  1. Has anyone got a smart heating system? We are looking for a system where we can control all the radiators individually so need smart TRVs but there is such a wide variety of systems I'm looking for advice and reviews! Thanks in advance!
  2. New MOT done. Now to get on with the project!
  3. Interesting choice. I've always liked Volvo's but found the seat in the 90 too uncomfortable and I couldn't get comfortable in it!
  4. Interesting choice. I like the look of these but I can't help but wonder what the point of vauxhall is now. At least when they were GM there wasnt a rebadged version elsewhere. Now essentially you've got the Citroen/DS edition, the Peugeot Edition, The Opel Edition and the Vauxhall edition. On top of that it can't be long before the rest of the group copy too. Shame to see all these brands essentially becoming one.
  5. Glad to hear all is well! What's the daily now?
  6. I didn't realise this. I did do a Google! Think it's a fab bit of tech.
  7. I don't think any manufacturers have it to the same level as the Nissan. They have the regenerative braking which does slow the car down but this actually stops the car completely.
  8. My mum has just taken delivery of her new motability Nissan LEAF. I was tasked with driving it back from the dealership and all I can say is wow. I've never driven an EV and really liked the pickup of the motor and instant torque. The e-pedal is a great feature and I got used to it very quickly. For those that don't know, it means you don't have to use the brake pedal and the car can be driven just with the accelerator. When you start to come off the pedal, the car begins to break and once fully off the car applies the brakes to bring the car to a total stop. Obviously in the event of an emergency stop then you use the brake pedal but in day to day use I can see this being great. It made the car so much easier to drive! Not sure why other manufacturers aren't on this already!
  9. Took it for a little spin this morning. It's like a blinking go kart! The supercharger whine is addictive! Got a few niggles I'm working through. Discovered the second O2 sensor is shorting and blowing a fuse which affects a few things. I've disconnected it for the time being and the fuse is no longer blowing! Need to sort what I want to do with the wheels too. I need a new stereo as I need Bluetooth streaming. Finally (for now) I need to sort the bodywork. The bonnet is slightly off centre so it overhangs on one side by a few MM. I also need to tidy up the headlights and the interior trim as it's a bit worn and tired..some has been wrapped badly so needs to come off or be replaced.
  10. Windscreen claims are logged by some insurers and posted to the MID. Mine was a few years back.
  11. So with the new family bus not being anywhere near as fun to drive as the old 2.5T S-Max I decided to treat myself to a new cheap project. I've got myself a 2003 MINI Cooper S! It was bought without seeing/test driving but having tracked down a previous owner I was happy enough. The car arrived on the back of a trailer, side skirts in the car with some aftermarket 15" wheels on. First job was to fit the skirts back on so ordered the clips and got them done followed by a set of genuine 16" MINI wheels to keep me going while I decide what to do with it. It has a few bits already done:- Reduced supercharger pulley K&N Typhoon induction kit Aftermarket performance exhaust (no idea which) - which needs new tail pipes or replacing! The interior has been "flocked" but looks alright. It has full leather too which is nice.
  12. Unfortunately not...its got the 2.8 made by VM in Italy.....AKA FIAT. Seems strong enough, drove it back 100 odd miles with no issues. Just seems to be cosmetic stuff. The previous owner looked after it, even had advisories done on the MOT as well as it having 4 good branded tyres on. Always a good sign when they do that. I hope!
  13. It's weird...cars of the same age, spec etc but different registrations affected the price. In the end found a good one with slightly more sensible insurance.
  14. Ummed and arrred for ages but this popped up on Monday so I took the plunge. 2006 Chrysler Grand Voyager Limited XS 2.8 Diesel. Full of toys which all mostly work! A few cosmetic issues to attend to but overall it's a good buy I think! This replaced the 2.5t S-Max I currently have.
  15. Hello everyone, I've come here as lets be honest we have the greatest members for impartial advice! I currently have a 2007 Ford S-Max 2.5t with 130k on it. Engine was rebuilt at 120k but more and more things are going wrong I feel like its time for a change. I have 2 small kids (8 months and 2) as well as my step daughter (8 going on 18!) as well as myself and my fiance. I need lots of space, probably more than the S-Max provides as we currently still have to use a double buggy (single size with 2 seats on top of each other so folds flat and normal width) so with with that and the seats of it the boot is full. If we go on holiday or away its tight with the 3 girls clothes and associated stuff on top of our stuff plus travel cot etc etc it soon starts to get cramped. I could also use a bigger load space as I use the car as a bit of a van for my new business. I'd been closely looking at the Ssangyong Rodius but I'm put off by the rear bench not splitting meaning although it has a bigger boot, for anything more I'd have to fill in the middle and remove a middle row seat to use space if I was getting us all in. My next thought was a Chrysler Grand Voyager..the stow n go seating is great and there is plenty of choice in budget. Few concerns over the auto gearbox and engine reliability but the put off is the insurance costs...they are crazy! To put in perspective I'm paying around £350 for the S-Max with an ST engine in it..the Voyager is around £650..even taking into account its a new to me car so insurance will be higher thats a crazy amount extra! The Rodius is around £500ish. So I'm stuck- are there any recommendations for cars I've missed? It doesn't need to be pretty or fast, just hugely practical!. My budget in all this is a very small 2.5k tops.
  16. The Jaguar finally left my ownership last week after sitting on the drive since March 2020. Was quite sick so went to a specialist to make it good..another £600 odd! Then got sold to WBAC for convenience. Established that it had previous damage repaired that I'd not noticed but when your looking for that kinda thing it was quite noticable. The fact Evans Halshaw sold me it with the damage too is another reason I'll never use them again!
  17. It's their own branded router, seems to just get delivered out without any configuration, literally just plug and go. Hoping it will just identify the line belongs to them and bam away we go...or the new router arrives in the morning.
  18. I currently have an ISP at home for my broadband. A while back they sent me a new router as it was believed the old one was faulty. Turned out it wasn't so it's spare. I am due to go live with the same ISP at a business premises tomorrow but my new router hasn't arrived. Can I simply plug my spare router in and it automatically connect? Or is it more complicated than just plug and play?
  19. Swifts seem like crash magnets. The one I won at auction was battered front and rear! See so many around with dents! Glad it did its job and you are ok!
  20. Thread tidied up. Keep going folks, some useful stuff!
  21. Enough. I'm actually getting tired of having to deal with the immaturity of some people on the forum. My inbox gets filled with reports. Simple answer is if you don't like the thread, don't post. Don't even open the thread. I'll have a clear up of posts. Apologies if anything gets deleted that shouldn't be. The tread is actually quite useful, there is some "hacks" on here that I didn't know about.
  22. Been a busy week. New anti roll bar fitted, new bumper is here but need another few bits to fit. Picked up some really cheap sport seats for it too!
