  1. Hello guys ! I was following post related to this issue, and I have a similar issue: Skoda octavia II tdi 1,9 4x4 from 2006, aprox 129.000 miles. It works fantastic, no problem. My only issue is that i have a yellow wheel lamp on the dashboard but the steering works perfect. I have to go through the car yearly control and I want to reset the lamp otherwise the control will not be approved. (The lamp normally takes 1 or 2 days to come back ON since I have the car plug to the VAG on a dealer and the lamp went off for some days). Is it possible to turn off this lamp with a vag-com i can buy from internet, just to pass the car control ? I have zero experience using this tool so is there any unexpensive easy to use vag-com that you recommend for this, for example from Aliexpress ? On my car the VAGcom diagnostic issued fail code (dtc 0053) on the steering angle sensor at Skoda oficial workshop. They quoted 1450 pounds for the full steering column (said the sensor is in-built so can not change only the sensor) and quoted 850 pounds for labour. My car cost 4000 pounds at most on the second hand market. So it is a no-go for me. However they said that there is no safety related issues, only a sensor fail (I paid 150 pound for them to check where the fail comes from so I trust they did their job). thanks a lot for your replies! 4. Hello all, i am very glad for the feedback I got from you. Thanks a lot everyone ! This forum rocks ! I went to a workshop today after reading your posts and just by looking at the car the service technician said to replace the shock absorbers on both sides. It will cost me between 240 and 290 pounds labor and spares. (spares 78 pounds each absorber, maximum) I will also ask him to check, and if necessary, replace the springs. I am sure they are also rusted. Here in sweden they put salt on the streets in winter and it is quite an ocean atmosphere cause we are very close to the water. Hopefully this will remove the noise and I have a safe car again. Cheers tosko
  5. Hello all, I am here to get some info that I know most of you are very good at this. I would like to understand and anticipate what type of problem my car has now... SInce last week I noticed a shocking noise on the back, from the drivers side. Specially when driven over small (minimal!) bumps and even slow speed. Today with good light i checked the dampers (Shock absorbers) and I noticed that back left (noise) was different from the back right (no noise). Look at the pictures and please tell me if you see a problem here: THIS ONE IS THE BACK RIGHT: THIS ONE HAS NOISE AND IS THE BACK LEFT (DRIVERS SIDE): Do you guys have any idea what the problem is and how to solve it ? thanks Tosko

  8. Hola Señores !

Hi there ! A new member of the forum, from Sweden. I am glad this forum exists and that it is in english !! It would be almost impossible for me to memorize the different parts and components of a car....in swedish ! I am a happy owner of a Skoda Octavia 1,9 TDI 4x4 from 2005. I own it from zero. It has given me 11 years of happy rides ! Ok, see you out there in the forum. Cheers Tosko
