  1. I think so, yes. 4 months on, and give it a wash with PH neutral shampoo, rinse and towel it dry, and looks lovely again. Still beading beautifully.
  2. I admit, I do treat it as though it's a living creature, and part of the family. Keep telling myself it's just an inanimate object for goodness sake, but, but ....BUT.......😍
  3. Heated front screen with the associated heated washer jets.....absolutely awesome, and as a real safety feature, should be standard on ALL cars IMHO. First time I've used them in 'anger', and didn't disappoint.🥰
  4. Bit sad aren't I? CAKE for it's 100,000 mile.😄
  5. For the last 21 months of ownership, the rear wiper wipes occasionally if the fronts are on. A bit annoying sometimes, as quite often, the rear screen is hardly wet. Today though, the auto rear wipe feature has magically stopped...apart from when I reverse. Not sure if I'm pleased or unhappy about this tbh. Haven't altered any settings, not even aware of any for this feature, or has it either developed a fault, or cured itself? I think I quite like it now being a manual function. Stuff you computer, Victory! I'M now in control of this beasts rear wiper! 🥰
  6. Absolute tosh. I am NOT an old and bold 'pilot, I just in the main, DON'T trust computerised systems. They have their uses, such as ABS, and possibly a few other 'driver aids, that actually do help. Most are for nuggets however, that clearly need to go back to a driving nursery school Oh yes, another example of a total waste of time and money, and for something else to go wrong....automatic parking, for idiots that shouldn't actually be on the road if they haven't got the skill to do it themselves. Yes, an expensive and totally unecesssary novelty item ...(to go wrong) ...., to make you passengers chuckle....I know, I've done just that once or twice, I admit it. You sound like the sort of person that advocates driverless computer loaded cars btw...DON'T get me started.
  7. I'd far rather see much more stringent actual on hands stringent compulsory driver training.....like skid control on a skid pan For instance, I was marshalling on the Grizedale Stages rally last December ('23) and the event had to be cancelled mid morning due to the most horrendous snow storm, making the stage impassable. Then came the major , almost military style operation of getting everyone back out from the forest. 6 hours and 2 miles to get out , mainly due to a few having absolutely no idea really on how to drive in treacherous conditions. Going downhill was the most challenging, with several just slamming on the brakes when they started to slide, with the inevitable to follow, blocking the track for everyone else whilst long winded recovery took place from within the trees ditches and undergrowth, and then another 3 hours to drive on the public highway to Newby Bridge, a mere 10 miles away with the same problems. I was in my Fabia vRS with winter tyres, and even that struggled, but made it eventually with no damage fortunately. What a day that REALLY was!
  8. Manuals are horrendous. I thought 'PROPER' blokes never read them anyway!😂 I think I've managed most of the features within the car, all by just trial and error, and general fiddlin' around. Always worked on the assumption that you can't break it, so just twiddle and press away.
  9. It does make us 'older ones' wonder sometimes, just how the hell did we survive back in the 1960's/70's 80's.
  10. Today, I've been into the 'car' menu, driver aids, and have turned off everything that was enabled apart from the nearly useless blind spot warning orange thing that lights up on the mirrors. Should know what's coming up alongside you anyway if you're concentrating. Hope this solves the problem
  11. I DO appreciate, as one person has already stated, that it can and does have its uses in the right circumstances.
  12. All very interesting this, and haven't received the verbal slaughtering I was expecting either! Thank you. As stated, including yesterdays alarming incident, this has happened twice now in 20 months of ownership of this 2016 model. Both times it's been damp, very yesterday, and both times the brakes have come on quite violently, accompanied with the ABS kicking in banging noise. Both occasions very similar, with the car in front braking and then turning left with me doing approx 25mph with what I consider to be a safe and reasonable distance between us. Had enough of this now, as this is clearly an issue for the possibility of the car being rear ended, so going to see my now ex Skoda master tech in his own garage, and ask him for advice and to see if he can go into the menu's to possibly disable it as suggested. Don't want to sell this car, as it has been absolutely brilliant in virtually every other aspect, but I'm finding this feature an absolute nightmare and great liabilty. I DON'T need or want a computer enforcing and over riding my driving style.
  13. I was, but did mention the parking sensors kicking off randomly sometimes whilst moving slowly with not a lot around me. Very disappointing to here 'front assist' can't be disabled. Is that an actual fact? As I mentioned earlier, would not sticking some black gaffer tape over the sensor disable it, with the knowledge it'll throw up some lights up on the dashboard?
  14. Noticed the parking sensors seem to pick up invisible (to me) items when moving slowly too sometimes....mildly annoying, but can tolerate that, as they do serve a good purpose generally.
  15. Need someone to confirm this CAN be dis-abled. I'd welcome that completely. Downright dangerous....... IN MY OPINION.
  16. Was considering placing a piece of black gaffer tape over the sensor on the grille, but I believe that will throw up 'fault' lights' on the dashboard, and can muck up the expensive to fix calibration. Is it worth a try perhaps? not that fussed on the cruise control either tbh, but can just about tolerate that, as the distance monitoring system is adjusted to max on the rocker switch every time I use it. It really did take me by complete surprise earlier, as the distance between me and the car turning left at just under 30mph was completely acceptable without the need for even ME to apply any sort of braking, never mind 'emergency braking' and activating the abs. Without the seat belt, I'd have been launched! Wonder if this system has ever caused a rear end collision? Wouldn't surprise me.
  17. It's just happened for the 2nd time of ownership. Slammed the brakes on so hard the abs kicked in. Totally unexpected, and downright dangerous imo, as the car behind clearly had to slam on too. Good job he wasn't too close. Managed to control my own decisions on braking more than competently without any incidents over the past 50 years, and don't need the help of some artificial 'intelligence' to do it for me now.. Lovely car...apart from this. Sits back and awaits the sarcastic comments of...."ahh, this is progress and regulations now, and you have to accept it. If you don't like it, sell it"
  18. 20 years old in March, and wow, what an absolute gem it's been. Just sayin'. Might have a party for it, and CAKE! It's just had a pressie anyway. Black Magic..... detail valet, and ceramic coating.🥰
  19. On a footnote, I tried the funnel for my 1 litre plastic emergency fuel can, and it didn't open the metal flap, so presumably you'll be a bit screwed if you run out and rely on that?
  20. Ordered one of those funnels now, thanks Ootohere. I was clearly putting the wrong description in the search bar on eBay, and the main dealer didn't even know what I was going on about!!
  21. Bit naughty that, but that's what you can expect from a manufacturer I suppose? I'll stick to my chosen brands thanks.
  22. Absolutely ridiculous that these aren't supplied with the car. Ford do/did
  23. Just a highly recommended DPF maintenance cleaner.
  24. Correct. That's exactly what I want. Went into my local dealer, and they hadn't got a clue what I was talking about. Thanks for your help. I'll order.
