  1. Hello all, Car is coming up to 5 years in a couple of months, with 52k mileage. I believe that cam belt change is due at 5 years or 100k miles. Independent garage says unless I’m a boy racer, then 80k miles with no age restriction should be fine. Anyone had cambelt break at low mileage or age? Cost is approx 500, so if can be avoided for a while, then worth it, as long as it doesn’t break! Mike
  2. as you can see further up, after 183 mile drive, my combined figure is just over 1,100 miles
  3. This was my best last year, first Manchester to Reading, second on the way back. Theoretical range on way back was 1,100 miles
  4. I thought it was engine related and only happens between 1800 and 2100 approx, lower or higher revs are fine. Also when not under load all is fine. Difficult to tell exact source.
  5. Currently on 48k after just over 4 years. Probably started 2k ago.
  6. Has no one else had this issue? Mike
  7. Hi, I have 150bhp diesel manual, which has developed an engine rumble noise, when under load thru approx 1800 to 2000 revs. Before and above this the engine is its usual quiet self. If nor under load the engine again is fine. A bit annoying, as the revs match to approx 70 mph. Has anyone had similar issue or know what it might be? Thanks, Mike
  8. I want a manual, as over 4 years have averaged 56mpg. If 150bhp DSG is getting better then that, please let me know. I’ve had 2 automatics, but just found them boring, as left side of body had nothing to do!!
  9. How do people find pulling out of junctions or crossing a road, from standstill, with a DSG? Had a couple of auto Audi’s, but soon went back to a manual. Just found oncoming traffic flashes me, I move foot from brake to throttle, wait a second and then moved. No problem with manual, as just clutch up and go
  10. Read in another post that someone replaced rear discs and pads after 30k miles. I’m on similar mileage myself and 2k miles ago service report said only 20% worn. Is the other person massively hard on brakes or are Skoda wrong with my wear? What mileage have people done before replacing discs and pads. Mike
  11. Unfortunately don’t do single journey that would do that. However, best I’ve done on single tank is 870 miles in May 2017.
  12. The car was 6% out on fillup on the way down and 9% for the tank fill on the way back. The 9% was probably because it was 12p off per litre at Sainsburys and I went absolutely to the max of what the car could take.
  13. Hello all, I have 150BHP manual hatchback, now with 29k miles on it. I travelled from Warrington to Reading a couple of weeks back, leaving at 5:30 in the morning. Manged 85.6 mpg on the way down, with only small amount of diesel left in tank on arrival, with 78.7 mpg on the way back, with full tank of diesel and going via central Birnmingham for a visit. The return journey shows range of 925 +183 = 1108 miles!! This would be approx 82 mpg overall. The display overreads usually by approx 7-8%, so let's call it 75 mpg. Not sure how I manged such good figures, but M6 was mainly 50mph in roadworks and then did 62-64mph on other stretches of motorway. Also did full manual driving, no cruise either way. Anyone else got good figures over a long(ish) distance? Mike
  14. I also had damage to offside front wheel, which resulted in needing a wheel alignment. This also resulted in ACC error, which needed to be corrected by VW garage in Preston, as the only garage that had the equipment. Luckily the insurance repair company took care of everything. The repair company claimed the car is put on rolling road and shown objects at different angles and distances, so it could learn how to behave! Sort of makes sense, as you wouldn't want any slight change in steering wheel angle to have the car do something not correct.
