  1. I’m not too fussed about the noise, just wanted to make sure everything lubed nicely. I wanted to try a smf in it, thought the dmf always felt a bit numb and it does drive much better now. Much better response on throttle just around town and bites well. Are you thinking it’s going to cause some damage or just that I’m not going to loose the noise? I know I’m putting more stress on a few bits without dmf but I don’t do track days and don’t change through the gears like I’m still 17 years old!!
  2. Hi, I’ve put a valeo solid flywheel conversion in my 2010 VRs TDI (2.0 common rail). Done a thousand miles or so now and it’s going fine and from cold start you wouldn’t know a difference, apart from..... when it gets up to temperature it gets loud. Sounds very mechanical and metal-ly on acceleration. Im guessing - when the gearbox oil is warm it’s thinner and it’s the gearbox I’m hearing. Cars 8 year old now and never had box oil changed. I’m thinking it can’t harm to do it but anyone got any recommendations on what oil to use? Is there something ‘thicker’?!? Any my ideas would be great! cheers.
  3. After looking around for year or so, on and off, I’ve not found any forum posts detailing a solid flywheel conversion on the 2.0 CR170 tdi engine. So here’s a bit of info! I bought a valeo conversion kit (kit4p) about 18months ago on offer (£230). Seen as my clutch and dmf have started to slip, I’ve finally had it fitted today! One job I couldn’t really do on the drive!! so far it seems fine! Not done many miles though. Theres no chatter at all when In neutral and idleing, which I thought there may be. It is a bit noisier at low revs in 1st/2nd (rattling) if you’re listening for it. Feels light on the clutch but bites well and is definitely more responsive than the dmf (although that’s probably just due to been new). Picks up well and no slipping even when short shifting 3rd/4th. Not really much much more to say as done only 20 miles. Massively cheaper than the dmf replacement but expect to pay up to £300 for labour as it’s subframe out job, recommend about 7/8 hour job. Suppose only thing to be conscious of is taking a bit more care with quick changes as I think most stuff made lighter allowing for dmf (gearbox, drive shafts etc). Bit of mechanical sympathy needed!! will update when done a good few miles!
  4. Hi Guys, Just an update. Finally got round to taking wheel and lining off. Bolt just kept spinning with but used a flat driver to leverage the clutch bit and it nipped up nicely. Cold air started immediately. 15 minute job Got a photo but can't add it from phone so when at a PC will post for reference. Thanks for the suggestion!
  5. Thanks for the info guys - it's pretty not stopped raining since I posted so not had a chance to try!. Will borrow my mates windy gun and have a go when weather dries up!! Will post back! Fingers crossed its just that!!
  6. Cheers, when it stops raining I'll have a look at the compressor! I have noticed that the centre bolt isn't spinning when ac turned on/off. Suppose it points to that problem but fact that VCDS shows the compressor rpm changing throws me a bit
  7. Hi, had my 2010 octy vrs facelift for a few months, tried Aircon last week and no different to normal blower. Aircon light came on fine, no error lights, no errors in VCDS. Took it for a regas - pulled out 330g ish of refrigerant and filled with the 550ish, did oil and dye etc. Still no different. No obvious leaks and had Aircon running for a few days now to no avail. Looking at other threads was thinking compressor but I hear it kick in and using measuring blocks on VCDS compressor is running - around 1000rpm on idle and increases with revs. Anyone any ideas where to look/check - either physicals or VCDS?! Any ideas much appreciated. Thanks in advance!
  8. Quick pic of my dashcam install in Octavia mk2 vrs. It's a front and rear 1080p dashcam. I've used the sunglasses holder pocket to house it - will put some more pics up later
  9. Thanks for the advice guys! I'm very happy with it as it is and did ask when purchased if anything had been modified and they said no. Think I'll just continue been happy drive it!!
  10. Hi, Recently moved here from 10 years in the seatcupra.net forums! I have just got a 2010 octavia Vrs TDI (facelift). My friend bought a 2012 model (same spec/engine) the same week and after driving both mine feels very different! It seems to have more boost and much more aggressive. 1st and 2nd gear just wheelspin for fun and after a hard drive the clutch starts slipping like crazy (fine after a good cool down) So I suspect it's been mapped. I have plugged in VCDS which I had for the Leon. Did a run - 3rd gear 1200rpm to redline. The peak boost was 2601mbar. My understanding is deduct 1000 for atmospheric (showing 980ish in VCDS) and convert for PSI. Problem is, that gives just over 23psi boost!! Seems wrong to me as standard is around 10. Gonna do the same run I my mates car to compare but won't get chance this week. Anyone any ideas if that figure could be right? I'll post the full csv log shortly Thanks in advance!!
