Thanks - from the looks of all your modifications it looks like you know what you're talking about. However I can't find one single fuse that is associated with lights - it appears to be split left/right and then indicators separate again. I would have thought the problem would be traced to one single point, rather than several fuses going bad at once. Regardless - I have left the car alone for over half an hour now and when I started it up two minutes ago the problem has now gone away again. I will keep an eye on it. I'm hopefully replacing it with a new Octavia soon so I really don't want to spend any money on it.

Hi, I just drove down to my local Tesco just fine, but on the way back, on starting the car, the display in the dashboard told be to check EVERY light bulb on the car. This took a while for it to cycle through. As far as I can tell, the front main and dipped beams are working, the indicators on the corners light up orange but don't flash (the mirrors do flash and the green arrows on the dash flash quicker than normal). I can't tell if brake lights and reversing lights work as I'm here on my own. This happened once before ages ago, but went away after I stopped and restarted the car. Now it seems to be persistent. Any ideas?

Mine is currently being looked at. I'll respond again when I know more. Typically, the buttons were not working when I got in it this morning, but when I demonstrated it to the tech, they worked just fine.

Cheers guys, I know you can't change a lot of the settings while you are moving, but this is everything. I can scroll through the MFD OK, but pushing the right scroll wheel does nothing. Same with the phone and back buttons. I had a couple of text messages today, and I could scroll between "Show" and whatever the other option is just fine, but pushing the scroll wheel did nothing. Again - it worked absolutely fine at lunchtime. I took the car out and went and parked up somewhere quiet to read through the manual and have a fiddle with stuff. Everything worked. I could scroll through and select every option I could think of on the instrument cluster. Got back in the car after work and it worked for about 30 seconds, then nothing. It's booked in Monday morning. The driver's heated seat doesn't work either, so they are looking at that too.

Weird... Obviously I tried the buttons on my way into work this morning and they were not working. Just been out now (lunch time) and everything works perfectly. Annoyingly, I just booked it into our local VW specialist before I got up and went out! Maybe they only work between the hours of 12 & 2?!

Hmm... OK. It came from a second hand car dealer, but I noticed a couple of things wrong, so it went to a VW specialist run by a friend of a friend for those items to be corrected, which is why I felt OK about buying it. I might ring them tomorrow.

Yeah, the scroll bars work for scrolling, but not pushing them..

Thanks bigjohn, I just went out to the car and tried it without my phone, but it made no difference. I paired my phone first thing at lunch time, then played with all the settings with no trouble at all. It was later on, after work, that I noticed none of the push buttons on the steering wheel work at all suddenly. The scroll wheels do work, so I can adjust the volume of the radio, and scroll through the menus, I just can't select anything.

Hi, this is my first post here after I picked up a 2009 Superb this morning. I spent my lunch break in the car setting up all the toys using the steering wheel buttons and the display on the instrument cluster, but when I just got in it to drive home, none of the buttons seem to work any more. I can use the scroll wheels to adjust the volume and scroll through options on the display, but if I press any of them (like the phone button, or the right hand scroll wheel to OK/Enter) nothing happens. Yikes! Please tell me this is something simple that I'm doing wrong... it was working fine earlier. Thanks Dave
