  1. I have a 2012 dsg and haldex Yeti with 125,000 miles up. It's recently developed a loud whining noise, apparently from the rear somewhere, but this only occurs on motorways after about 20-30 mins. If it's accelerating the noise disappears, it fluctuates on a constant throttle, and worsens with throttle off. Cat is fully serviced and recently had dsg and haldex done. I'm afraid it's possibly a diff or something to do with the haldex. Any ideas?
  2. It's fully serviced and by that I mean everything, haldex and dsg included. The noise existed before I had those done a year or so back and was still there after. Unless of course the garage didn't actually do them, but I doubt it.
  3. I've had a 2012 4x4 dsg 140bhp Yeti for the past two years, now at 75k miles of which I've done 40k miles. For pretty much all of those there has been a whining sound which appears to be coming from the rear of the vehicle. Changes of tyre brands have made no difference. The sound is particularly noticeable when I release the throttle pedal and the car loses speed from 100kph to 80kph, and is especially bad at about 90kph. If I press the throttle on and off during this as the car is decelerating the sound comes and goes. On rough surfaced roads it's not too bad, but it's really loud on newer and very smooth surfaces. I've had Skoda do a diagnostic and they couldn't find anything and the car has just passed the NCT (DOE equivalent). Has anybody else experienced this noise or have any ideas what could be causing it, bearings/diff/haldex ??
  4. Hi all, I've just gotten my '12 yeti back after having a turbo failure and replacement. 4x4, 140bhp dsg with just 53k miles up. Luckily got it replaced under warranty but wondering if there's been many turbo failures at such low mileage as it doesn't exactly engender confidence. I've also discovered the sunroof appears to be leaking but warranty doesn't cover that. Not impressed !
  5. 2012 Yeti with 44k miles on it. I live on the west coast of Ireland so it's fairly wet here but no probs or issues whatever with the sunroof and absolutely love it.
  6. Just fitted Thule Wingbars with the basic Halfords 420l box and no fitting problems. Roadtrip to Scotland should throw up any other issues.
  7. That is shocking, almost looks like it's a bog-body car.
  8. My previous cars have actually turned them off after several hours, presumably to save battery, so it was a surprise when the yeti didn't.
  9. I left the parking lights on expecting them to turn off after a while but no, completely flat battery the next morning.
  10. Sunroof is great imo, transforms the interior of the car, and leather is nice too. I wasn't sure about dsg initially but love it now.
  11. The space in the yeti is precisely why I have one. I've all the luxuries such as leather seats, sunroof etc along with 4x4 (which I'll probably need less than the volume), being able to remove the seats to turn it into a mini-van is the killer feature for me. I'd have zero interest in an suv that I couldn't do that with, I'd simply have a normal saloon/hatchback otherwise (as indeed I've come from).

  13. I've been trying to figure this out recently and reckon cruise is thirstier alright - as said above you can read the road ahead and feather the throttle etc which makes a difference.
  14. Is that a manual two-wheel drive? I've averaged 41mpg on two tanks, 40 on another and a 43.6 by never exceeding 90kph and drafting trucks.

  17. I've just gotten a '12 dsg 4x4 140bhp. First tank driving like a nanny got me 41mpg (calculated via miles travelled and litres put in, not the maxidot), that's cruising at 50-60 mph (according to gps). I seriously hope it isn't going to be as poor as this as I was hoping for 45-48 going slow. One thing I've noticed doing my 20 mile trip to work is the maxidot averages as high as 49mpg one day and as low as 41 the next for no apparent reason (same weather, same traffic, same speeds, etc).
