  1. Another vote for the Koni, I only paid around £700 for a set of four plus fitting and they made a huge improvement to the handling.
  2. Common problem that, had the same on 3 out of 4 in mine so far. the door lock/switch will need to be replaced, had all of mine done under warranty and hoping the 4th one will go before September so I can get a full house before renewal time! I would advise getting it sorted before it ends up either unable to unlock or lock - I’ve had both happen to me and that’s not fun!!
  3. I had the Koni’s fitted to my 280 a year ago and have done 13k on them with no issues so far. Handling was hugely improved for my local bumpy roads and driving style as I found the standard shocks tended to allow a dangerous amount of uncontrolled bouncing that seemed to get worse and worse when pushing on to the point I felt I was going to lose it! Since fitting it’s never felt like that and I do like to use the power frequently!
  4. I’ve had my Koni’s fitted since February and done 9k miles on them, all seems good for me so far though and handles great when throwing it around (which is frequent given the fact I’ve got the 280 😃
  5. If your commute is only around 4 miles I’d say that’s probably about right. My 280 gets around 28-34 on a 28 mile work commute (mostly motorway) depending on how heavy my foot is (with a DTUK pedal box in sport plus mode but no remap) but if I do the school run (2-3 miles tops) no matter how gently it’ll be well under 20mpg every time. Down to the local towns (I live rural 10 miles from everywhere) I get between 27-30 on average round trips and seem to be averaging 27.4 mostly long term. That’s with “enjoying” the power using D, S and manual modes mixed on mostly Sainsbury’s 97 octane with occasional Tesco 99 thrown in. Last year when the financial crisis hit I drove it like a grandad for about 4K miles and got the averages up to around 32 but my god was it a boring way to drive it!
  6. I think I bought mine at the right time in lockdown, £20k for 2 years and 20k miles. Now it’s got 53k miles on it yet I think I would struggle to get one for much less than I paid and the mileages are about the same as what I’ve got now! Great car though, it’s a keeper
  7. Another vote for a pedal box to sort the bluetack like throttle response. I fitted a DTUK box and run it in sport plus mode, its so much better that when I turn it off for a garage service (don't want them launching into a ramp unexpectedly!) it becomes horrible for me to drive! Do you have the wheel paddles? I now use a combination of disabling start/stop in certain places (some junctions, roundabouts) and either go into sport or manual mode for the initial pull away - that way it does behave like a 280bhp car and moves quickly without constantly trying to get into the highest gear possible half way across a junction or roundabout....
  8. Another vote for the box over the pouches. I purchased 3 pouches for my keys when I got the car and for quite a while I carried one with my keys and just moved the key fob from the shielded pouch to unshielded when driving. Soon discovered that even in the shielded position unless I held the pouch shut around the Velcro there’s enough leakage to unlock the car and drive it to work…. got one of the boxes instead and that works properly, no chance of opening or starting it when in the box. also means my key pocket has less clutter in it, downside being if I’m out and about then technically someone could scan from me but it’s a case of how paranoid do I want to be? for my main objective of being protected at home the box is perfect.
  9. Apart from the alternator failing which led to a total breakdown on the way to the dealer (and a 2 week nightmare to get fixed with no loan car…) mine has just had the usual electrical failures like door locks and window switches which have all been covered. I’ve spent about £850 on the two years extended which has more than been saved with the alternator and a door lock this year alone. the 280’s are fantastic cars though - you wouldn’t regret getting one over a 245 front wheel drive octy for sure! (I’d never want to go back to fwd now)
  10. That’s where I got my 67 plate (2018) 280 from. Very good sales experience though can’t comment any further as they are too far away for me to have been back since! Warranty is a must though as there’s so many things that can go wrong on these and end up costing a fortune…. (I’m on my 3rd year of warranty and it’s been well used shall we say!)
  11. Nope it’s not the speed warning feature, never used it since owning, it’s never been set and the menu option has been removed from my scrolling options! the warning noise happens on my wife’s Fabia as well which only has the limiter instead of cruise. If you exceed the set limit while using it (say when going down a hill as it doesn’t brake for you like adaptive cruise does) then it starts binging at you which is very annoying. my car has the adaptive cruise and speed limiter option, adaptive cruise holds the set speed until I manually brake, slows down for traffic and allows me to exceed the limit with no audible warnings whereas when I set it to speed limiter mode via the button underneath the stalk it behaves exactly as the Fabia system - throttle application less than 100% does the set limit, no automatic braking for traffic, does not turn off with braking and audible warning if the limit is exceeded by much more than about 1mph. Full throttle allows the limit to be overridden but is accompanied by the audible chimes until it is disabled or I slow down. the limiter is pretty much pointless really and a frustrating feature on a car that has the radar sensor for emergency braking and hence should be capable of having cruise control.
  12. Just to update I tried this recently and can confirm full throttle triggers kickdown and all hell braking loose with the annoying noises to say you’re exceeding the set limit! 😆
  13. That’s curious what you say about it not letting you exceed the limit. I’ll have to try this sometime in mine but I know my wife’s fabia mk3 (which only has the limiter option) does let you exceed it if you go full throttle?
  14. Well I guess we all drive differently and there are other factors (like I live in a rural area etc) to consider but suffice to say this 280 is the fastest, heaviest car I’ve ever had and those mileages are the best I’ve ever had in nearly 30 years of driving so I’m happy! Just wish the tyres weren’t over £200 a corner now…. 🥲
  15. I’m on my second set of ps4 and so far I’ve been really impressed with them. Got 15k out of the fronts and 23k out of the rears which I thought was very good considering the power and crap roads they have to put up with. I was almost tempted to try the ps5 when replacing the rears recently but ultimately opted to stick with what I know especially as there was an offer on the 4’s and not the 5’s so they would’ve cost me an extra £30 or so to try out. Guess next time might be 5’s going on the front though.
