  1. • 2.0 tfsi 220 • 2016 VRS hatch • 91,000 miles • Cambelt n/a uses a chain • 6 speed manual • Gearbox oil original • No major work yet, but power steering starting to make noises approaching full lock and drop links creaking slightly (I blame speed bumps and crappy potholed roads) • Original clutch and flywheel Also, having spent its last 85,000 miles as a private hire vehicle, the interior has held up much better than expected, especially when you consider all the 'great unwashed' that have sat in it!
  2. My handbrake has gone the same way, being a taxi driver, I find myself tapping along to music on it whilst waiting for a job, I think my wedding ring is to blame.
  3. It's a manual, a full tank will get you somewhere inbetween 350 and 400 miles depending on the nature of the jobs you do and how much you exploit the extra bhp. You'll get a fair few compliments on your car if you get a petrolhead in and that can lead to extra tips 😉. The 19s look great admittedly, but the ride can be a little unforgiving over anything but perfect tarmac. Plus the tyres are a little more expensive. That said, the car's a joy to drive, I don't regret running a petrol and the repairs are a little cheaper, no dpf for a start.
  4. Hi, I'm running a 2016 tsi vrs as a private hire at the moment, around the houses you'd be looking at 31-34mpg, on a run 40-44mpg. Not great, but not disastrous either. Hope this helps.
  5. If you open and close the driver's door it also unlocks the boot.
  6. How embarrassing. I checked my oil a few weeks ago and it needed a top up. No problem, I put 500ml in, checked the dipstick and off I went. A few days later, my EML illuminated. No symptoms other than an occasional fluctuating idle. Rang the garage, they told me to bring it down and they would plug it into their computer, still under warranty. After having the car from 9am to 4.30pm I received a phone call that my car was ready to pick up. The 'fault' - oil filler cap not properly seated. This causes a pressure drop in the engine and registers as a fault. In my defence, it was dark when I filled it up
  7. I drive a 16 plate vrs 220 as a private hire car. A full to the brim tank registers as approx 400 miles range. A day working around town with plenty of stopping and starting will average 30-35 mpg. A recent 440 mile round trip from Middlesbrough - Luton airport and back showed 43 mpg and managed on a full tank with 20 miles range left when I got home. All in all, when you consider the performance you get, not too bad.
  8. Just arrived home from Middlesbrough - Luton airport - Middlesbrough on one tank in my tsi 220 vrs. 450 miles in total (ave speed 59mph from start). Mpg from start according to the car was 43.9. I've still got 20 mile range showing on mfd. I'll fill it to the brim with 99 momentum tomorrow as a treat!
  9. Just had my update carried out. Apparently the update is to the energy management module (update name 90k1). It took 45 minutes. Didn't notice any difference on the drive home.
  10. I don't know what it's for either, but I had a voicemail left by my dealer today saying there was a software update available for my car (2016 vrs tsi). He stressed it wasn't safety related. I'm loathed to get these 'updates' as everything's working fine, if it ain't broke, don't fix it!
  11. If someone lowers the rear window slightly on my 16 hatch there's an annoying pulsating sensation in the eardrums at speeds over 30. If you drop a front window slightly it goes away. The best solution though, is to press the window child lock and tell anyone who asks that they're broke
  12. Hi all, I'm new here. Here is a pic of my 16 plate vrs workhorse. Not quite as arty as everyone else's pics but a pic any closer would've highlighted how filthy it is. Not bad for a taxi though
  13. Yeah, even the most tipsy customers know to keep pressing 2 on their phone and a car will arrive.
