  1. I had some stuff replaced near the front wheels due to wearing out because of old age and the engineer has had a load of attempts at getting the alignment correct, he is unable to get the wheels aligned and the steering wheel 'square', so the car goes straight but the wheel is a couple of degrees off which means the safety option of keeping the car between the white lines is not happy. Rang one of the Skoda dealers in the north east and they quoted a huge cost for a wheel alignment because they insisted on calibrating the radar as well, in effect charging me a lot of money for something I don't think needs to be done. The other north east dealer isn't doing alignments at the moment. Has anyone else come across this and more importantly, can anyone recommend a place that can do wheel alignments on a superb l&k Thanks
  2. I have done mine a few times using a screwdriver or the key, it is fiddly and I found shining a strong light inside meant I could see the bit I needed to push and so made it easier then 'feeling' for it
  3. My radio stays on until the door is opened, if I want it quiet I press the scroll wheel on the left of the steering wheel to mute it.
  4. I got a massage function working on my car, but only works when wife is in a good mood and is seated behind me
  5. The front right spring on my sons Mk111 has just broken, how far can he drive it as I suspect he wont want to have to pay to have it transported to a garage for them to repair Also, any idea how much it is likely to cost
  6. Is there anyone in the North East of England that can look at my vehicle and if possible do the mod to get the traffic info working again as I do miss its usefulness, at a reasonable cost
  7. I think it stops the engine below 3mph if you have a very light touch on the brake.
  8. I have found an instruction manual, but could someone do an experiment for me. When next in the car, can you turn the dial in the storage area under the arm rest to the open position so air is blowing and then turn the heater to maximum temp and see if the air blows hot or cold into the storage area. I think it should always be cold (or my chocolate will melt) but I am now doubting myself as the instruction manual suggests it blows at the temperature set on the AC unit. Thanks
  9. Lat year the dealer re-did the aircon and then the air blowing into the centre storage are under the arm rest blows the temperature of the heater setting. The Glove compartment only blows cold, as did the storage area. I mentioned it to them and they quite confidently blagged that the L&K doesn't have a refrigerated storage area. I didn't think much of it but it is bugging me again and going in for a service soon I have mislaid my original User Manual and cant find one online (yet) and was hoping someone with a Mk3 L&K 2016 could look in their user manual and send me a photo of the bit that I am hoping tells you how to control the coldness by rotating the dial. I have, due to the foresight of a member on here, got the relevant section out of the 2016 brochure that mentions the 2 cold areas. thanks in advance.
  10. I thought the clutch was a sealed unit, so how did the water get in. BTW, know very little about anything underneath.
  11. thanks for that, a few within 200 miles but some not been on the site for a couple of years and the others seem to be Octavia owners
  12. Is there anyone proficient with the above and able to re-code the car (Mk 3 L&K) so the traffic alerts work again and so the boot button can be used to close it. Obviously I am prepared to pay for your time and trouble.
  13. MP3 files have metadata and the player reads that and not neccesarily the filename etc. Check the properties/details on the music files on the computer.
  14. Is there anyone near newcastle upon tyne that can do the fix for a reasonable fee
  15. There is a hinging system under the floor by the back seat that is/was listed on the foreign car part site everyone uses (cant remember its name)
  16. I have read this thread, but to be honest I am completelty lost about all this. So, is there anyone in the North East of england (around Newcastle upon Tyne ) that I can visit and will assess the situation for me and if possible make the relevant adjustments for a reasonable cost as I find TMC valuable when travelling long distances.
  17. DOH !!! I knew that, honest Gov. Thanks folks, I am blaming my foolishness on lack o sleep and alcohol.
  18. Mine had this problem a few years ago. Followed the instructions for removing the handle and by the use of some boiling water in a shallow bowl slowly bent the plastic hook bit back to its original position and not had any problem since then. No adjusting of anything else in the lock/handle mechanism
  19. I just realised that auto-hold has stopped working in my Automatic. I press the brake and the car stops and engine cuts out as start/stop kicks in but no green light on the dashboard and if I lift my foot off the brake the engine starts and the car moves. I have turned the ignition off and back on but still not functioning. Any suggestions as I cant see an obvious button in the settings for turning it on and off. I can do a factory reset if that is likely to work
  20. Once I find time, I will google why it doesn't work, used to work great on my ancient VW
  21. It seems amazing that you have to code a battery into the car and pay a dealer for it. It will be coding tyres next. Crazy
  22. I emphasise that I have not flattened the battery but over the weekend I was running a camping fridge off the cigarette lighter in the boot when driving, and when I stopped I would unlug it to prevent the battery going flat. I have a gizmo that in my previous car would cut the power to the device when the battery level got too low, so no flat battery. It doesn't seem to work in this car, but I was wondering if the car already has such a device connected into the system to prevent such an occurrence.
  23. the glow plug in cylinder 1 just failed on me :( Has been fixed by dealer the next day for £64, so happy with that
  24. The only way I could see to do it would be to get an opposite side driver seat, for example I would find a european drivers seat but even then, where would the cable plug into the loom ?
