  1. So the consensus is book it into a reliable local garage (not a dealer) for an oil drain, filter change and refill the oil, set the onboard computer to say it has been done and have the brake pads checked. In effect the yellow column of the graphic. What about changing brake fluid as I don't think that has been done before, although there seems no issues with braking. Also, where is the pollen fitted as that must be an easy thing to do.
  2. the car is 6 years old, done 51,000 miles. Is meant to be on fixed servicing at least that is what the dealer told me, although it was on variable when I bought it. dealer service for first 4 years, last year had belts and water pump changed. The Service Plan is whatever Skoda was flogging a few months ago. A few years ago I saw the bespoke plan advertised, which was all in everything included, but none of the dealers near here knew anything about it and I rang Skoda and they quoted me a monthly amount that would have bought a new car. In effect I dont think anyone knew what ot was, and someone eventually admitted to knowing about it but said it was only for new cars, which seemed silly as the plan could have included tyres, but did seem to include all the stuff that wears out in year 5 and 6 From your graphic, I am tempted just to have an oil change, oil and pollen filter change and find an independent to recharge the AC
  3. I just got the Oil change and Inspection warning, no problem, was expecting it. But ! Signed up for the Skoda Service plan a few weeks ago when it was on a special offer and it is (apologise for wrong terminology) Big Service, Little Service, Big Service. So should I just pay for the oil change and inspection at Skoda, or use a local master mechanic garage, or use a Service from the scheme ? thanks
  4. I wonder if the SDcard had a recovery partition on it at some time and that was why it had 2 partitions.
  5. you could also find a local superb driver with a SD card that works, meet in a pub car park and try his card in your car and vica versa, just to confirm the infotainment unit is working
  6. yep, 30 mins later when I next started up, all normal
  7. mine has just done this, dont see how it is a firmware issue as no update that I know of in the 6 years I have had the car, hope it works next time
  8. I find that weird, I would have thought the key would have told the car to unlock the doors based on the settings, but it would seem the key tells each door to unlock and obviously runs out of oomph by the 4th door
  9. I have all my stuff on a SD card and works fine but the are all MP3, not AAC which I think is itunes default.
  10. i am on 5 years old and 40,000 miles and both my front ones leaked out of warranty. Got bilstein ones. make sure the bilstein set includes the connector wires as the original skoda ones aren't long enough
  11. I tried to set up a bespoke plan and the dealer said they never heard of it and to contact skoda, skoda didnt really know anything about it and eventually someone said they would send me a quote, which was about the same price as paying monthly for a brand new car. Gave up in the end.
  12. I have had to do the same and i decided to go for the Bilstein as the Skoda ones to my mind failed at least 8 years to early (never ever had to replace them on any previous car which are often 12 years old by the time I change) and so why buy something that failed. If you do go for Bilstein, make sure they come with the electrical cable as the Skoda one currently fitted is too short and if they aren't in the box it takes weeks to get them supplied. Car still drives, just the warning light dings every time you drive
  13. This topic is really useful as is the related on "Ignition switch (w/ Kessy) restoration" I dont know who does these things, but a bit of editing could combine the two and it could be copied into the Skoda Superb Guides forum
  14. Mine was getting to the point where I pushed it too hard and the front disc started to tear (see photo). So ordered two from the place in the Czech Republic (last one lasted 4 years hence an expectation that the new one will only last that long as well) and they arrived 3 days later. They use a UK VAT number so nothing else to pay. Just fitted it in about 90 mins, including looking for tools I forgot to take out, following the instructions on here. The metal ring around the switch popped off the housing with the switch still on which made it a little easier. When I tried to push down the silver side lugs I didnt manage it and one popped off but it looks like it was slotted on so if you are looking to repair the switch, it should slip back on OK. All in all a reasonably easy repair and now the slightest touch starts the engine. I didn't disconnect the battery during the job.
  15. Also, a new one will come with primer, so you would need to spray it to match the existing colour
  16. Glad you found the source, but as non one else has it (and I guess it wasn't an optional extra) there must be a fault there
  17. That doesnt sound good. If you have the bonnet open when you turn the engine off you may be able to hear which part of the engine it is coming from. My first thought would be to keep an ear on the cooling fan. If it happens every time, then a trip to a garage may be needed
  18. Which UK dealers are people ordering from. I have contacted (by web enquiry page) 2 local dealers and had no response. I am thinking of ordering from START Button Škoda 6V0905217WHS (skoda-parts.com) but shipping is expensive, so if others want to contact me privately we may be able to arrange a bulk purchase into this country and then I post on.
  19. I think there is an option in settings for opening doors, I think options are drivers door OR all doors
  20. Start here and then do a search, long threads about this and easy (temporary) fix
  21. right hand scroll wheel, the one used to change the selection of functions, the left one changes volume up or down
  22. mine does look worn, will take a photo next time I have it removed, I was wondering if a thickish layer of gorilla glue or similar would work, or maybe a piece of thread glued along where it is worn. Anyone know if the back piece from the back door can be swapped over with the front door.
  23. I like the 2 year parts warranty but I bet they claim wear and tear. When I first bought my car I didnt notice some blemishing on the chrome trim round the window. Took the car to have a protective seal put over it and they pointed it out. Went back to the dealer and they said not their problem, I had obviously used the wrong type of car wash detergent.
  24. I had a pair fitted to the front and mine turned up without the cables, and are taking an age to get. Still annoyed the originals failed within 5 years as I have never had any fail in all the other cars I have had. Also had to have the brake disks changed at the same time as the pads.
  25. I think the driver door may not be affected as it has a metal key lock built into it, so probably slightly different alignment. You mention ordering a new end cap, which part is that ?
