  1. I didn't even upload all the good ones I had. I did it in a halfarsed way. I think in total I uploaded for or five. As it's dealers I suspect they want a photo of the mileage and shots of the interior. Certainly it will help if you're completely open about any chips or wheel scuff so they can't negotiate when they collect. If take pics of the interior plastic as well as that's always a good indication of a well looked after car. No scuffs on the glovebox plastic etc They're going to be less bothered if it's not sparkling clean and have things that can be easily and cheaply fixed, as they can prep it themselves. What they're looking for are really low miles and good spec.
  2. I haven't actually driven one. I just came across a really cheap lease on pistonheads from a cancelled order so I just thought I'd take a leap of faith. If you believe everything you read on the internet, they cure cancer as well. I can see my Skoda on the garage website now. It's described as a 'rare model'
  3. I hate to say it but m4ym gave me a price akin to WBAC. Of course it all depends on your car and if dealers want it. Now I've just got to sit her and wait for my golf r estate to be delivered. Longest 2 weeks everrrrrrrrr.
  4. Sold! If anyone wanted closure. It was a very simple and painless process. From listing to offer was half an hour and collection was the next day with no haggling over the condition. Would definitely recommend. Car collected by an ex traffic copper and felt rather strange seeing my car for the last time :(
  5. You Sir, are a gem. I've listed it, got a call in minutes with an offer almost the same as I wanted from a private sale and £1000 better than my WBAC offer. I'll happily drop a little bit as it saves £50 straight off from not listing on Autotrader and I don't have to put up with the test pilots at weekends. Fingers crossed it all goes through ok.
  6. Online quote. I was anticipating the bull**** when dropping off. That's why I want to sell privately. I don't mind paying, I'm just surprised to see so few mk3 vrs for sale, but I suppose if it really is that I'm a rarity that bought rather than leased (albeit a 6 month old car than new) there probably aren't a lot on the market. I've also seen Tootle.com today that is another seller portal. I might give that a bash. Car is absolutely mint and as it's still under warranty, I would like to think I can ask a higher price than other private sellers....but there aren't any....so I can't :(
  7. Good point. I may ask locally. There is a place down the road that sells shiny sporty/prestige cars(with light years on the clock) Ultimately if anyone beats the WBAC quite I got then it's win win. I don't need more than what they offered but it's against my nature to sell a car out of simplicity if I can make a grand more privately.
  8. That was the plan with mine but then something came up that I couldn't turn down.
  9. I'm in the process of selling my vrs and looking on autotrader, I can't find a single mk3 privately for sale in a 100 mile radius if me. Is it just me or does that seem weird? There are only 2 other cars similar to mine and they're both miles away from traders. I still have 3 months warranty on mine so I'm thinking I'll get my arm bitten off?
  10. Comparing not declaring a mod to drink driving is a bit **** to be fair. They're massively different morally. Getting in a car while drunk is a decision to drive a vehicle knowing full well you are unfit to control a vehicle. Modifying a car is perfectly legal and does not isolation, increase risk or probability of an accident, although an actuary will have a different view. And in both cases, if you have an accident, an insurer cannot devoid itself of its liability to any 3rd party victim. It may well come after you for subsequently for costs due to breach of terms but in relation to any victims of an accident either directly attributed to the modification or not, they still have to pay. After all, it's not the victims fault. What's 'gluon' btw? Aside from a subatomic particle.
  11. Useful. I did a bit of reading. So it's UK based financed by the insurance industry, but they don't set security standards for manafacturers. They just review the standards of new OEM cars security, classify the category and report on it for insurance purposes? What I don't get is why they ask if they have the details of your car. If it's modern then it has to have one given European manafacturer standards.
  12. Hang on, are you sure? Thatcham doesn't approve OEM alarm and immobilizer systems anymore that I'm aware of. They only approved aftermarket (given manafacturer didn't offer any security back in the day) alarm systems, like Cobra, Clifford etc I don't doubt they still do but I can't see them approving or reviewing the security on every single model of new car. It might be the equivalent of a thatcham cat one, but that doesn't mean it's approved by Thatcham the body. Thatcham is a bit of an antiquated approval body given that all cars since 1997 have to be designed with a the equivalent of a cat 1, but your insurer website should know that automatically when you put the reg in. I would call them as I always answer No to that question. When in doubt, check. You know what insurers are like. Any excuse to wriggle out.
  13. Rear washer nozzle. Interior temp sensor. Then I realised they ' all do that sir' when it's raining and you're on a long journey and it slowly mists up. Then clears.
