  1. I can't comment on that I'm affraid, I don't know, but good luck finding out.
  2. Hi there olive_fist, still getting nowhere unfortunately, been busy doing other things and time has run away from me. I was hoping to get some help on here but as you can see by the postings only one person had any comment to make, so I am a bit shot down really and not sure what to do next. If I have any luck I will update this post, however if you are doing a simular project and get somewhere I would love to hear from you!!!!!!
  3. Hi Guys, thanks for your reply's, I ended up taking it to a independant VW/Seat/Skoda guy, I was lucky that he fitted me in the Thursday before Christmas. The fault was tracked down to a breakdown in the wiper stalk control arm contacts.
  4. Hi there, did you have any luck sorting out the problem? I have a Roomster which is pretty much the same beast and the same thing has happened to me.
  5. Can anyone help? I went out last night with a car full and a fully working car in the rain, once I had parked up I left the engine running while everyone readied to depart into the rain and during this time there was an electrical burning smell. I did not have time to investigate and appeared to dissipate quickly. Jokingly I said as I locked the car if it catches fire we will have to get a taxi home. Anyway on our return the car was still in one piece thankfully but after starting her up I had no windscreen wipers, this made the journey home almost bloody impossible. Can anyone throw any light on this for me please? I don't have the money to take it to a garage at their inflated prices so it has to be DIY so any input would be lifesaving. The car is a 58 plate Roomster 3 and I love her to bits.
  6. Hi there, I don't know if you still have this for sale, if so I wonder if you could do me a big big favour, I need an airbag and airbag cover to fit one of these steering wheels, is there any possible chance that you coulld let me know the part number/s of the airbag/airbag cover and wire harness please. Andy. I hope this isn't being cheeky
  7. Hi all (If I have posted this in the wrong section I appologise and please move to the correct location on my behalf) I am after some general information about steering wheel airbags. Are all the airbag units the same with just the front airbag covers that are different? if this is the case can I use an existing airbag unit and buy just the appropriate front cover. My reason for asking is that I would like to change the standard steering wheel on my Roomster to a single sided multifunction steering wheel from a Superb of the same year. I have already purchased the steering wheel minus the airbag and wiring, so if it is just the front covers that are different it means I can use my existing airbag and only need to purchase the front cover and the 2 small wiring harnesses. My next question would then be what the correct part no be for the front cover? Any help would be gratefully received. Andy.
  8. Many thanks b1ackb1rd, that clears that up I will look out for a Fabia2 model mfsw.
  9. Hi b1ackb1rd, can you please explain what the actually means please, It would appear that I am being a bit thick. If this is not possible is there a mfsw that will work in my roomy? I find this can bus stuff confusing. I used to be an auto electrician many many moons ago and life was reasonably simple back then...... :|
  10. A question asked elsewhere but with no luck. I have 58 plate roomy which I love to bits but I dislike not having mfsw, I have just bought an octy2 mfsw and when I came to do a swap the wire harness is different, that in itself isn't an issue ( ) I don't think or is it???? can anyone tell me what I need to do please and does it involve coding? if so what unit do I need to buy to be able to do this myself. Any answers or suggestions (not rude ones) would be very much appreciated. Andy.
  11. Thanks for your reply, I was really hoping to be able to use the 4 spoke wheel I have already, I think I can manage it if I could get a spare steering wheel cable harness with the right connectors on which allow me to modify the wiring slightly????????
  12. Hi all, I have my roomy and I am trying to change my steering wheel, obviously its a 5J and the wheel I currently have is just plain standard 4 spoke with airbag, So what I want is a multifunction wheel, I bought a Octavia 4 spoke identical to mine but with radio controls on so of course there are more wires. The current slip ring has a 6 pin connector on it and my standard wheel uses 4 of them for airbag and horn. Now the new wheel has 6 wires but the connector is different as its a 1Z style as opposed to 5J. So the question I am asking "at last" is - do I need an adaptor, new slip ring, different steering wheel? and the other question is? how can I go about programming the steering to work once I get it fitted. Many thanks for anyone who reads this and any help/advise will be greatfuly received. Andy.
  13. Well the update to this at last was, I took the car to local body repair shop who said he would have a look at it for me and would you belive, when I got there the bloody door unlocked and opened!!! so being that I had already stripped the door panel etc off I removed the lock and promptly ordered a new lock for it. I bungied the door shut for the drive home and overnight and the next day when the new lock arrived I fitted the new one and everything now works as it should do again. I stripped down the old central locking unit and found the problem to be with the plastic mechanism not operating properly but for the life of me I can't see how to rectify the problem. It is a shame that the central locking mechanism is not sold seperatley to the door lock as the lock itself is pretty much full proof in its operation. The cost was £80 for the lock and I am fortunate enough to be able to do the work myself. The job only takes 5 minutes to do, it takes longer to take the door panel of and refit it. Apparently it is a common fault with this type of lock throughout the VAG range of vehicles. Many thanks for those who took the time to add their input.
  14. Hi all I suddenly seem to have a problem with my roomy rear door, it started playing up a while back intermittently. The problem was when I operated the key fob sometimes the nearside door would not unlock. The problem didn't get any worse infact it improved and stopped playing up altogether then the other day it started playing up again and now it will not work at all. The door will not open from inside or outside. I have removed the inner door trim to gain access to the lock mech but whatever I do I can't seem to release the door. Any help would be really really appreciated. Thanks in advance Andy.
