  1. I have had to do the handle repair as well. I wonder if the drivers side is somehow protected as that is where the actual key lock is, so maybe that side is just stronger because of it.
  2. I dont know, I have never changed shock absorbers on any car I have ever owned but both the front ones on my superb are leaking at around 40,000 miles and 5 years old. First was picked up at the 4 year MOT but was advisory, not a fail. I intend to replace them with non-Skoda parts.
  3. I drove my daughters car today and noticed on the display the mph was shown as dashes, the kph show below was changing with road speed as was the traditional speedo arrow on the big dial on the right. So the speed is being passed to the instrument cluster. Any comments ? I suspect the battery may have been disconnected at some time as the clock was hours out, but reset with no difficulty.
  4. Has anyone fitted the Bilstein B4 DampTronic, is there any issues with the car computer system not recognising them and causing issues. thanks
  5. I have just discovered the same issue on my vehicle, just over 4 years, less than 40,000 miles. Quoted £300 for each one (part only) plus fitting costs. What phone number did you use to contact them.
  6. Yes, you don't seem to have some little pop out support pieces, and if you have an estate, nowhere to hide the pull over cover
  7. from CarParts Warehouse on ebay. I sent a photo of the locking design and the reg number, they identified the part, I ordered and it arrived with the postman about 3 days later. Quality wise, feels as heavy and solid as the one I have for my Superb and it fits tightly.
  8. My daughter has lost hers but it is a wavy circle with 6 points from a 61 fabia. Any reliable sellers of keys to remove these.
  9. To end this topic. Car went in a 8:30am, got the finky tyre measuring video about 11am. Got the prices for the fixes they were recomending (didnt go for any) and got a phone call 24 hours later saying the car would be ready to collect at 3pm) Car collected, received all the paperwork and all has been well. Cost for DSG Oil Change Labour - 43.78 Screw - 2.93 Gear Oil - 6x 16.25 = 97.50 Seal Ring - 4.88 Cost for brake fluid change Labour - 41.51 Fluid - 9.43 Total inc VAT = £242.06 Which seems fair to me. I am going to question why the man that changes the brake fluid gets 83.02 and hour (took 30 mins) but the man that changed the DSG oil only gets paid 48.64 and hour (and took 56 minutes)
  10. My Superb L&K 150 DSG is going in for its 4th Annual Service with the Dealer and it has done about 37,000 miles. I have it serviced once a year. For those that reached this milestone before me, should I expect any surprises.
  11. I got an email recently offering the above. So I thought I would check it out. SKODA extended warramty says for the All Component Cover option We will pay for the costs of repairing or replacing the factory-fitted mechanical and electrical components of your vehicle that have suffered sudden failure during the period of cover subject to the maximum claim limit and the terms and conditions of this policy. It then goes on to say We will not pay for: Airbags, batteries, non-Xenon and non-LED bulbs, exhaust systems, water ingress (including damage to covered parts caused by water), wiper blades, wheel balancing and alignment; wiring, wiring looms, connections and fuses, wheels and tyres. Any losses or damage to components that are not directly covered within the terms of this warranty. All bodywork components including encased aerials, paintwork, glass, seals, sunroof assemblies, soft top roofs, and any component, which may require adjustment from time to time. Body panels. Catalytic converters and diesel particulate filters. Diagnostic time of any type (unless incurred as part of a valid claim). Routine servicing (all components replaced associated with routine servicing are excluded). All adjustments, cam belt timing, diesel pump timing or cleaning. Components that are not of a matching quality to ŠKODA approved components. Seat frames. Gas struts. Strikers and hinges. Brake frictional material. Clutch frictional material. Constant Velocity (CV) boot gaiters. External oil leaks (unless it requires the removal of a major component e.g. Engine, Gearbox, Rear Axle), lubricants, filter elements and any damage caused by frost or lack of anti-freeze, impact, accident or negligence. Electrical software update or reprogramming unless required due to the failure of a covered part. Interior trim including seats, seat belts and pre-tensioners. Recharging of the air conditioning unit, owing to natural depletion of the refrigerant. Renewal of any clutch components due to wear and tear, misuse or incorrect adjustment. Renewal of brake components due to wear and tear or constant use of the brakes. The clearing of fuel lines, filters, fuel injection system, throttle body, pumps and any damage caused by contaminated or incorrect fuel. We will not pay for fixed or portable in car entertainment systems including, but not limited to, audio or video equipment, games consoles, CD multi-changers, MP3 or iPod equipment, speakers, amplifiers, remote controls. Any exclusion detailed under the General Exclusions section which are also numerous. I get the not covering wear and tear, such as wiper blades and brake pads and similar, but what I can't figure out is what is covered, as everythiong seems to be excluded as the exlusions seem to cover the body work the engine the electrical wiring the Infotainment system. Am I missing something. Oh, it may cover the wiper blade motor.
