  1.  I met him once, he was running a bike up Shelsley Walsh hillclimb. No airs or graces, no big I am just happy to enjoy running his 'bike up the hill and chatting to people. He must have been in his mid sixties by then and he didn't hold back from giving his bike the Full Beans and putting in a pretty good time.

    RIP John.

  2. I do wish they'd actually tell us a bit about the cars. They stopped doing that with TG as well although Chris Harris is doing it again.

The trouble is that the producers of both these programmes is that they are thinking of future sales to TV networks, it could be a couple of years before they appear on mainstream TV and of course the currently new cars won't be quite so new.

Then you have to factor in the fact that not all cars are sold in all markets so for many parts of the world the road test will be irrelevant!

  3. I don't think ill be a fan of putting my fingers in my eyes by maybe something I could learn to live with.

You get used to it. I don't wear my contacts all the time but I wouldn't be with out them. I actually tried them because at the time I was doing some clay shooting and I thought it would improve my aim. Ironically I have not done a lot of shooting since!

As far as getting them in, you have the lens between your eyeball and your finger so you don't "put your finger in your eyes" like wise when taking them out, if you are careful your fingers won't come into contact with your eyes.

Have a chat with your optician. They will give you an assessment to make sure you are okay to use them, they will perform an eye test and measure your eyeballs for fitment. I've never had any problems with my contacts.

  4. I'm not 55+ by a long shot, but have had the 'pleasure' of this 'routine' exam (read ritual humiliation) at least half a dozen times over the last 10 years.

Having moved NHS trust areas and gone private at least once, I can assure you that, no matter what, the Dr involved will invariably have unfeasibly large hands for a such a short man.

I swear the doc used the fat end of a baseball bat to check mine........

  5. 'Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee'

A real sporting legend, but I still remember the night Henry Cooper put him on the canvas with 'enry's hammer. Ali was Cassius Clay in those days and his corner man Angelo Dundee cut Ali's glove to give him more time to recover at the end of the round.

And smelling salts which were illegal in UK boxing at the time.

  6. I'd have liked to have seen the ship named after Ranulph Fiennes tbh, David Attenborough has done some seriously good programmes in some of the most inhospitable parts of the world but let's face it, he had an easy ride out there whilst Ran walked it single handed without any support. What a guy!

  7. I've grown one and shaved one this year. I usually shave once a week but I broke my wrist mid January so let the beard grow for a couple of months.

Whipped it off when I looked in the mirror, didn't recognise myself but saw my dear pop staring back at me!

Removing it was quick and easy, one pass with a cutthroat razor just like a normal shave!
