  1. Hello MickA they said it was not sure that Calipers need replacing. The car is vibration while braking (even soft braking) and Skoda said it could be the caliper that is not working correctly. I bought it at Autodoc with insurance so if they do not replace it I can send it and get the money back. It is worth since they will replace the disc brakes (corrosion). The car is from 2014 and has 63400 kilometers. br toskoda
  2. Thanks ! I went to Skoda and they gave me the part number from their systems. Now i try to see which brand is good. Calipers Bosch seems good but are re manufactured, Brembo are new. I think i will go for new.
  3. Hello Everyone ! Sorry if this topic is already there but i search and nothing found. My car: SKODA Rapid Spaceback (NH1) 1.2 TSI (77 kW / 105 hk) - Gasoline - 63000 km. Model year 2015 did not pass the annual technical control and i need to change the parts on the subject. I would like to save some money and buy the parts myself in autodoc.se (i am in sweden) or a local supplier (cheaper than Skoda), and the workshop can mount everything. My problem is that Autodoc give me many options that fits my car. Example, the disc brakes have different diameters (and the all fits as per autodoc). DO you have know which one should i buy for these 3 components ?' thanks in advanced ! Toskoda
  4. Hello the purpose of this post is to help others with the same issue. Around 3 weeks ago i noticed that i had more than usual fog on the inside of the car. I though it was not so bad and i bought one of those silica bags to absorb ambient moisture. It did not help since I had always so much moisture that the window were completely wet on the inside. We live in Sweden and here it rains 8 out of 12 months.... I opened the trunk and I found the carpets completely wet. The I pull up all carpets and found a lake on the reserve wheel space. After reading the forum and around 80% of google results on this topic i decided to remove the trims on the tailgate (they were half wet - only the lower half). When removing the trims (carpets) i found that the water was leaking from a cable that was coming down from the side of the tailgate, so i hanged a bucket and left it all night (luckily it rained that night). The day after, i found that there was no water anywhere and all was being collected into the bucket. When I bought my car Skoda changed the rear windshield under warranty (defogger electric filaments stoped working) , and 4 months ago Skoda changed the valve the spray water to the windshield. With these in mind i wanted to try the water tightness of the rear windshield and drove to a workshop that is specialised in windshields. After explaining the water leakage problem the guy took a pressure air hose with a long noozle and put it right into the side of the tailgate, at the same time he sprayed some soap water all around the tailgate including the third brake light/lamp. When he pulled the trigger and pressure air started to flow it was very easy to see how the air was coming out from the third brake light. I recorded all in a video and send it to Skoda. They changed the lamp and casing for a new one. Problem solved ! no more water in the trunk. I have already prepare a smoke machine with an old solder I had (found how to make the smoke machine by googling it "smoke machine DIY"). It works fantastic but I did not need to use it. i hope this help others with the same issue.
  5. Hello @pist0nbr0ke ! I have exactly the same problem. Water in the wheel compartment, tailgate carpet wet (just 1 inch from bottom and rest is dry - you can see it droping in the pictures attached) and rubber linner full of water that when goes over the rubber falls into the boot. I had the car for 2 years (2015 model) and never ever happened before. Now all of a sudden, after 1 week of -6 Celsius temperatures, a lot of water after 2 days of rain (i have not moved the car for 48 hs. It is rain water, not wash fluid). Have you solved yours ? how ?. I would appreciate. I can attached files and pictures. I own a Skoda rapid 1,2 thanks IMG_7740.MOV
  6. Hello guys ! I was following post related to this issue, and I have a similar issue: Skoda octavia II tdi 1,9 4x4 from 2006, aprox 129.000 miles. It works fantastic, no problem. My only issue is that i have a yellow wheel lamp on the dashboard but the steering works perfect. I have to go through the car yearly control and I want to reset the lamp otherwise the control will not be approved. (The lamp normally takes 1 or 2 days to come back ON since I have the car plug to the VAG on a dealer and the lamp went off for some days). Is it possible to turn off this lamp with a vag-com i can buy from internet, just to pass the car control ? I have zero experience using this tool so is there any unexpensive easy to use vag-com that you recommend for this, for example from Aliexpress ? On my car the VAGcom diagnostic issued fail code (dtc 0053) on the steering angle sensor at Skoda oficial workshop. They quoted 1450 pounds for the full steering column (said the sensor is in-built so can not change only the sensor) and quoted 850 pounds for labour. My car cost 4000 pounds at most on the second hand market. So it is a no-go for me. However they said that there is no safety related issues, only a sensor fail (I paid 150 pound for them to check where the fail comes from so I trust they did their job). thanks a lot for your replies! 9. Hello all, i am very glad for the feedback I got from you. Thanks a lot everyone ! This forum rocks ! I went to a workshop today after reading your posts and just by looking at the car the service technician said to replace the shock absorbers on both sides. It will cost me between 240 and 290 pounds labor and spares. (spares 78 pounds each absorber, maximum) I will also ask him to check, and if necessary, replace the springs. I am sure they are also rusted. Here in sweden they put salt on the streets in winter and it is quite an ocean atmosphere cause we are very close to the water. Hopefully this will remove the noise and I have a safe car again. Cheers tosko
  10. Hello all, I am here to get some info that I know most of you are very good at this. I would like to understand and anticipate what type of problem my car has now... SInce last week I noticed a shocking noise on the back, from the drivers side. Specially when driven over small (minimal!) bumps and even slow speed. Today with good light i checked the dampers (Shock absorbers) and I noticed that back left (noise) was different from the back right (no noise). Look at the pictures and please tell me if you see a problem here: THIS ONE IS THE BACK RIGHT: THIS ONE HAS NOISE AND IS THE BACK LEFT (DRIVERS SIDE): Do you guys have any idea what the problem is and how to solve it ? thanks Tosko
  11. Damper is normal.
  12. Damper has a shocking noise See image and text
  13. Hi there ! A new member of the forum, from Sweden. I am glad this forum exists and that it is in english !! It would be almost impossible for me to memorize the different parts and components of a car....in swedish ! I am a happy owner of a Skoda Octavia 1,9 TDI 4x4 from 2005. I own it from zero. It has given me 11 years of happy rides ! Ok, see you out there in the forum. Cheers Tosko
