  1. Just found this thread.

I need to remove this black cover too. I have got the wiper arms off (two pin puller and some WD40 was essential) and I can lift the cover, which is in 2 parts (left and right) from the front but it seems to be 'bonded' to the wind screen. Are there any clips or is there a technique to doing it. Last thing I want to do is break it. No worries with the cold, its the hottest October on record and already 22 outside.

    Cheers

  2. Hi,

The missus did a 360 on the A17 recently and managed to "scratch" the tail pipe on my vRS (as well as a few other minor mods). The repair garage have fixed the scratched exhaust by sand blasting most of the chrome off and they are now saying that is how it came out of the factory.

Could someone please post a photo of a Mk1 vRS standard exhaust so I can show the dumbass garage the extent of the chrome?

I've been searching all day and trawled through 1,000s of photos including almost all of detailingworld.co.uk

    Many thanks

    Donk

  3. Mine's not a dsg and its a manual gear box but i've been taking it easy for the first 1k or so, like it say's in the owners manual.

However according to every man and his dog at work i should be opening her up a lot in the first few miles to get good mpg figures later on. One of them was a tanker driver and he said they have to thrash their diesel HGV engines to see good mpg figures.

Anyone else heard of this or sugestions for breaking in?

I'd stick with what it says in the manual...

  4. Tempted as I'm in the Midlands this weekend. Is this just Briskoda or others too?

edit: Just seen the location and I think it's a bit north of where I'm staying (south Leicestershire) to make it worthwhile.

You're more than welcome and I'd like to meet the legend that is your good self!

I didn't request the original meet I just picked it up when I saw it left alone. Personally everyone is welcome!

  5. Original thread and discussion here

Suggested meeting time is 11:30am. This should give people time to arrive, have a natter and grab some food.

    Full details are:

    Location is *here*

It's dead central, Leics/Notts/Derbys border (in Leics). Close to A50 (good fast road), Close to M1 J24(a) (nuff said) and they are "Car meet" friendly.

    Map *here*

Entrance is off Warren Lane and best place to assemble is round the back. (In the car park and bear left).

Food is better-than-average but not the very best.

Please stick your name down if you're coming along.

  6. Day meet for me..... got to drive to Devon in the evening!

I'm with you on that one. The "day meet" I mean, not the drive to Devon. Not that there's anything wrong with Devon, I just don't have a need to go right now :)

  7. "ohgoon2006" started this thread but so far hasn't replied to any of the comments. Anyone know Wes & Jo ?

Also, what to do people prefer??

    Lunchtime meet with lunch option?

    or

Evening meet? (Still not going to be that light in the evening at beginning of March)

I seem to have inherited a monkey that needs feeding... :)

  8. How about *here*

  9. sounds like hard work. mk1. take cap off back twist light out and hey presto. why do they have to complicate things when developing new cars

My guess is to make it less than easy for people to fiddle around in the back of the xenon equipped units and therefore reducing the chances of them coming into contact with the required high voltages.

For me its just a PITA.
