Hi again! I just took the car to the shop (electrical repair specialist) and hope they get at least, the headlight connections done. I was thinking about what you @langers2k said on replacing the xenon control unit. I’ve been digging the web and figured out that I need to replace the unit my car has installed (guess this one, the Afs version https://www.cars-equipment.com/en/shop/xenon-autoleveling-kits-parts-4/oem-5m0907357f-afs-lwr-controler-for/ ) with this other one https://www.ebay.es/itm/Skoda-Oktavia-Kombi-1Z-LWR-Steuergeraet-1T0-907-357-/333554014020 ( Lwr, non Afs). Does it make any sense to you? I’ve visited the oficial dealer and they wont let me know any of the part number unless I take the car there to be repaired. And guess what, they wont take my car to do that repair (as they are the common just-part-replacers kind of dealer). So, this is as far as I’ve gone. Thanks again for your help!

He just talked about new bodywork assembly, if I had known all this mess was going to show up, I might have stop tweaking. But well, the thing is almost done so I will try it till the end! Yeh pals, I know that fl xenons are awesome... but I dont like their shape at all, I cant help it! Imho, pre-fl has a sharper nose in general, facelift design looks fatter and with those headlights that remind me a granny’s glasses! Now seriously, I was looking for a Common rail Tdi after having a Golf V “Bkd” whose engine exploded after a oil pump failure 😅

Wow!! That’s a handful of info haha.. feeling a bit overwhelmed, may be I should have done a xenon-halogen conversion (kidding) I supposed that the leveling system and sensors will be a big issue. But, is there the chance to disable the system and just adjust the beam in a fixed position so I wont blind opposite cars (and by the way, pass the technical inspection)?? About the DRL, is It what you mean that I will need to disable them via VCDS? Odis-e sounds unknown to me, is that a similar software? Thanks again Langers2k, you are being so helpful!

Although, Im taking the car to a pro workshop as I need the headlight harness converted from 14pin (original facelift headlights) to 10 pin (newly installed 2006 headlights). Hi there! I’m in the middle of a front end modification of my Octavia Vrs mk2. It’s the facelifted version and I’ve modified the front end to the pre-facelift version. All seemed ok till I reached the headlight connecting and coding. Both headlights are Xenon but the car lighting configuration (coding) is made for the facelift version: led Drl, auto-switch on lights and foglight used as cornering. Reached to this point, I would love to get any help so I can disable the Drls, the auto switch-on and the cornering via VCDS. That way, I would get the corresponding headlight configuration For a pre-facelift Vrs. Thanks so much in advance for any tip!

Yep, makes sense to be just removing the harness in your case. That was funny, sorry if I Twisted your brain up. The thing is that in my case, that wasnt possible as the loom is one piece in facelifted models, from the Mirror itself to the door module. Pre-facelift models (your car) have the loom in two pieces (my old golf IV was the same), a long harness from the module to the A pilar area, and there a second connector so mirror cables are shorter and for not to disassemble the whole loom across the door. And yes, turned out that the pins are identical, but it freaked me out that one mirror had 6 cables and the other 7. My Insecure skills in electricity made the swap turn a bit fuzzy haha! p.s: my mirrors move independently, I think! Will check it anyway

Well, this made a funny turn haha! as far as the facelift connector, the part nº is 1K0972928A. What I did is soldering the cables (In your case, facelift mirror to “old” connector). The result is that now I have two mirrors (facelift) without connectors and will order a couple so I can sell them properly. Anyway, I had some gap to draw a quick diagram/pin numbering so you could use it. I hope it does make any sense to you. If it doesnt, it definitely helps removing the glass and seeing where al the cables start from inside the mirror. Good luck!

Yes, they both have the same wiring. And buying 2 new connectors is a good call, that way you’ll he able to sell the facelifted big mirrors. Anyway, you’ll also see that pre-facelift cable is way shorter, so you might add some wire as an extension (the mirrors are connected to the door control module in the center of the door panel, so you might need extra 50cm aprox to reach it) I’ll post the diagram as soon as I can, sorry! My one year old kid doesnt let me surfing on forums as long as I wanted😂

Hi Mrhappy, I just finished the installation this evening. I’m drawing the wire diagram/pin functions. But long story short, pre-facelift mirrors have 7 cables although 2 of them (grounds for heating and blinker ) go into the same pin. So actually, 6 pins are used in the connector. And in facelift mirrors, 6 cables are used (and 6 pins) but the ground is cable is divided into 2 inside the mirror housing (one end to blinker ground and the other to heating ground). Let me a couple days and I’ll draw the sketch into a clean diagram and I’ll post it here. My english might be confusing in the explanation above! p.s: glass colors are the same in my case

Hello there! after searching in the forum and other online sites, I cant find the answer to a problem I found when trying to swap wing mirrors on my Mk2 octavia. It’s a RS facelift with those huge and ugly mirrors, so bought a pair from a pre-facelift octy and found that the connectors and wiring are different. FL mirrors have 16pin conector and 6 cables, meanwhile pre-FL have 12pin and 7 cables. The color of the cableS dont match, and the new model are pluged into a control unit on the door (I suspect this is the main issue) I would be very thankful if anybody had the wiring diagram for both models or even better, if anybody has already done this swap and knows how to do it. I’ve been surfing in the forum looking for info, and although there’s a couple posts about the topic, I’d love to get some help from any of you on a pair of problems. I’ve seen that basically I need to swap headlights, wings, bumper and front grille. But my doubst start with the light set up. My Vrs has Day Running Lights, and reversing to pre facelift means losing them. Thats ok with me, but do you guys know if I have to do any modification with VCDS to disable the daylights? Besides, I’m wondering if the new headlights have the same wiring/plug as the pre-FL ones. Is it going to be a straight plug and play swap or the wiring needs a new config? thanks so much in advance for any help and sorry for my english!
