  1. Can anyone please tell me if rear springs are the same for the estate and the hatchback ? When I replaced mine on my 2009 estate I was told by the supplier they were the same but the back end seems a little low to me, especially when the car is loaded up. I would have though an estate would need beefed up springs ? Many thanks
  2. To be fair it does work hard, I basically used it as a posh van, probably the reason the spring broke in the first place .
  3. Yes both checked and have the same part number etc and still the same after 50 miles or so. If I can't work out what is going on I will swap the springs side to side and see what happens.
  4. Wondering if this is a normal situation or not ? Yesterday I noticed that the o/s rear of my mk2 face lift estate was lower than usual so I suspected a broken spring. Sure enough the spring on that corner had snapped right near the bottom so I have spent an hour today and replaced both rear springs, this has raised the ride height on both sides but the o/s is still slightly lower by maybe 15mm. All of the rubbers are present and in good condition and both front springs look fine, I assume that is should be level side to side but should it ? Any ideas folks ?
  5. I got the 75mg one which comes with just one tablet (Asda £4.95), so far it's still working and I recon it may only have captured half a cup of water but it seems that's enough to make a big difference. Last year condensation was a pain but not any more.
  6. I love the Octavia but I have to admit that in 20 plus years of Ford and Vauxhall company cars misting up to this extent has never been an issue, so what is different ?
  7. Hadn't even thought of that tbh , there is more to this than meets the eye ..............
  8. After problems with fogged up windows last winter I bought a "minky" moisture trap from Asda for a fiver , it is the perfect size to fit the bottle holder in the door pocket and has completely cured the mist problem in my 09 estate. No more waiting for the heater in the mornings.
  9. Many thanks all for your thoughts I will have to see what happens when the sun shines again . The only thing is that it's not really that cold here yet and it was a very sudden change in performance ie the day I changed the cam belt. I do wonder if maybe it was incorrect before with low power and fuel consumption and now it's as it should be ? Incidently what torsion setting has been found to work best ? I know the recommendation is 0.0kw but mine ran quite poor at that setting.
  10. That is interesting, may just have to wait for warmer weather then, thing is I only noticed the change after the new cam belt but I guess that also coincided with the change in the weather. I have definitely changed something though as it feel like I now have extra 20 tourque, it just feels more crisp if that makes sense. By the way it is high millage for the year at 122 k
  11. Hi Everyone, this is my first post on here so please be patient . I have had my 2009 Octavia 1.9pd for a year now and it has been great and is used for all sorts of tasks. I carry out my own spanner work and have fitted a Valeo single mass kit as well as normal service work but my issue is will MPG. Until recently I could get 50 mpg with local driving and on a run 60 plus however since replacing the timing belt this has dropped of a fair bit. The belt was fitted using the correct tools (fully inserted) and then checked on vag com which gave a reading of -1.5kw the car now pulls really well, better than before the belt, I reset to 0.0kw and the power dropped off so it is now set at -1kw this gives decent power but I have lost at least 5mpg. Sadly I couldn't check the torsion value with the old belt so I don't know where it was set. There is no smoke now but there was before, the only issue is the poorer MPG Any ideas folks ?
