  1. Hi,

I'm selling my Geniuine VCDS Hex-V2 cable, bought from Gendan in December 2018. I'm happy to send the buyer the order confirmation / receipt from when I bought it.

I used it about half a dozen times on my VRS to add the stuff in my signature before that went last September and it's been sitting in a cupboard since, it's in as new condition.

It's the 3 VIN version, and one has been used.

    Now Sold

  2. I’ve seen all the issues with the Mk4’s so have ended up jumping ship for my next car.

I’m on my second VRs, first was a race blue TDi, that went at around 2 and a half years and was just about braking even on the PCP.

My current 68 plate Meteor Grey VRS 245 DSG ordered as soon as the WLTP stuff was sorted out is valued by WBAC at £19245 with 20k miles on. About 4.5k equity! Wow!

The current issues with the MK4 and the chip issues have had a massive effect on values 😁😁

New cars are expensive shocker? In January 2018 a 245 DSG hatch was £28640 list price. Accounting for inflation that's just over 30k. Given the excellent spec it has, it seems priced about right.

Completely agree, seems very nicely specced for the price

  4. I've just compared the price and spec of the hatch to a pricing and spec brochure dated 13th November 2018, which was the month I picked up my early MY19 245 DSG.

    OTR £28,045.00

    Extreme 19's £655.00

    Heated Front Seats £255.00

    Columbus £1,075.00

    Front Parking Sensors £400.00

    Adaptive Cruise £580.00

    Kessy £410.00

    Total £31,420.00

So in reality it's actually not a massive increase.

  5. The water behavior your seeing will be from the last product used, in this case either Megs Gold wax or Megs Quik Wax. I try to avoid any shampoos or QD's with wax in as they will make it look my wax is holding up more than it really is. I've not used Fusso but it should last around 9 months so it may be time to do a full decon and rewax.

  6. Gave my VRS a wash today...

Wheels with AutoBrite Brite wheels, wheel woolies and detail factory brushes. Tyres scrubbed with Adams Tyre and Rubber Cleaner

    Prewash with ODK Brakedown

    Foam with Adams Ultra Foam

Wash with Adams Car Shampoo and Microfibre madness mitt

    Dried using Waxaddict towel

QD wipedown with Adams Detail Spray

    Glass cleaned with Gyeon Glass

Glass sealant topped up with Bouncers Drop N Roll

My wife’s Fiat 500 got the same treatment too

The old insurance lottery. Mine went down when I changed from a 16 plate TSI to a MY19. Paying around 280 a year with one claim at 37 years old. Initial bartering opener from Direct Line was over £500 for the old VRS.

On another topic, something which is annoying me is the black plastic inserts on the outside of the front doors, always looks a bit scruffy no matter what you do with it. Next try is autoglym high gloss resin polish.

I’ll be getting PPF put on the pillars

when i’ve polished them up. I had it done on my last VRS and it

made a massive difference. Only cost me £60 too.

  8. My experience seems different to most people.

On my 2013 Insignia the DAB was useless. The sound was dead compared to FM, and often cut out, with no switching to FM.

On my my16.5 VRS (with MIB2) the DAB was excellent. Whenever the DAB signal cut it would switch to FM and back seamlessly . No discernible difference in sound quality.

On my my19 VRS (with MIB2) the DAB is still excellent, and the signal is stronger - I'm able to keep listening to local stations further away than in my old VRS

That said, once within the last few weeks there was an issue with DAB on a Sunday morning, so I switched to FM manually

Sounds similar to me, we're both DSG right?

Lots of shorter journeys round town for family stuff with mine but the odd longer journey to push MPG to high 30s low 40s (with my wife driving). Personally got 39 as my highest avg driving like an absolute granny on a longer run. Usually low 30s late 20s for me.. mid 30s is me driving normally on a longer journey. Car is showing 28 and a bit MPG longterm.

Since my car isn't a commuter its still on sub 2k miles I'm guessing I can expect these MPG figures to improve? (I personally doubt it) :)

8k per year on my lease not an issue currently, a months non UK holiday last month definitely helped or hasn't. lol

    Yup, both DSG B)

  10. According to Fuelly I've done 3488 miles at an average of 27.1 mpg.

Most of my journeys are less than 2 miles though, the best tank was 32.8 which included a trip down to High Wycombe at the end of January. That included 2 hours crawling in snow because other drivers don't know how to handle the white stuff :@

hello I am due to pick my car up in next few weeks can you do coding on my car ? I can see from the picture when you got yours was in Warrington I am local :)

Sorry for the late reply, i’ve only got a 3 VIN VCDS so can’t really do other cars. Maybe try Awesome GTI in manchester, or there is list of users in the VCDS section

That will be an interesting "discussion":

"I bought this mat from you 12 months ago - here's the receipt - and as it's worn through I'd like a free replacement".

I can't see that ending with the customer getting a replacement mat without paying for it, there is bound to be some reason excuse such as "it's a wear & tear item", or "you've been wearing builders boots" or ...

Me a cynic? No, just old so I've seen & heard most of the excuses several times over B)

To be fair to my local Vauxhall dealer I did that with a set of insignia mats and they swapped without question.

These days fitted mats tend not to have any heal reinforcement which is crazy.

As others have said, VRS mats are definately available seperately from the dealers
