  1. Mine has just started intermittant juddering now. 150 diesel. Really hacked off, as I love the car in every other way, but this was ultimately the reason I got shut of the Octavia vRS 5 years ago, and it was suggested by the main dealer that it was my driving style! Strange, as my 19 year od Fabia vRS is still on its original clutch after 18 years of ownership, with 147,000 k under its wheels, with zero problems at all.
  2. Turning off 'easy opening' didn't solve the problem. I need someone that knows about these things to open the key for me I suspect, and disable that tailgate opening button. Not a delicate job I actually fancy doing myself tbh, in case I 'gub' the whole fob....£££££'s
  3. Just did a search for this very problem and arrived here on this old thread . Gone outside just now to find the tailgate wide open, and very wet in there too due to this incessant rain. God knows how long it's been open. Love the car in every way since I bought it 2nd hand in April....apart from this. This must be about the fifth time this has happened. Last time, the tailgate had been open all night long!
  4. I'm NOT complaining, but really? vRS now well over 18 years old, and it's still working just fine? What the hell is it made of? 🤣
  5. Just bought this from Tangelo Exeter, 29,000, 150 bhp, awesome with added bonus of 'pop out' tow bar to attach the bike rack and caravan ....not both together sadly. Very pleased so far. Not on that reg now, but anyone know it?
  6. Just opened on mine. That annoying beep beep beep as i was opening the curtains. Must have been pressure on the button whilst in my pocket. Remote wouldn't close it though. Going to get it disabled, as this is happening far too often now.
  7. In my experience, once something starts going wrong intermitantly , it's a sign of bigger problems looming. Gut feeling. First happened 3 weeks ago, but all fine until Friday cruising at 50 Engine was full operational normal temp. I'll get it scanned this week. Can't complain really, as it's been an absolutely fantastic car with virtually zero issues in 18 years
  8. Driving along normally, and twice on Friday, I felt a very light 'nudge' through the drive train, and the turbo ceased to function, putting me into 'SDI' mode. No pops, whistles bangs hissing or smoke Turn off, re-start, and all well again.. Clearly this is going to continue, so what should I be checking out? 05 reg vRS, with 145,000 unabused miles, and FULL service history. It WILL be fixed, regardless
  9. I'm sure this used to be a common issue that was discuseed in here 15 + years ago, and iirc there was a 'quick fix' solution to this. I'm pretty sure it's the backrest, as if I lean forward to take the weight of it, it does seem to reduce the noise significantly. Anyone remember what it is please, as the constant racket is really starting to get me down now. Can't believe I've put up with this for several years and only just asked the question, but probably because it's getting worse
  10. My excellent and long standing 1stt class Skoda techie friend is going to check out the cable tomorrow night, and have a new returnable starter motor on stand by, just in case.
  11. Oooo. Thanks for that. Wasn't aware. Would hitting it with a hammer really re-connect the cable, albeit temporarily, though? Tried starting it when I got it back home, and same fault occurred. I'll have a rummage with a hammer again first, and then check out what you suggested too.
  12. vRS finally let me down tonight after 13 years of ownership.😩 Everything lit up as usual, but turned the key and nowt. Nearly dark, no torch, so thought, sod it, ring my breakdown provider GEM. 35 mins of pondering if it could be either the starter motor or the factory fir immobiiser perhaps before the man turned up. After a bit of ferkling, he decided to hit the starter motor with a hammer, full JC style.....and it fired up immediately.😎 Going to cost me this week, but hey ho, mustn't grumble after all these years of superb service from the black terrier. Still love it.
  13. ....I suddenly thought, this lovely Mk1 of mine is still on its original clutch at 137,000 miles, and whilst it's not showing any signs of impending doom, I asked could they remove the map if it starts slipping as soon as I drive off? Oh yes, for a cost probably, and certainly for a re-install when you've replaced the clutch. Think I'll give it a miss for now unfortunately
