  1. I have 2014 roomster.. J just bought a Satnav/ Radio / CD player /USB/ Memory card / DVD Double DIN play off Ebay .. Chinese generic VW type . £199,00. Comes with all leads ( Except revesrse camera ) Plug & play ...Old out , new in . No problems ...
  2. Had my Yeti Urban for 3 weeks now( 17" Matterhorns ) & had to get 3 weeks advice off various Yeti forums & friendly salesman about the dreadful , unsettled, po-go ride . Will eventually swap to 16" wheels with 60 wall tyres . . But at the moment Having tested ride at increments of 1lb between 30 & 36 psi ) & car is riding on halfworn Dunlops. --my salesman told me to try 28 psi . Well this resulted in a 50% better ride . He also told me , when time comes , fit Continental contact tyres ( know in the trade for comfort & quietness. Cant quite work out Skodas thinking . ????
  3. all diesels , all makes & models allowance UP TO £ 3,500 . Some more modren Euro Compliant models may escape .
  4. I've never really liked Diesel cars so it doesn't bother me , but if or when Diesel scrappage come in , do you thing the £3500 for your diesel car will be enough ??
  5. Had a few cars with an auto Tiptronic gear change , but never reall y bothered using them all that much. Maybe for a long steep hill decent but that was about it. I have a Petrol 1.6 auto Fabia 3 with a tiptronic feature , so today I thought I might spend my entire 42 mile trip using the manual change feature only. Started off in D then fipped stick across to Tiptronicat the top of my road & off we went. I quite enjoyed usint the slap -stick &as under normal driving my Auto seldom gets up int 6th gear ,selecting it manually was quite a treat & obviously aided economy . I could see the feature being useful for a towing vehicle or living in a very hilly area . However I don't think I would keep using it as a regular practice . My X type jag has a " J " Gate I occasionally use D/4/3 on that but usually just use D in that also & rely on Kickdown. Anybody else find Tiptronic useful ?
  6. Your UNI & City wont thank you for driving a dirty , rattly , carciogenic diesel . ( I don't think they will be with us much longer ) . So a 105 Bhp petrol sound about the sensible choice !!
  7. Skoda dealers sound as daft as Jaguar dealers . Find yourself a good Indy , it wont affect your warranty if they use approved parts & the book gets stamped up.
  8. Just bought an 08 a few weeks back for a similar price . Mk 2 level 3 all bells & whistles . Only difference I dont do diesels since long before the VW Diesel scandal , & mine is an automatic estate . Great build quality , loads of room in a small car , comfy seats , reliable so far . Down side ..if you have 16" wheels with 45 profile tyres ..Rough ride over broken surfaces , bit bang& crash over pot holes , but does hold the road well. Good paint work , enough poke from 1.6 petrol engine . Diesel will be much lower tax & better economy . ( this doesn't worry me ) .Easy to park .
  9. Our old 52 plate 1.4 16v auto Combi was £280.00 well OTT & more than my 2.5 v6 Petrol Jag.
  10. Thanks for the reply Estate Man ..your comments are much appreciated ....Pete .
  11. Just checking to see if there are many 1.6 petrol auto Mk2 owners on here . What do you like / dislike about this particular car. Does this estate have a rear anti roll bar ...if not is it a beneficial mod . Even with the low profile tyres I find the 16" wheels still don't eliminate body roll. Current tyres are good condition but Budget brand ....I want to stick to 16 wheels but decent brand ideas would be welcome ...
  12. Thanks for replies folks .. I did some investigation today & found half the problem is not tyre crash movement , but tyre crash noise . The noise makes it all worse than it is . Anyway the cheap budget tryes are smack on Skoda recommended pressures not a couple of lbs. out here & there . Also screwed the spare wheel down tight so no vibe or movement . Next , covered the sare wheel with a wool, foam, foil picnic blanket folded 3x thickness & the boot wooden floor jammed firmly on top secured down with luggage bungees . Then 2 x Tarpaulins ( thin lidl ones) held down with the bungees & a plastic shopping box that holds my screenwash jug & spare oil. Test drive down usual pot hole Rd . tyre nosie down 50% , pot hole bang crash down by 60% , luggage compartment boom cave almost gone . with correct pressures & a bit of sound deadening car is now acceptable ( to my Mrs ) & correct pressures have impoved handling no end .
  13. Fabia Estate 16" rims with 205 /45 tyres are bang , crash , wallop . I want to retain the 16" alloys . Would 205 /55 's fit OK without to much detrimental affect . ie, roadholding , noise , body roll , rubbing etc... Anbody tried this , or have an opinion .
