  1. After all this terrible rain we've been having I've noticed water coming out of the bottom of my offside rear door. This is the same door which the lock doesn't work on. I'm assuming this is the reason why. Is this a common problem? Is there a guide I can follow to fix it? My car has stayed bone dry inside fortunately. But I want to nip this in the bud asap. Cheers
  2. I now have another problem with water getting inside the doors. Sounds a bit like what you may have had. Is this difficult to sort out? Is there a comprehensive guide for doing the work? Cheers
  3. All done! No way water is ever getting in. Highly recommend the sealer we used. we did it with minimal mess and put the car back together with no spare bits in half an hour. Next job upgrading the stereo and sorting out why the offside rear door isn't locking.
  4. So after getting off the phone with a sealant specialist I was advised to use Otto primer 1227 on the housing and bond it to the car with Ottocoll m500. I will post how I get along tomorrow. Cheers
  5. I will check out the data sheet for it thanks. I don't like using silicone either as it should never be used on metal.
  6. Hopefully going to get some of the genuine sealant off Jimbof. But if it doesn't arrive in time what other mastick tube type sealants have people had success with? I have to get the job done on Friday. Thinks
  7. 115k but full service history just had cambelt and water pump done. 2 owners from new. I bought from a dealer with waranty. A little superficial rust in the back archers but other than that hopefully a good buy. I'm currently sealing and checking for ingress but so far all clean and dry. Good luck the hunt.
  8. What do people recommend? I've stripped down and removed the housing went to seal it and realised the only plastic my sealant can't be used on is Polypropylene doh! I don't want to use silicone as it deteriorates over time and encourages rust. On the plus side everything was dry as a bone
  9. Keep shopping I just paid £2700 for a 2005 elegance with loads of extras.
  10. How do I get the Big plastic cover that's over the battery and pollen filter off?? (Not the bit with the wipers poking through the Big bit) I also cannot open gizmos blog or PDF getting error 404
  11. I bought a 2005 Skoda Superb Elegance Tdi 130pd. It isn't steamed up when we go to the car it streams up once the 4 of us are in there. It clears pretty much instantly once I put the fan on. I may attempt to get the battery out and do the pollen filter today. It's been dry here but the weather is changing and I need use of the car. I just hope I don't make a pigs ear of it. All electrics other than the back lock and reverse sensors work. I couldn't feel any moisture under the vent under the passenger seat. I hope I'm just being paranoid and its fine. Will try and post some pics later. Thanks for all help and advice thus far!
  12. 1st time Skoda owner. Just bought a 2005 Superb Elegance.
  13. On further inspection I've put my hands right under the carpet drivers and passengers side this morning and cannot feel any moisture. The car has been sat for 4 (relatively dry) weeks. Prior to this im ensured it was kept garaged. I am still going to fix the pollen filter. But what is the likelihood the steaming up is due to it just being sat outside and undriven and the back door lock not working is just down to it being 10 years old?
  14. If anybody knows of a reputable garage with experience of fixing water ingress in Cornwall or Devon. Or the rest of the southwest at a push. Please let me know Cheers
  15. Hi, I've bought a mark 1 2005 with ingress :(. After reading through this thread (which I'm going to reread a fare few times) I think I'm going to have a go at rectifying it myself. Even thought I'm the least practical person on the planet. I think I can get my head around most of it. But I've never ever attempted soldering in my life. Is there another easier way of fixing corroded wires for a clumsy oaf such as myself? Thanks Cp
  16. I have looked at the threads I will try and get somewhere to quote me for the work and weigh up if I can afford it or if I have to do it myself.
  17. Well I'm pretty clueless with cars. What sort of money do people charge to do the work? I'm happy to give it a bash but worried I will end up doing more damage than good.
  18. After thinking I had checked well on the way home the car steamed up. Now I've noticed one of the locks isn't working with the central locking. I'm guessing I have the dreaded ingress. Is this going to cost me a fortune to put right? Please help.
  19. Well his new car fell through so he's currently not selling his Superb =( gutted as no more decent examples near us.
  20. Ok with that in mind what are the obvious tell tale signs that im looking for during the viewing tomorrow. I really dont want to buy a rat. Thanks CP
  21. Is the water ingress problem a reason not to buy? Is it simple to check? Ive had a quick look at the sticky but not being a very practical chap feel a bit lost.
  22. Hello, Off to view a 2002 Skoda Superb Comfort TDI 130pd tomorrow. What problems mechanical or otherwise do i need to be on the look out for? What should i expect to pay if its in decent condition around 90k miles? Thanks in advance CP
