  1. Does anyone know if these black plastic locating pins on the rear lamps are available to buy separately from the cluster? I've just broken another one. Don't know why they couldn't have just made them as straight pins so they just slip out rather than having to do all the jiggling, which has ended up breaking the pins.
  2. Not quite. The second and third letters identify the place of registration. In your example number, 900 MGB, GB would identify it as a Glasgow registration. Anyhoo, for Scottish football fans, F1 TBA, seen on a Mk4 Astra recently.
  3. Good Grief! I paid £166 for 2 Eagle F1 A2's last year including vaT, valve and balancing. Premium tyres can't have doubled in price since then. ... Can they?
  4. I've just finished 30 minutes ago) fitting a new headlamp unit after a birdstrike cracked the glass on my '14 Octy. Here's a little tip that will probably save a lot of time if you're only dealing with lights on one side. Undo all the top and bottom screws as per the guide but only remove the wheel arch liner on the side you're dealing with. Only remove the screws behind the wheel arch on the side you're dealing with. Disconnect the headlamp plug and undo the 2 retaining screws. Having a helper pull the bumper out sufficiently on that side will allow you to remove and replace the entire headlamp unit. Started 1.30pm - finished, washed up and drinking coffee and logged in here at 3.51pm. If I ever have to do it again it will be a breeze now that I know what I'm dealing with.
  5. Sounds exactly like the noise I had last year. Started to be noticeable around 50mph and was worst at 60ish. Checked out by Skoda dealer who confirmed it was front n/s wheel bearing. Replaced under warranty and problem was solved.
  6. Why pay for bells & whistles and not use them? Hit the voice control button on the steering wheel, say "Stop Route Guidance" (it might be "Cancel Route Guidance"), Mrs Amundsen confirms that route guidance has been cancelled and on goes the radio!
  7. I'm even more surprised that SUK offered a download link when asked for a card.
  8. Last time I updated the nav info I didn't wipe the card and when I went to put the new data on I got a message along the lines of "There's insufficient space on this card" The existing data isn't just updated, yes, you have to wipe the card.
  9. So, I tried the above, adjusting the default to 2500ms and the headlamp washers have not come on in the last 18 washes. That'll do for me. The headlamps do wash if the stalk is held down longer than that.
  10. I got a brand new wheel for my Elegance from Tyreleader.co.uk last August, just under £27. 205/65x16 tyre - just under £30. I wasn't bothered about having a premium tyre as it was only for use in case of a puncture and I'd be limited to 50mph anyway. Your local tyre guys would probably fit it for beer money. (I used to - I was a tyre guy in my younger days!) Tyre and wheel were both dispatched from Germany and arrived in 4 days.
  11. Just having a quick look at the forum before going out. R22JGB, have you looked here. There are security access codes amongst the mods. 31347 (Central Electrics) being the one I've had to use most. HTH http://obdeleven.proboards.com/thread/167/coding-adaptations
  12. Mine does. One added per day. I've only ever used them once to do something - can't remember what. It announces "Bonus Credit Added" in Green at the bottom of the app when I open it. I'm currently standing at 18 but there are precious few functions you can use them for.
  13. I wondered what happened to our dog......
  14. Updated my tool box a few years ago cos more and more of the things I wanted to do on my car needed Torx bits. Now I find my Octy has 12 point spline bolts in a few places. Can anyone who's fitted Superskoda bonnet lifters tell me what size of 12 point spline I need to remove the bolts on the bonnet hinge? I'm going to need a bigger tool box if they keep coming up with these new fangled things.
  15. Thanks Defenderben. They do say "Google is your friend". Google Translate is the same friend after 10 pints and 6 shorts. I managed to decipher Google's effort too, I just wondered if my theory adjusting the delay time and releasing the stalk before the set time was accurate.
