  1. Yes i finally got this sorted after finding another post from someone with a broken cable & someone showing a photo of the correct way the cable hooks up, once seen this it all made sense, as for your broken spring don't know if it's possible to find a spring that will do the job & i don't think the spring is an available part, your best bet would be to just buy a new lock as they are not that expensive, i replaced my lock because the spring was rusted & stretched a little in one spot so thought best to change it before it snaps as it would of done eventually
  2. Hi did you ever find a solution to this? i have same problem with my mk1 Octavia, have just new front panel fitted & now they have pulled the release cable across the engine bay & it's not in the bottom clip on the wing & is connected in the side of the lock for left hand drive cars which is very wrong as it is bent tight around the front panel, some of the metal sheath on the end of the cable casing is missing, either corroded or been removed on purpose to make the plastic retainer go over so it will fix up to the other side but i have the same issue where my lock lever wont move to the right of the car for the cable connected up for right hand drive, it will only pull to the left & i don't know how as for years it has been setup fine for right hand drive, have even bought another lock & it is the same will only move one way, just don't know at all how to resolve this but need a solution to getting it fixed up correctly again or it's going to end up snapping the lever inside the car or something as it is that tight to open
  3. Hope someone can help with how to correctly setup a bonnet lock & release cable to work correctly on a 1999 Octavia right hand drive car, problem i've got is my car has been in at a garage to have a new front panel fitted & the bonnet release cable is now linked up to the side of the lock for left hand drive, when i look at it they have managed to do this by the metal sheath on the end of the cable housing either being corroded or they have shortened it & forced the plastic retaining square over this to get it to go in to the side of the lock for right hand drive, now you might say simple answer is connect it to the other side as these locks have notches in both sides of the lever but this is where the other problem starts, for some reason that lock & another lock i have just bought for some reason only seem to want to open to the left hand drive side of the car & the lever does not want to move to the other side to allow the lock to open with the release cable connected from the side for right hand drive, this is really puzzling & don't know how to sort it out & connect it up & get it working correctly again, hope someone can help. please also see photo detailing problems & help me sort this issue out
