Changing cars
I change my car's because I get bored usually. Average life of my car's is about 2 years. Last change was from a Superb II to my Jag XJ L. I had always wanted one and it came up at the right price (turns out it's because it's a bag of spanners!) I'm now moving into buying cheap cheap cars and turning them into projects. My current 2 cars (excluding the finance Jag) were bought for under £650 for both of them. Obviously they both have needed/need work but it's still better than monthly finance and I feel a sense of pride when I fix something myself.

I'm forever buying stuff I don't need. Not just cars!- My 2007 S-Max 2.5T
The wrap has had to take a backseat anyway because the Max has been playing up. New rear disks and pads fitted but now have a split vac pipe to fix and a recirc valve. All £ but good experience for me doing my own repairs! Also gotta fix a dent in the wing before it can be wrapped. The max is still very much my project but will have to split funds between the 2 for now. The Suzuki has a deadline due to the MOT being due in October.- Here we go again......
This one was the East Anglian motor auctions in Wymondham near Norwich. To watch you have to register unfortunately. It's a busy place though with lots of auctions! I figured for the money I'd take a punt. Will see later how that works out hahahahaha- Here we go again......
So picture the scene, its a hot day and I'm browsing the net, ebay, auto trader facebook marketplace etc when I stumble across a local car auction website that has a budget sale on a Tuesday. I register so I can watch the live auction as its online only at the moment due to covid. Stuff goes through, mondeos, clios etc. All out of my budget (I'm looking for a commuter car for work) so I being to get bored. I watch the end of a cheapish mercedes and decide I've had enough. I put my laptop to the side to grab a drink, during which time a new car has gone up for auction. I close my laptop screen and as I do so I (must have) caught the bid button in the top left corner.... An hour or so later I get an email - you are the winning bidder of lot 72... A 2006 Suzuki Swift 1.5 GLX. Paid the princely sum of £250 plus buyers fee and collecting tomorrow. It needs serious work. Has MOT until October but was attempted to be put through last week and failed on quite a bit. New front bumper needed as well as suspension arm ball joints and anti roll bar ball joints. Rear brakes and parking brake also need sorting. Big dent in the boot lid too. No wonder it only went for £250! Lesson learnt, be more careful!!!- My 2007 S-Max 2.5T
Few issues have reared their heads. Recirc valve has failed so an excuse to upgrade. Got a rattle, possibly heatshield. Need a new turbo actuator and intercooler to increase the power some more too. Also got to service it and sort out the dent in passenger wing before I wrap it!- Egr valve
All done @mac11irl- My 2007 S-Max 2.5T
So I've sold the ForFour Brabus and bought this. - 2007 Ford S-Max 2.5T Titanium - 120k - No service history - Battered and bruised - Probably needs a new engine as rattling between 2k-3.5k revs So...jobs list -Resolve engine rattle, either fix or replace engine -Fix passenger side dent -Replace springs as one snapped -Replace tyres as one is low (already replaced 2) -Replace rear brake pads as getting low Then once it's fixed. -Wrap in asbo orange with black highlights -Upgrade stereo system and fit entertainment system for rear passengers (kids!) -Replace front seats with some more supportive bucket style ones -Remap or invest in RS components to take the power up a notch from it's 217bhp. Pics to follow once it's had a bloody good clean!- *Attention* Briskoda National Meet 2020!!! *Attention*
So, trying to plan some kind of 2020 event. Open to suggestions, have created a poll. No idea is off the table. Feel free to comment below, ask questions etc. Please don't fill the thread with "as long as it isn't X date" etc posts as these will be deleted. We will never be able to accommodate everyone's preferences but we will try and schedule around any major events etc!
