  1. Brilliant handfull of information and help, thanks a lot! It makes sense about the weight, Mk1 Vrs used the TDI engine so the springs you say should be the right ones. Those are goong to be my choice, thanks again. I’ll post the result!
  2. Wow, thanks a lot to you all! Much appreciated. I was looking for the part number by myself and figured out that 6Q0511115AA would be the right ones for the rear. But, I’m a bit lost in the front. The 6R0411105AK are the correct ones then? That’s what I understand, but my english level puts me in doubt. Many thanks again in advance!
  3. Thanks a lot @toot!! That was a very usefull link indeed. I’m conscious that oem Vrs aren’t the best springs, but I guess that it is the only option to lower just 15-20mm. I gladly would buy Eibach again, but it would mean a lot of paperwork in Spain as they start from 30mm. Plus, the Fabia is my wife’s car, we mostly use it for commuting. Thanks again!
  4. Hello there, I’m thinking about lowering a bit my fabia II 1.9tdi. I’ve used in the past the bilstein B12 pro kit to lower a Octy Vrs and eventually, I think that’s a pain in the ass for city driving (my city us full of pot holes and speed bumps). Besides, in Spain, if you lower a car under 30mm you have to do an engineering project to pass the MOT test. So, all things considered, thought about using VRS springs that only lower the car 15mm, plus I can safely use stock absorbers. Could anybody help me out and tell me if that’s posible? Anybody could handle me the Vrs springs part number? I’ve been searching in several online shops and that was a nightmare of references! thanks a lot in advance for your help!
  5. Hi again, So I got the software updated to the last version, and still not able to enter into certain modules. Specially, "46 central conv" where I suspect I'll find very usefull coding once I get there. Everytime I get into it, the conection fails ("cannot reach the module") after some trying attempts ("CAN init.. init adress try 1.. init adress try 2.."). Anyway, seems that with the new update I have more coding options, for example at module 17 instruments. But none of the is unabling the light error monitoring. Thus, this is the scan I got this morning, hope you can throw a helping hand. Much appreciated as always! 6. Hi @langers2k Thanks again for your help, you did such a generous job when I was downgrading my headlights haha! I’ll download the new software, it definitely may help. The rest of the errors, what errors?😉 I’ll do a new autoscan and keep you posted. Thanks again!
  7. Hi there! This is Jose from Spain. I´m the owner of a 2010 Skoda Octavia VRS and I´m struggling with a headlight modification I did a year ago. My car (MY2010) is a facelifted version of the 2006 original car, but I retrofited the headlights of the MY2006 for a better look (I hated the facelifted front). 2006 headlights are xenon and non-directional and the car had OEM bi-xenon and directional headlights. After a lot of wiring work and tweaking the car's set up (Hex), I have a perfectly functioning lights. Long story short, what's the problem then? Everytime I start the car I get the warning message "directional light not found" at the FIS -maxidot. After some web surfing, I saw that some cars BCM have the option to select the items/misfunctions you want to be noticed in the FIS screen (09 Central Elect Long coding byte 18 in the case of lighting errors). Sadly, in my car those options don´t show at that module. I know that I'll always have the fault code for the headlights, but at least, I would love not to be notified every time I start the car. So my question is, does somebody know where to look in order to modify the FIS monitoring warnings apart from Central Elect byte 18?? Any help will be much appreciated, happy new year to all!! 8. I never said it looked better. Actually, the rails are back on the car. I was curious to see how the car looked without them, may be searching for a lower ride effect. And as for the holes, my idea was a bit of polyurethane foam to fill up the bigger part and a thin layer of body filler (+paint) for a finer finish. p.s: I find a bit contradictory when you say “ chacun a son gout” and “different does not always look better” in the same message. Is your “better” the right better?
  9. Hi there, I just open this topic for those users who may be interested on removing the roof rails from their Octavia II combis. I just did it and wanted to show the result if anybody is interested. Here the pics and the owner’s manual instructions to do it.
  10. That’s a good amount of great info, thanks. Your assumption was right, I refered to replace only the rear Arb with a stiffer one and keeping the oem Arb at the front end. Plus I won’t be using the stiffest one, a 24mm whiteline may be good, starting with the softest adjustment (out of three). After reading your words, seems a good starting point to notice handling improvements and side effects as over steering..
  11. Thanks for your info, sounds the thing to do. Anyway, do you feel any oversteer/understeer having installed just the rear Arb? I've been told that using just front arb gets your car to understeer, wondering if it's the same with the rear one. Thanks again for the tip!
  12. Nope. They are standard Bilstein B12.
  13. Hi there, I’ve just upgraded my Vrs Octy’s suspension with a Bilstein B12 kit (+eibach -30mm). The global improvement is great but I expected the car was going to “swing” less in close turns as roundabout etc... I was wondering if replacing the front anti roll bar’s bushings with powerflex ones would feel any better, make the car turn flatter. Or, should I go straight and upgrade both bars to thicker ones (whiteline, eibach..)?? thanks so much in advance! pd: sorry for my english
  14. That car of yours is a wonderful unit indeed! The blue colour is the only thing I miss for mine.. Thanks for you back up, had some pals almost calling me crazy when I explained my conversion😉
  15. For future references and help, I'm going to update this post and write down which have been the steps I've had to follow. As said before, these are the different parts between both front end configurations: - Wings - Headlights - Headlight brackets - headlight wiring loom connectors - Front grille - Bumper - Bumper brackets - Headlight washers I got all the parts from scrapeyards and sold the replaced ones, so it wasn't much of a money waste. Luckily, the bonnet is the same in both versions. Replacing all the parts above was pretty simple, there are lots of tutorials and DIY online for each of the parts. So I won't be long with this. The real pain in the ass came when I realized that my car (Facelift version) had OEM bi-xenon headlight, meanwhile the pre-FL headlights use Xenon only for low beam. Therefore, I had to reconfigure the wiring loom and even worse, the BCM hex configuration. The wiring was just testing wich cables corresponded to each function (low beam, high beam, turning lights...) and just replace the connectors. Once I had this done, I needed professional help with the BCM configuration. Thanks to the infinite help that @langers2k gave me, we figured out that I had to modify the BCM hex value on the 14th line from "01" to "11". It sounds easy when reading it, but I sweated my life to get this job done in my city (the Official Dealer wouldn´t accept this work since it was against their security policy... blah blah). The only thing that I have still to fix is the xenon beam auto leveling. Anyway, seems that having the beam manually fixed in a safe position, I wont have problems with the Transportation security Inspection. So, I know that many of you just thought it was a silly call to downgrade the front end from the FL to the Pre-FL version. But it has a reason. I've had two previous VAG tdi engines with the injector/pump system (BKD, BRE), and both ended with fatal lubricating faults. So I was looking for a Commor Rail Tdi and the chosen one was the Octy RS. Happens that I find horrendous the facelift front end, while the pre-facelift is very good looking. Thought it was going to be easier to work out the swap (read some threads online telling so) but it ended being a bit of a nightmare. Anyway, it's all done and I'm very happy. I've done some extra mods like new 18" alloys instead the OEM 17, new Bilstein/eibach B 12 Prokit installed, pre-FL steering wheel, 2 din JVC stereo unit, shortened gear shifter and replaced the knob.. here is the result:
  16. Yep, that’s what I’ve been reading on every post. But happens that isn’t there in my car. It actually has the buzzer-shaped groove in the pillar itself, but no buzzer. Not even the drilling to screw it in. So that’s why Im so lost. The previous owner says that it sounded inthe front end of the cabin. Thanks anyway!
  17. Hello there, I write to ask for help with an issue I have with my park assist. My 2010 Octavia combi Vrs isnt beeping when Im trying to reverse park. I’ve checked the sensors and all are ok (I can hear the sound they do when engaging the reverse gear), and have also checked the software with my Vcds and everything seems ok. So, my last chance is to have a bad buzzer. The problem is that I’ve removed both B pillar trims and there’s nothing there (as it’s supposed to be). I just bought the car with this error and the previous owner said that the sound came from the front side of the interior when it was fully working. So, any ideas of alternative buzzer locations for our Octys combi mk2?? Thank you so much in advance for any help!
  18. Haha!! Cool about the ham👍 I definitely will post a scan after this new tips. The flashing thing was quite weird for me too. Let’s see how it goes!
  19. That sounds right, and best of all, hopeful! I’ll try it and let you know. Thanks for your help! Do you like spanish ham? I think I’ll need to post you some when finishing this headlight conversion😉
  20. I couldnt do a scan this time. The car is at the shop and didnt have the chance. The problem is that even with the pre-fl xenon control module installed, the car doesnt auto-level the xenon light when starting the car. Also, the lights remaing stable when car at idle, but when I hit the throttle they start to flash as crazy. Due to al this, I was told by the shop mechanics that the car BCM needs To be re-configured (Replace the hex code from the Corresponding byte in list Attached). So, does it make sense to replace “01” with “04” in the Hex column of the line 14? (Screenshot attached). I’m confused haha! Thanks again anyway mate
  21. Hi again! Finally I got to install the older range control unit. Replaced the connector keeping the right order of the cable loom. But turns out that the BCM seems not to be recognising the new control unit. So I took the car to the official Skoda dealer and they told me that they need the new lighting configuration code (xenon + H7) to be written into the BCM via (Odis-e) in order to replace the OEM code (bi-xenon). They aren't able to find out this new config code since they don't have the software and have to stick to my car VIN due to safety policy. Anyway, they offered to replace this light config code via Odis-e if I provide it to them. Any of you could throw me a hand with this? @langers2k may be? I feel I'm about to reach the end but don't want to give up so far! Thanks a lot in advance!! p.d: They gave me a screenshot of my BCM configuration:
  22. Great! It doesnt sound that bad.. I guess I’ll be able To get those 8 cables passed through the dashboard. Thanks again!!
  23. So, finally I got the basic lighting done: high beam, low beam, parking lights and turning lights. I had to buy 10 pin connectors since the FL uses 16 pin ones. Picked up the right pins and the connections were made. But! Turns out the range control unit that you mentioned has a diferent type of plug that the one in the FL version. I removed the climate controls and removed the Oem xenon control unit, but the wiring loom won’t have the same plug on the end. So I dont know yet if it’s going to work. I hope so since you adviced it @langers2k, but now Im in stuck in a point where dont know how to continue. Could I replace the plug in the loom and try the old control unit or should I replace the entire loom/harnes? Thanks in advance the help and have a great week you all!
