  1. Any tech out there that can recommend the best fluid to fill my transfer case on 2017 Yeti 150 ? I’ve just upgraded from my old 2010 170 Yeti and don’t want to get it wrong. I have to hand some Febi Bilstein 21829 75w90 but not sure if it’s only for the gearbox. Does it have to be fully synthetic ? Thanks. Bob
  2. Sorry for late reply. Cheers for that, you were absolutely correct. It’s GL4 for the gearbox and GL5 for the diff and transfer case. All the best. Bob
  3. The caliper carrier is probably one of the hardest items to remove on the Yeti. My garage had mine on the ramp and still couldn’t release them even with a long bar. It’s insane that Skoda designed them like this. Brake discs are a service item for goodness sake ! To make matters worse for me, the offside rear wheel bearing has cried enough and the rear hub nuts refuse to shift even after concentrating a Firemaster Torch with Ver Map gas on it for 15 minutes solid. Looks like I’m going to have to scrap the rear hubs and driveshafts and replace the lot.
  4. Can anyone confirm that 75w90 oil viscosity is good for gearbox, transfer box and diff on a 2017 Yeti 2.0 150ps ? Thanks. Bob
  5. Front wipers stopped working. Diagnostic comes up with code 0153. No power to motor. Bonnet latch sensor works fine so not cutting off circuit. Checked all fuses, all fine. Must be a wire failure somewhere. Anybody had a similar issue? Yeti 2.0 170 year 2010. Mileage 372,000. Thanks.
  6. Fair comment but Skoda don’t even include these important oil changes on their service schedules. Baffles me why they don’t. Diff, transfer box and Haldex are completely omitted from the service book.
  7. Definitely working perfectly. I live in North Wales and work for the ambulance service driving people up mountainsides and through farmyards all week long. The 4x4 kicks in on a regular basis in these challenging conditions. The Yeti is such a fabulous durable car, would be hard to find a suitable replacement should I ever need to.
  8. Just had my Haldex, diff and transfer box oils renewed. The diff and transfer box were done after 70,000 miles, not 40,000 as Skoda recommend, and the old oil looked pretty clean, so no issues there. I was told initially by Skoda main agent that there wasn’t a filter for the Haldex but yes there was. I got one online for £40. Now I don’t know if this has ever been changed before. It’s not recorded in the service book, and the car is on 340,000 miles. Anyhow, it did look a bit dirty but the 4x4 is working fine but glad I located it and had it changed. As mentioned a few weeks ago, I don’t rush to get diff and Haldex oils done at recommended intervals, last time I did that my mechanic told me I was wasting money as the old oil was so pristine clean.
  9. I’ll report back next week. Car going on the ramp then so I’ll get my mechanic to double check for filter. On the subject, don’t you think it’s dead annoying that there is absolutely no information in the service book for gearbox, diff or Haldex oil changes ? When my car was being serviced at the main dealer under the previous owner, they had to add another line of their own on the schedule to state that the Haldex oil was actually changed. Pretty slack on Skoda’s part.
  10. I live in North Wales so get plenty of opportunities to use the 4x4. I volunteer as a driver to Welsh Ambulance so collect and deliver patients in the remotest places up mountains and recently in a fair bit of snow. So yeah, the Haldex is working fine, maybe I’m just lucky not to have had a problem but I definitely wouldn’t change oil at Skoda recommendations, it wouldn’t be viable for me anyhow, I do 50,000 miles a year.
  11. Nice one mate. 60k only? Blimey, that should last you at least another ten years. Incidentally, did you take yours in for the emissions fix, and if so was it ok ? Left mine as it is.

    Dud battery?

It’s s wierd thing , but my 2010 Yeti does NOT like me having the radio on without engine running. Within 30 minutes a warning will appear on the dash. The battery has been renewed as well. Very strange. Also, glad I don’t have the dreaded stop/start, more to go wrong for sure, just like that other latest gimmick, electronic parking brakes.
  13. My Yeti is a 2010 and there is not a filter listed for this year. I double checked with Skoda main agent and they said it doesn’t have one. I’m aware that later models have them. Car still on original DPF but that’s probably because I do a lot of motorway driving. It had a EGR valve at 230k but it was an easy fix because it was on the front of the engine unlike a lot of them which I believe are buried down the back. As regards oils I have gone for OEM for the Haldex and Febi Bilstein for diffs, transfer box and gearbox. My mechanic used Febi when he did my gearbox 170k ago and I’ve had no issues.
