  1. I have just repaired the wires in my door, you will find it easier to completely remove the rubber boot. To remove the rubber from the door I found it much easier to push the rubber into the door. The boot is held in place with electrical insulation tape, and a Tyrap. To refit manoeuvre the rubber through the rectangle in the door, then just push it into place, you will need to remove the speaker to do this.
  2. Check your wiring loom, the rubber boot from the chassis to the door, I found broken wires here after stripping down the door!
  3. There is a micro switch buried inside the lock, you will need to take the lock out, I am trying to do the same thing.
  4. Check the spare wheel well it may be full of water! There are guides how to fix this, usually rubbers under rear light clusters. This post is in the wrong section you need to move it into a discussion forum
  5. I bought my superb from new it is a 61 plate and I have only had it serviced at The dealership I bought it from but they have not told me to change the belt I decided at 6 1/2 years I did not want to risk it anymore, I doubt they would want to repair my car if it had snapped.
  6. I believe the service interval is 140k or 5 years which ever comes first.
  7. Thanks for the useful info Favdavrav, I am sure i will have to change my battery at some point, the Delco Remy batteries were very good, I believe Vauxhall used them, they had a green, yellow or black condition indicator
  8. Thats progress, you can't just change a battery... You used to be able to change headlight bulbs in 2 minutes flat, now you need a box of tools and about 2 hours how long before they are coded
  9. Hey Wmc, did you get sorted, As your alternator is 15 years old I would have recommend you get it refurbed or get an exchange one, the bearings and brushes will all be tired now.
  10. I cant remember if the steering warning light came on as well, remember the magnet or ring on the wheel bearing, the ABS sensor wont work without it. I would imagine the start stop system gives the battery a hard time, cold weather will affect the battery, Other Greenline owners should be able to give you a better idea of expected battery life.
  11. Sounds like a good result for you, let us know the outcome
  12. Did you get anywhere with you problems? the ABS, ESC, tyre pressure fault could be an abs sensor, but be careful I found this code in the fault log, so bought a sensor, turned out that the magnet in the wheel bearing assembly had fallen out, so had to replace all that !
  13. Regarding code readers, I only have an old V-gate scanner that cost about £45 at the time, most people have moved to the Bluetooth unit that use you phone or laptop to display the codes etc... there is a diagnostic section that will give you some pointers.
  14. Don’t you just love that Trust building Measure! Has the dealer offered to fit a new EGR free of Charge? thanks for the link chimaera.
  15. Thanks Tim, I am only looking for a standard grille, this is the second bird strike I have suffered, I need the upper chrome and black grille and I was going to replace the badge as it is tired, but I think £130 is a bit expensive for these items. superskoda do sell the top chrome and badge for 54 euros which is £30 less than SUK.
  16. You may not have an EGR fault could be your MAF sensor or even a dirty air filter, I would hate for you to pay for an EGR and find out that wasn’t the really the fault.
  17. Any news Diamo, it is worth getting yourself something that can read engine fault codes.
  18. Plymouth Red, does the car still drive OK, do you have a code reader or do you know anyone who has?
  19. Hi Bertie, yes it was a 1.4 PD engine, unfortunately garages will happily sell you a diesel even if is not suitable for the journeys you are doing, I don’t think you should consider a diesel unless you are doing 20k a year, the new CR engines don’t like short runs, with many people suffering EGR problems, perhaps they should have been directed towards a Petrol engine. I have had injector problems with my CR engine no warning lights ( Skoda dealership failed to identify any fault.) but a Terraclean sorted it out for £110.
  20. I have had a look at the “parasititic draw” video, it is very interesting, but it does mean your fuses have to have exposed contact points. Bear in mind you will need a good meter and test probes the fluke used will set you back the best part of £200. I haven’t had to use this method before as the cars I have diagnosed have been much older, but I may use this method in the future.
  21. Sounds like you have got the car back to tip top condition, the previous owner was not so proud, I think you should keep it, I ran a tdi fabia for 130,000 miles with no issues, from new, we now have a diesel Monte Carlo bought second hand, it has a number of small niggles, coolant alarm, water in wheel well, instrument cluster not fitted correctly, missing soundproofing, dents added by my son... The egr should be fine if you take it on a decent regular run, not just popping to the shops. What happened to the injectors? Did you try a professional cleaning?
  22. Are you using VCDS to give the current reading? Unfortunately I don’t have VCDS, I have a multimeter and an electrical engineering background.
  23. Has anyone fitted the grilles from car parts link ltd the offer a complete grill with all chrome work and badge for £76
  24. I would like to have a standard look grill and chrome work.
  25. Hey padredante the part you want only cost around £140 for a genuine part, I don’t think they are difficult to change but it might require some setting which may require VCDS or similar. My son had a wastegate fault appear after he had left it for a few days ( different engine) he cleared the fault and it seems ok now. I am sure someone will have the answer
