  1. I have had a look and can see the part number 926-2371-001 which seems to be the same as the Octavia. Parts are popping up in EU that are the same number with auto dimming and blind spot feature so the same as I have. Looking at the backing plate I cannot see any missing or broken parts - just the glass and the repeater lamp which is also replaceable. The cover has half popped off so I think I need to unscrew the screws and remove the glass then the repeater and hopefully re clip everything back into place. There is zero damage to the painted shell which is a miracle.
  2. Thanks for the info. I only just found a use for the blind spot feature as I was in UK on motorways. Also found the front assist with cruise control which prevents undertaking as well as getting too close the vehicles in front. Not something we need in rural Ireland. So I am looking for simple heated glass replacement with the plastic backing plate and repeater unit. Do we know which of these are the same as say MK2 Superb or other VW cars as MK3 Superb glass seems quite rare.
  3. So I have now had my drivers mirror smashed by another car. It hit the mirror casing around the clear light source on the cover and destroyed the actual glass. The electronics still operate but I need to replace the clear plastic longitudinal light lens and the glass. Is this possible or am I in for a complete unit? Thank you
  4. No dice.....So I went into the system and chose user options. Set driver 2. The mirrors moved into position but not correct. How do I adjust from user settings to correct this misalignment? I cannot see this in the manual. Driver 1 settings are way way off. Should be fairly simple to manually adjust these mirrors as no settings have been changed by us. Of course I can manually move the glass but for this mass of electronics is that the option to use?
  5. Superb estate 2018 seems to have lost wing mirror function. If I manage to get nearside correct and release the toggle the mirror just goes back to where it was. If I try again I can get it to stay and then realise the offside mirror has now moved without any input from me? I am user 2 on the seat position but it only ever shows user 1 on the dash display. Any advice is appreciated Thanks
  6. This is the coding info that came with the kit..... Scan.tiff Cost was 375 euro with 7 pin electrics / detachable ball from Martec.
  7. I have had a tow bar kit sitting here for a year waiting for some clues on the best way to get the coding correct. It is a Jaeger kit from DE. They offer an app. for a lot of money and it is just generic so may nor work very well. Have newer options appeared yet as it seems crazy to have to pay so much to just connect the wiring harness on a modern car.
  8. Thanks all. Been busy. Will do the checks as advised and report back. The car has been starting with the new battery.
  9. Thanks for all the info. The battery is losing charge overnight so the car would not be able to start due to insufficient current. Fundamentally that is an unacceptable problem notwithstanding all the ECU issues and requirements. I connected the charger to the negative ground of the body. I checked the voltage after 4 hours of standing idle and the voltage had dropped in the battery too much. I fitted a new battery with full charge in the evening and in the morning it was not fully charged going by the voltage reading. Is that a car problem or a programming problem?? I am simply trying to find out if this is a known issue. It seems not??
  10. Not sure if this is one of those "known" issues..... Have a 2018 Superb with 80,000km and in very good condition. Recently the battery died and the car is not sitting for more than a day or two but it does have shortish trips - maybe 15-20 km. After twice failing to start the car in the morning I checked the voltage and it was just over 12v. I charged up with decent charger and got it to 13v. It dropped to around 12.75 and stabilised so not great. The charging voltage was 14v+ so the alternator is charging. After several charges overnight and finding low voltage readings I checked for leakage but only a few milliamps. I therefore replaced the battery yesterday and the car was taken out to reset everything. Voltage was 12.85v. This morning the voltage was 12.40V. Enough to start the car but something is wrong. Any ideas ?? Nothing is on as far as I can tell.
  11. I have just taken delivery of a towbar and electrics from Poland which looks good. I plan to fit the tow bar but know the electrics need programming. Anyone done this in Ireland? Would I do the wiring fitting and then let someone do the programming or should I just run the cables and let them connect everything up and program so no issues with electrics.
  12. Thank you. I have spoken to the original dealer in UK and they confirmed first service was done and will send me a copy of that. The next service is 2 years or 60,000? No issues from them but they could not tell me how/why the car ended up in County Kerry , Ireland! It seems fine so guess it will be a keeper. I will now need to get the registration document etc. from the Ford dealer hopefully.
  13. Just replaced an old million miler Octavia with a 2018 Superb estate 2.0 TDI. Bought from a main Ford dealer. I am checking the VIN number on a search site and it says it is a 1.4 gasoline whereas it should be 2.0 diesel. Is there a foolproof site to check the VIN info? I have tried others found in the forum posts but nothing shows up this car..... As it was a main dealer I guess I am covered in the event something is amiss. They were not great in the paperwork department so I will not ask them unless I have to.
