  1. OK started engine to go to garage this morning and the effing light was out! I took it the garage anyway and he put the OBD on it and it showed a fault in one of the pollution sensors, however his obd is an older version and didn't say which one so I took it to the main dealers an hour later they changed the sensor and relieved me of 200 Euros ah well at least I can go on my holiday now. Thanks for all the advice,I am just glad it wasn't something complicated. cheers all Pete
  2. My 4x4 is fantastic its running on Michelin cross climates and I have even pulled the caravan in snow!
  3. At 5 years I would change it as a matter of course the possibility of the belt snapping is greater as the rubber gets older. Just look at an old tyre the compound begins to break down with constant changes in temperature etc, so yes 180,000 ks or 5 years is about right.
  4. I have a nextbase in mine and it is on the right hand side of the mirror (mines a left hooker) and it is practicaly hidden by the mirror so if you put yours on the left hand side just behind the mirror I would think it would be the same for you even if you are tall, hope this helps. Pete
  5. Thats interesting cos I had it serviced on friday I will be taking it back to the same garage tomorrow and will certainly mention that. Thanks a lot I hope you are right will keep you posted.
  6. I think I will take Silver 1011s advice and wait until tomorrow,I am at home and not on the road,so it will give me time to do a couple of things on the van. It is the engine light and not the DPF and the engine starts and runs smoothly but only up 2,500 rpm so I am hopeful its nothing too serious(cross fingers) will update when I know the problem.
  7. I can get it to the garage ok in limp mode so thats not a problem. Here roadside help is covered by your insurance.Looks like I am going to put the holiday off for a few days ,Cheers all .Pete
  8. Help needed, the exhaust inspection system light has come on and the engine has gone into limp mode. I am supposed to be going on holiday tomorrow and as I live in France the garages don't open until Tuesday. The question is, is there anything on the motor I can check myself, like a sensor or wiring or must I postpone my holiday. Thanks in advance for any advice cheers, Pete.
  9. The drivers side heated seat is not working ,how difficult is it to fix or is it a garage job? Cheers all.
  10. I tow 1.5 tonne caravan here in France and have never had any problem at all. Mine is a manual so I cant comment on that but as a tow car it is in a league of its own.
  11. Ive had a 4x4 170 manual for 18 months ,my measured average is about 42-44 mpg and over 30 mpg with the caravan on the back it is completely stable under everything ive thrown at it including towing in snow. These cars are happiest on long fast journeys. Mine gives its best returns on long trips to UK and on holiday, all in all I love it!
  12. I live in the south of France near the central massife and we get plenty of snow the Skoda is the best yet, especially now ive put crossclimates on it.The only thing is being low slung it does not like fresh snow if its too deep but on packed snow and ice its peerless. If conditions get too bad ive always got the L200 running on BFG A/Ts!
  13. Yeah its a left hooker, thanks for the heads will have a look when the temperature creeps above -2 probably about april :sun:
  14. Hi all first of all I wish everybody here a happy and prosperous new year. The other thing is both the front and rear cigarette lighters have stopped working I need the front one to power my caravan satnav,is there a fuse for these, I cant find a fuseway in the handbook for them any ideas? cheers all Pete.
  15. I find that if I leave the key in the ignition for any length of time even with the key in the off position it will flatten the battery. Which means that some systems are still live even with the engine turned off
