  1. Ok that's interesting. Yes it is an sel exec estate with Columbus and the drive and two sd card slots in the glove box. When I took delivery of the car the sd card was already in slot 1 with an empty DVD type box that it came in, in the glove box. Assuming they were left in from the PDI before I picked it up. Thanks for the clarification.
  2. Can I just jump onto this thread and clarify a few things. I have a Columbus system that came with a maps data sd card in slot 1 of the car. In the glove box. Am I right in saying now that the map data is now on the internal hard drive of the system and the sd card is not currently being used? If so can i use the sd card from skoda to get New updates online for the maps and then update the Columbus in turn as described above? Any help/ clarification is appreciated.
  3. It's just micro marring or some call it holographic swirl marks. It's because the machine polisher/pad or compound used has been done incorrectly. It will polish out with a less harsh pad or polishing compound. Whoever polished the scratch out maybe pressed on too hard or used too harsh a compound. The problem you may have is that paint is only so thick and if they have taken too much off then you will have to be very careful or you will go through the top coat and damage the base coat.
  4. Been reading this with interest. My car has creaked since getting it Jan 2016. Improves dramatically when westher is warm and I put this down to the anti roll bar bushes as I had an old vectra that did exactly the same thing. Noticed that if I brake on the up or down slope of the hump then the creak is louder. If someone could try this as well. Go for a drive and when the car is warm and brakes have been used leave either foot on brake pedal or auto brake on and just turn steering wheel slightly. I get the same creaking or groan here as well. When brakes are cool it doesn't seem to do it.
  5. This same topic is discussed further down the forum on window trim problem.
  6. Mine is more or less the same. Just touching a little. New trim has just been ordered and is waiting at the dealers. Just need to book car back in. Rochdale skoda said they have had a couple of cars the same.
  7. I bought mine from RRG Skoda in Rochdale. I pay just over £11 per month on interest free direct debit over three years for a three year service plan. Also includes free puncture repairs for the lifetime that I own the car and yes they do the video thing emailing a link with the technician talking through the condition of the vehicle. Excellent service so far.
  8. I have a dsg estate and have recently had a problem with the rear offside brake squeaking after the car has been parked up for a number of hours it only lasted for 50 metres or so but bloody annoying. The discs had a few marks but nothing too much. The dealer took pads off cleaned and it sorted it for a couple of weeks. Then it started again. Just had fresh new pads put on the rear today and the discs are already lovely and clean. Possibly a bad batch of pads from the factory. Car has done 4k miles.
  9. Meant to add. Try getting someone to hold the passenger or drivers side seatbelt height adjustment plastic bracket. The bit you squeeze together to move seatbelt height up or down. Mine pings a bit like a large spring on uneven surfaces. Moving the height and checking the plastic bit you squeese together was locking in place stopped the noise.
  10. It is possibly just a throw away piece of plastic thats is used on the assembley line to protect another object that is fitted to the car. Used to make things like this to protect double glazing units in transit. Its just an injection moulded part with skoda emblem and date stamp for manufacture. Just an educated guess mind!
  11. I don,t think it is just a DCC issue. I have a sel estate and when the car is cold or if it is less than about 8 degrees outside then the front( I think anti roll bar bushes or some other bush) on the front suspension grinds/grates. Seems to disappear when you have gone over a couple of humps or when car is warm.
  12. The noise from the bulkhead when cold is noticeable on mine for about thirty seconds. When the engine was cold one morning I put my hand around what I think is the turbo/exhaust manifold area. Backs onto the bulkhead. Sounds a bit rattly and like the exhaust is blowing then noticed as it got warm a mechanism closed on my finger and noise went away. Must be something to do with air mixture when engine first starts up. Anyway whilst this was open I touched it and it stopped rattling and went much quieter. The rattling subsides when whatever the mechanism is and has closed and finished doing it s thing.
