  1. I thought the clutch was a sealed unit, so how did the water get in. BTW, know very little about anything underneath.
  2. thanks for that, a few within 200 miles but some not been on the site for a couple of years and the others seem to be Octavia owners
  3. Is there anyone proficient with the above and able to re-code the car (Mk 3 L&K) so the traffic alerts work again and so the boot button can be used to close it. Obviously I am prepared to pay for your time and trouble.
  4. MP3 files have metadata and the player reads that and not neccesarily the filename etc. Check the properties/details on the music files on the computer.
  5. Is there anyone near newcastle upon tyne that can do the fix for a reasonable fee
  6. There is a hinging system under the floor by the back seat that is/was listed on the foreign car part site everyone uses (cant remember its name)
  7. I have read this thread, but to be honest I am completelty lost about all this. So, is there anyone in the North East of england (around Newcastle upon Tyne ) that I can visit and will assess the situation for me and if possible make the relevant adjustments for a reasonable cost as I find TMC valuable when travelling long distances.
  8. DOH !!! I knew that, honest Gov. Thanks folks, I am blaming my foolishness on lack o sleep and alcohol.
  9. Mine had this problem a few years ago. Followed the instructions for removing the handle and by the use of some boiling water in a shallow bowl slowly bent the plastic hook bit back to its original position and not had any problem since then. No adjusting of anything else in the lock/handle mechanism
  10. I just realised that auto-hold has stopped working in my Automatic. I press the brake and the car stops and engine cuts out as start/stop kicks in but no green light on the dashboard and if I lift my foot off the brake the engine starts and the car moves. I have turned the ignition off and back on but still not functioning. Any suggestions as I cant see an obvious button in the settings for turning it on and off. I can do a factory reset if that is likely to work
  11. Once I find time, I will google why it doesn't work, used to work great on my ancient VW
  12. It seems amazing that you have to code a battery into the car and pay a dealer for it. It will be coding tyres next. Crazy
  13. I emphasise that I have not flattened the battery but over the weekend I was running a camping fridge off the cigarette lighter in the boot when driving, and when I stopped I would unlug it to prevent the battery going flat. I have a gizmo that in my previous car would cut the power to the device when the battery level got too low, so no flat battery. It doesn't seem to work in this car, but I was wondering if the car already has such a device connected into the system to prevent such an occurrence.
  14. the glow plug in cylinder 1 just failed on me :( Has been fixed by dealer the next day for £64, so happy with that
  15. The only way I could see to do it would be to get an opposite side driver seat, for example I would find a european drivers seat but even then, where would the cable plug into the loom ?
  16. So the consensus is book it into a reliable local garage (not a dealer) for an oil drain, filter change and refill the oil, set the onboard computer to say it has been done and have the brake pads checked. In effect the yellow column of the graphic. What about changing brake fluid as I don't think that has been done before, although there seems no issues with braking. Also, where is the pollen fitted as that must be an easy thing to do.
  17. the car is 6 years old, done 51,000 miles. Is meant to be on fixed servicing at least that is what the dealer told me, although it was on variable when I bought it. dealer service for first 4 years, last year had belts and water pump changed. The Service Plan is whatever Skoda was flogging a few months ago. A few years ago I saw the bespoke plan advertised, which was all in everything included, but none of the dealers near here knew anything about it and I rang Skoda and they quoted me a monthly amount that would have bought a new car. In effect I dont think anyone knew what ot was, and someone eventually admitted to knowing about it but said it was only for new cars, which seemed silly as the plan could have included tyres, but did seem to include all the stuff that wears out in year 5 and 6 From your graphic, I am tempted just to have an oil change, oil and pollen filter change and find an independent to recharge the AC
  18. I just got the Oil change and Inspection warning, no problem, was expecting it. But ! Signed up for the Skoda Service plan a few weeks ago when it was on a special offer and it is (apologise for wrong terminology) Big Service, Little Service, Big Service. So should I just pay for the oil change and inspection at Skoda, or use a local master mechanic garage, or use a Service from the scheme ? thanks
  19. I wonder if the SDcard had a recovery partition on it at some time and that was why it had 2 partitions.
  20. you could also find a local superb driver with a SD card that works, meet in a pub car park and try his card in your car and vica versa, just to confirm the infotainment unit is working
  21. mine has just done this, dont see how it is a firmware issue as no update that I know of in the 6 years I have had the car, hope it works next time
  22. I find that weird, I would have thought the key would have told the car to unlock the doors based on the settings, but it would seem the key tells each door to unlock and obviously runs out of oomph by the 4th door
  23. I have all my stuff on a SD card and works fine but the are all MP3, not AAC which I think is itunes default.
