  1. I am just checking which connector ? Is it on the reservoir or the engine? Thank you
  2. I knew you guys would know so thanks. It is a holiday here so no chance of any garage services until later next week. Can I free up this shroud somehow or just do the connector disconnect option. Not sure where the pump is but guess front of the engine - follow the water pipes? It is probably due for timing belt kit but we need it for 2 weeks until we get home. I am aware of the reservoir cap issue and was very careful but as it is screw cap I can slowly undo and ensure no massive pressure loss. In fact the first time I took it off there was no pressure I guessed the cap was already loose and therefore low warter pressure was causing the problem but after tightening the cap it still happened so was not this. Really appreciate the instant response as we stuck here without a car.
  3. Car has had issues since towbar fitting as not fully coded. Collected car and driving home overtemp warning came up. Engine did not seem hot but after stopping for a few minutes it went back to 90c and no further problem for weeks. Then it happened again and quickly went back to normal. I put this down to sensor issue. We then loaded up trailer and towing to France and quickly the gauge went up to the red. Once alarm goes off the car goes into limp I think. After stopping it went back to 9i0c and stayed there for the rest of the trip to the ferry about 1 hour drive. In France same problem. Nursed the car along motorway as hills put temp up and we coasted down them to cool down. Then for 200 miles it was rock solid at 90c. ?? Then suddenly went up for no reason and message "add coolant". I could see the reservoir was still full. When I released the cap the water ejecterd from the reservoir via a valve on the side and mostly emptied. I refilled and set off again. The gauge eventually stabilised and we got to our B&B. Next day no trailer attached so we thought no problem but within a mile temp went up again. Stopped to cool down. I noticed the radiator hose was cold.?? water still full. We carried on and nursed to destination. Then after long cool down we drove with heater on full blast 28c to help cooling. The air was warm/cool/warm but not hot. The after getting too hot again the air was blowing cold no heat at all. The rdaitod=r hose was still cold and the pipe from reservoir just warm. Engine is too hot to touch but radiator seems cold so I think thermostat not opening. But on way back home strangely got hot quickly and then after crawling behind a tractor it dropped quickly to 90c. I thern drove brskly for several miles and it stayed at 90c no problem but then did it again. After slowing down it cooled back to normal quickly aND i drove briskly home with no problem (lots of hills). Got out and both fans were roaring away. Reservoir still full. Switched off igniton and one fan switched off and one kept going for 5-10 minutes. Checked radiator hose and still stone cold. What do you guys think please?
  4. Good point! I will test with my trailer with LED's.
  5. I did try that but no joy. I tried to manually child lock it but that does not work either so the car is open until I fix it. I suspect some other issue will arise from this.......
  6. Oh joy! To find out all the faults thta everyone else has had. My rear offside lock is toast and I cannot lock this door. It actuates over every bump which is very annoying. Is there instructions for removing the door card etc. anywhere please?
  7. I will add some information for anyone interested. The fitter was supplied with the technical contact details of the electrical kit supplier to get help with coding. The car was returned with no warning lights or red triangles. On the way home I had an overheat warning (130c). I stopped and checked under bonnet and there was no sign of overheating so I suspect sensors were resetting themselves. No problem since. I switched on cruise control and this was not available so still not working. So I can tow a trailer with all the lights working but ACC not working. Not sure this will ever be fully fixed.
  8. This is what I previously posted re the kit. The garage owner told me he had the scanner and spent a lot on the regular updates requried. He comes highly recommended. I did not ask him what kit he had. He had a list of codes that were required to be changed but there was no code for Lane Assist or Cruise control on that list. I suggested I come to the forum to seek assistance as I know people have these problems. I just have the dash error lights.
  9. Finally had my local garage fit my towbar to MK3 Estate. He has the correct scanner etc. but I have 2 errors. 1. Cruise control not working 2. Lane assist not working. No other warnings coming up so hope this is all. Does anyone have the correct codes to include these items as they are not on the list he had to work from. Thanks all
  10. Having fixed the windscreen leak by resealing the whole screen I now have the gremlins starting. Each time we go over any bump the rear door locks activate. The rear floor was flooded by the leaking screen so I guess this has gotten into the electrics somewhere. Where to start?
  11. Thanks - I have no towbar preparation so will be wiring it all in. No one seems to have done this kit so far so I may be on my own.
  12. Fair point and here is what I have in the box. it includes the 7 pin socket etc. Does this clarify? Many thanks
  13. Has anyone fitted one of these towbars to their MK3 Estate and successfully wired up using the wiring kit supplied? Much appreciate any advice as I think maybe I can handle the fitting but the programming scares me a little.
  14. It was bought from a Main Ford dealer in Ireland and had been imported by them. It was owned by a company in UK for 18 months. Low miles. Full service records etc all in place. It was immaculate and exactly what I was looking for. It could be the dealer had replaced the screen just before we bought it as my wife seems to remember she mentioned some chips in the screen when she viewed. I went down to buy it and I could not find a mark on it anywhere. I never buy a new car unless it was a company car! This was as close as I have ever been to new as a private buyer (Skoda Superb - best in class etc.) Has been great but abused by other idiots in Ireland who often do not care about smacking their doors into your car sadly. I have a few chips to repair to keep it decent. I noticed the damp ingress some time ago but now it pours in! It belted down last night so hopefully no worse now. Will mop up and keep the dehumidifier on. Ferry trip is still on thanks.
  15. All fixed now. The windscreen had been replaced unknown to me as the guys confirmed it. The sealant had not actually adhered to much of the screen as I witnessed. It came out very easily and has been replaced so saving me a lot of cash. Very grateful to Mr Windscreen Ltd who turned up as promised and sorted it at short notice. Now to dry it all out which will require some carpet lifting.
  16. So insurer will not cover the replacement - as predicted. Mr Windscreen hopefully will come and re seal it locally or replace if it breaks, tomorrow. If not there is a cheap ferry ticket going spare to France. This car is 2018 and not had a new screen so simple failure of the bonding.
  17. My garage guy says it is very very loose and not safe to drive (especially in a foreign country). Your comments about pavement parking are nothing to do with me BTW. Different poster.
  18. I have to go through insurance and Autoglass have to check back with insurance before committing as they don't repair unbroken glass but insurance told me to call them so have approved it to me. Now we have to wait for the farce to unravel. There are no windscreen facilities near me (Western Ireland). If it needs rebonding I will pay it but if they break it then its covered anyway! Likely I will be taping it in place to avoid cancelling the trip as its been like it a while now.
  19. UPDATE!! Had a call last night from my local garage man as I could not find any leaks and all drains were clear. He advised the screen was loose!! We are booked on a ferry on Monday. Brilliant.
  20. I plan to remove arch liners and clean out as this was going to be a "keeper". I can hear water sloshing now and so it is a major issue on a fairly new car.
  21. I have no sunroof! It is not that.......?
  22. Could not find any posts on this but sure there must be? I noticed dampness in the front and back footwells which is disappointing but not unusual in many previous cars. This Superb has not been messed with so I am wondering if there is a known issue before I start tearing the thing apart. We have had a lot of rain out in West Ireland but it should not be leaking inside. No obvious signs of ingress when washed/jet washed via door seal. Any ideas? Thanks
  23. I was going to suggest just carrying my old Mitsi L200 bulb kit as it was never used and how would they know which bulb fitted where! It looks the part. You have all confirmed my thinking that it is not practical to have a kit and if a headlight bulb goes how an I going to change it. Wife pressure means I have to make the effort to investigate options. Thanks all.
  24. I am off to France next month and will require a replacement bulb kit to comply with their regs. Is there a source to get these? I know there are various different bulbs in different variants so buying individually would be a bit of a pain. Cheers
  25. Link please? And would you post to Ireland? I have repaired what I have by re seating the shell and reinstalling the broken mirror supported by clear tape. I will need to replace the repeater lamp as this took the hit. Any idea what part number this may be? Everything clicked back into place so I was lucky nothing inside appears to be damaged. Cheers
