  1. Hi Brigade I have used your files for years always with great success. I tried this one on my car and my wife's and for some strange reason the cameras are shown but not all register with the alarm sound. Some do some don't. Never had this before .... Have I done something wrong? Both our cars have the latest EU/UK Skoda maps installed . Any advice will be gratefully received . Thanks
  2. Today driving home at night I was sitting in traffic and the speedometer , then the rev counter white lit markings for mph and revs started showing pale orange and lit in pale orange in a circular motion sweeping clockwise and then reverted to the usual white . This kept happening all journey home . OK for a minute or two then sweeping pale orange clockwise. Both dials and not always at the same time! Looked like a blackpool light display! Can anyone please help advise what the hell is going on .. near impossible to concentrate with this weird effect! 2016 model only 39000 on clock . Many thanks
  3. That's exactly what I did and whilst copying windows said cannot transfer as the folder exceeds the 4GB limit :( Thanks I will try that - it was next on my list to try. Just don't understand why every time I add new destination it asks for the country and I have to scroll down the entire europe list to get to UK . Surely the bloody thing knows I am in the UK from the GPS ?? It even then has a sub section for england so clunky ..
  4. I have just updated my VrS 2017 Mib 2 unit to 2021 map from the Skoda portal using my VIN as I have twice before. I hit several issues 1) I couldn't extract or copy to the card as t was FAT32 skoda card and win RAR and Windows said the file ( 6GB) exceeded the FAT 32 file limit of 4GB. Called Skoda UK .. who said convert to NFTS .. did and it worked. BUT the new maps inc 1/2 of Europe and when I ask to set a dest then I am asked which country ---- scroll to the bottom of list for UK , then chose country again !! England. Then town before I get the pstcde . The map is out of date as It still doesn't show the A14 Cambridge which was completed over a year ago! Speed limits are wrong in several areas. Every time I ask for a new destination I have to go through the whole rigmarole of selecting country ! Never had these issues before. Can anyone help or so I rip the whole unit out and fit a decent sat nav! I prefer sygic but it won't link to the infotainment system . I get voice but not maps. Sick of the awful Skoda navigation Thanks

  6. HERE HERE! Also the Timing belt issues where the incorrect mix of tensioner , belt etc cause premature failure and again NO RECALL. This is the last Skoda /VW/AUDI i or my wife will buy .. I have owned Audi.VAG Skoda for 40 years and NEVER again! Because of their lying , failure to recall and refusal to honour warranty . We have both had silicate issues and my wife also timing belt issue with her TDi both VrS 2017 and 18! Pathetic .. Nice cars f**ed by poor parts worth pennies but causing 1K£ damage ....
  7. that's next step .. the issue at preset is getting the screaming to repeat in the garage .. he heard it in the car park but not on the ramp .. We are waiting for him to re examine the car from cold part stripped to see if the scream repeats . Obviously the more stripping the more the cost to us . As ever intermittent issues especially only when cold are a bugger to chase . :(
  8. we don't know until we ask Skoda UK to foot the bill .. hence the post by my wife asking if anyone else had had this problem and success with claiming from Skoda UK for an issue hidden by a TSB rather than a recall notice in such a low mileage car. I have lost all faith with Skoda and Skoda franchisees over the last 3 years . Until we both bought VrS based on a Octavia we owned for years I thought Skoda were ok but now less so .. nice car .. Not as nice as Audi but less ££££ but the Skoda care and warranties seem like wet tissue :( Thanks very much for your comments .. appreciated
  9. I understand what you are saying but the video I posted is from Skoda as part of the TSB and it clearly shows screaming not clattering and rattling . It sounds very like the mp3 files I posted of our car .That's why the tech and I are so wary . Ignore TSB and just do accessory belt .. get cambelt failure and neither the garage of Skoda will want to know. Last time he tried the damn thing didn't scream as the engine was warm. Which also fits the TSB ,, he is going to try again in a day or so to see if the scream will repeat with the covers off . It is a bummer :(
  10. That's exactly what I thought hence blipping the engine. BUT the tech says the tech service bulletin and an accompanying video is saying that the timing belt for this engine # may have issues that appear as a screaming belt only when the engine is cold .. hence the concern. This is the Sk 000419.mp4 oda video they send to technicians who experience belt scream on this engine
  11. I have done this and posted later in the thread ... thanks for listening
  12. our garage cannot yet distinguish .. but are concerned about the TSB re: premature timing belt issues due to belt/tensioner compatibilty issues resulting in screaming only when cold ... I have posted the audio later if you are able to listen.
  13. This is the squealing sound converted from video. The longer piece is 1st time start up and the screaming appears at the end. The shorter piece is the same video but a few seconds later . Anyone able to decide if this is the cold start timing belt issue due to tensioner/belt incompatibility reported under TSB or accessory belt ? Thanks 20210303_102956.mp3 20210303_103141.mp3
  14. The car was bought brand new and has actually only done 16900 miles and is 3 years and 3 months since my wife bought it . Thanks
  15. We are .. thanks I am getting them hard copies .. will scan and post here when I receive
  16. It's 3 years and 2 months old and only 20K miles . If it needs doing Skoda are facing a court action if they don't assist .. sorry .The bill is for genuine Skoda parts inc pump timing kit , accessory belt and software update due to catalytical issues . Upto my wife whether she keeps it . Yes if we use non genuine parts it is cheaper .. also NO warranty .. from Skoda or our garage .. point for those who use local dealers and non genuine parts :(
  17. we shall .. my wife was just trying to be independent of me and also wondering if others with this model and time period had suffered these issues and whether they had any satisfaction from Skoda UK .. the dealerships are useless so it will fall back to Skoda UK one way or another . The key issue is ... is it accessory belt squeal due to moisture , pulley issues or timing belt/tensioner issues ?. The issue is IF it is the latter then it is £1000 as a genuine timing belt kit comes complete with belt tensioner and pump anything else isn't covered by parts warranty and out garage will not do it . If it is the accessory belt .. leave alone .. BUT if the timing belt subsequently fails neither Skoda or our garage will any have any liability and we have an £8000 bill for a new engine in a low mileage car! .. Hence her concerns and seeking help on this esteemed forum. My knowledge of mechanics stopped in the 70's with carburettors and real engines .. . I have a VrS 230 petrol .. and the excess electronics and inability to do anything without removing 1/2 the car really pees me off :(
  18. Skoda changed the belt and tensioner during manufacturing 3 times n the short period of this model and these changes have resulted in incompatibilites and premature failures acknowledged by their TSB . It is all original equipt on. this car
  19. just to chime in here the timing belt isn't slipping - the hidden Skoda TSBs say that due to variations in timing belts 3 different ones used in this period! and some issue with tensioners there is premature screaming and wear of the timing belt heard only at cold due to the belt sliding into the tensioner edge causing the scream and premature wear. It is sliding laterally and contacting the tensioner not slipping in rotational terms which would of course result in total engine failure die to valves being driven through the pistons etc . Premature failure may result due to the friction between belt and tensioner but of course as it's an IN HOUSE TSB not a recall they claim no liability even within the warranty period ! On the same VIN and engine numbers range thee are 3 separate TSBs saying that premature failure of the accessory belt pulleys in the alternator and pump are a possible issue. There is a 3rd TSB stating that the ECU must be updated or premature failure of the catalytic converter will result! .. Nice one Skoda! So my wife is facing a £1000 bill outside warranty .. so we are looking at legal action as the mileage is so low and due to CV19 and shielding we haven't had chance to find this series of issues until now :(
  20. I have a VRS which I bought 2nd hand 11 months ago. Park pilot is set to auto and has worked great . Suddenly yesterday Pulled upto lights stopped - n neutral car get close behind park pilot kicks in shouting and showing the screen and the P switch on the console lights up. I drive away BUT the screen stays on P Pilot and doesn't cancel. Used the switch to cancel it. Got home reversed PP comes on and again doesn't cancel when I disengage gear or even move off in 1st. Had to cancel again using the lit P btton. Have tried turning off auto PP on the menu - but still get an issue of it coming on and not cancelling. Any one out there had this or know what may cause this behaviour please? Thanks
