  1. From Pickering follow the A170 towards Helmsley take the road on the right signposted Rosedale Abbey, via Wrelton retrace the route back but turn left to Egton Bridge follow the road on the the moors for some stunning scenic views, plenty of lay-bys for stops and picnic. Some points of interest, Ryedale folk museum at Hutton Le Hole, Eden Camp, old POW camp near Malton got an excellent navi style restaurant, Beck Isle museum in Pickering and Pickering steam railway.

    Enjoy you stay.

Thank you very much for that.

  2. Agree on the Helmsley route

    B1257 – Helmsley to Stokesley

The A19 may be the quickest way to head north, but it isn’t the most enjoyable. This 20-mile stretch of the B1257 runs through moorland and woodland, taking in the villages of Chop Gate and Great Broughton.

The views are fantastic, as is the driving. The road is undulating, with some steep sections, and plenty of sweeping corners to make the most of your Porsche’s handling.

    Thank you for that.....Porsche!!!!.....Austin A40...

  3. Well, this morning I ordered a Qashqai 1.2 N-Connecta which I'll have in 3 weeks (just in time for the 66 plates, not that it bothers me). Complete curveball choice really but got offered a good deal and after giving it a drive I quite liked it. Lots of nice kit in it - some better than the Superb in fact - shame I'll lose the leather seats but I can live without them, especially as I don't have them in my Octy.

I've heard all he arguments against the brokers, and I get it, I really do. But I can't help feeling very let down by Skoda. They stopped an active order, one which should've been delivered in the next week or so. And they've lost a customer as a result. If they want to change their terms and conditions for dealers, that's absolutely fine and they're entitled to BUT it shouldn't be retroactive; that's just mean-spirited. I'm not bitter, I'm disappointed. I'm not saying I'll never buy a Skoda again - if the price is right a Kodiaq might be a tempting prospect in 2/3 years, or even a Superb hybrid...

Sadly at dealer prices the L&K was going to be too expensive for me and as I'd been expecting it for 3 months the SE-L would've felt like a disappointment so, for now at least, it's a change for me.

I was in exactly the same boat as you with NCD, having it pulled from me abruptly a week before delivery after waiting three and a half months. Still their loss and I am more than happy with what I got in the end.

Funnily enough, I have just noticed a red secondhand 280 L&K estate very similar to the one I ordered on Autotrader going for well over £10k more than I was paying, amazing!!!

  4. So say you purchased one of the multiple user Microsoft Office deals, then offered to load it to individuals computers for say £80 rather than the £100 retail price.

If Microsoft pulled the plug on you would they be to blame or you?

The company I work for lease about 40 Skodas (not sure how many as we have a few brand snobs driving courtesy cars whilst their Insignias are being repaired).

Our first batches of Octavias are just going back after 4 years to be replaced by Rapids and Octavias.

Skoda came in to see us and see how they could increase their share of our fleet. We have 3 S3 Superbs as a direct result.

I do about 25K miles a year which is seen as low mileage on our fleet

We expect a better deal than a private buyer.

Brand loyal, 40-50 cars, high mileage, potential for growth and financially stable; we deserve a better deal.

If we found our a private individual could get the same deal  the Skoda Rep would be invited back in for a chat without Cofee and Biscuits.

So what!!!....why should you get a better deal than a private individual!....the whole fleet thing stinks of corruption,

  5. Also, all these cars which were purchased or sold at fleet cost have also probably clogged up the Skoda ordering system/factory leading to longer lead times which people have also been complaining about. Also, the brokers would have been using up their supplying dealers build slots which would also lead to increased lead times.

I believe a good local dealership has value, in terms of customer service

Skoda and customer service don't go hand in hand in my opinion, that's why I went elsewhere!

  6. How many times have we been told now that we will have a resolution in 24/48 hours now? It's simply not acceptable. I think that it's stalling tactics, the less of us they have left the more stock they have to sell at a higher price.

Still not good PR in the long term though even if they sell my car at a higher price. I for one (and family and friends) will never buy a Skoda again.

  7. I was assured by Skoda UK that there would be a resolution to this today. There wasn't even a call and my call was not returned. Tomorrow I shall start the order process on an A4 and fill in the forms from the lawyer on this.

Not happy, and no longer a Skoda customer.

Sorry to hear that.....they just keep giving with their ineptitude don't they! and good luck with the Audi.

  8. Below is the statement from Skoda in full:

We understand you may recently have received a communication suggesting that ŠKODA UK has cancelled certain customer orders

because of discounting. We wish to clarify the position and reassure you that ŠKODA UK has not cancelled any customer orders

(either for this reason or at all).

We are, however, currently investigating the legal status of certain third parties which have been involved with ordering ŠKODA

vehicles. The purpose of the investigation is to ensure ŠKODA UK complies with its legal obligations. Whilst this may have

affected trade with such companies, we hope to find a way to be able to process all properly placed orders as soon as our

    investigations conclude.

You are free to use an intermediary to negotiate/conclude a purchase on your behalf and/or arrange finance (in either case

purchasing through one of our network of approved ŠKODA retailers) and our investigation is not aimed at preventing any such

    lawful activity

We have not been informed of any customer details and therefore we have been unable to be pro-active in contacting any customers

If you have placed an order you think may have been affected by this issue, and wish to obtain further information, you may

    contact us on 033 300 37504.

Still very fishy whoever is at fault.....so glad I went elsewhere!
