  1. If you just want to reset faults and do some basic coding or adaptions then have a look at Carista as that’s cheap (about £20-30 for the dongle and £30 ish for a year of pro which you don’t usually need unless you have a problem). VCDS is great though if you want the proper toys (I have both now)
  2. Haven’t seen this particular issue but I did have problems with the album art when I just copied my iTunes library to the sd card and tried to use it. I ended up loading the entire sd card in mp3tag and going through all of the files correcting the art to be a maximum of 600x600 (and even then some art still had to be recreated before it would show) and updated all of the tags. all works fine now in that respect. I was surprised at just how many errors there were with tags considering I’d never noticed a problem with the iPod and am pretty fussy with making sure the tags are correct in iTunes!
  3. Yes I’d agree it’s got to be software/firmware limitations rather than the hardware cannot do it as all it needs to do is buffer the first few seconds of the next track presumably. the dealer hasn’t got any solution as yet so I’ve just taken to using the sd card for non mixed stuff and got used to plugging my iPhone in and using CarPlay with that when I want to listen to seamless mixed stuff
  4. My 2018 67 plate superb 3 (not facelift I believe) has the 5Q0 controller with the coding option enabled but did not do anything while @SashaGrace tried it with the 3Q0 controller with the same results so there must be more to it than that. I’m still inclined to believe the buttons will be the same just with a different logo on button 3 so there must be a controller difference somewhere.
  5. Spare wheel - wouldn’t ever want a car without one having suffered several punctures in inconvenient locations! (mine is a space saver of sorts as the standard wheels are 235/40/19 and apparently that size will not fit without raising the floor) Usb for mirror, no idea about but running a dash cam socket from a piggyback fuse behind the glove box and hiding the cable behind the a pillar trim is easy enough. tow bar, if you need one you need one! parcel shelf - mine is a hatch so not sure but my wife’s Fabia 3 estate has the retractable one fitted, presumed it was standard? rear camera, never had before but now I have got it I wouldn’t be without it. (As well as the front and rear sensors, had park assist on my mk2 but that was an unnecessary gimmick that was used rarely) heated windscreen, never had but would definitely if it’s not too expensive to add (this morning’s pre 6am start scraping ice is a good reason....) oh and virtual cockpit looks nice but surely you’ve selected the wrong engine? Should be the 4x4 272 petrol turbo variant....
  6. I don’t use streams, latest ones I downloaded were armin van beuren’s a state of trance 2019 and 2020 which are both pretty good. it’s getting harder to find decent mixed stuff these days since today’s generation don’t seem to be clubbers like mine were!
  7. I’ve pretty much given up on this being fixed for now. after speaking to the dealer technician about this he confirmed he’s seen the issue before and there has been no fix. claimed it was likely due to being different hardware the reason my wife’s Fabia does play Gapless vs my Columbus not. I have accepted I just need to use my phone for mix albums now so I alternate between that and use the sd card for shuffle playlists that mostly don’t have Gapless issues (such as my rock or now album playlists). when I want to listen to a bit of trance etc I just use the phone, I’ve slowly got used to the idea and have actually put the iPod in the glove box as it’s not been used for over a month now.
  8. @Colin170CR I’d say exactly the same. picked up my feb 2018 (67) 280 in September (so barely 2.5 years old) and plan on keeping it for a long time. Last car I had from 2 years old was a mk1 octy vRS and I kept that from 23k to 112k in 9.5 years (though at £10k it was half the cost of this one!). the fact there were so few available in budget when I looked and even fewer now tells me I made the right choice, I love driving it and even sitting looking at it out the window gives me a smile Great cars!
  9. Having only just got a 2018 4x4 280 and given the ridiculous plans to ban petrol and diesel being brought forward to 2030 I’m hoping to keep this one until around 2028 then hopefully get another high powered version to last me another 8-10 years while the rest of the sheep drive overpriced poxy battery powered crap (completely impractical when you live in the sticks miles from towns and have no existing infrastructure so no hope of a decent charging network being built) so my wish list would be a decent 4x4 powered high horsepower version still available right up until the ban comes in!
  10. Probably your best bet will be to use something like an audio controls LC2i (remote control is optional as well) and a harness adapter to pick off the rear (or front) speaker channels and convert them to a clean controllable line level signal. there’s various threads on here about doing this (my own included in this section)
  11. I disconnected mine when trying to install the power feed for my subwoofer as I’d read there was an access grommet behind the battery. turns out yes it’s there but nigh on impossible to get a cable through and fish it down behind the glove box (so I went through the unused clutch grommet with heat protective sleeving). after reconnecting the dash lit up like a Christmas tree with a ton of errors. I only had Carista at the time (now have full VCDS) and it took several attempts to clear some of the faults as they would reappear straight away. the front assist being unavailable was the scariest but thankfully it all sorted itself out after turning the steering full lock side to side and a short drive. still gave me serious worry for a while so I won’t be doing this again unless I have to....
  12. I’d be surprised if it’s actually the buttons as that would require additional wiring in the loom (3 wires for the normal 3 positions plus an additional one for the massage option when it will only ever use set, 1, 2 & either 3 OR massage. Seems a bit of a reach but who knows? the best chance of getting this working would be a scan of the module and coding/adaptions from a factory fitted superb 3 but it appears to be a rare option so far.
  13. £500 to reload your original map??? That should be the least he could offer, this guy needs naming and shaming so nobody else ever has to go through this! He should be accepting liability for blowing the turbo after such a short amount of running time and offering to at least contribute towards the repair costs and whatever else is needed to see you as a satisfied customer. What if it had blown up while on his dyno or straight after on the way home? Would you still be accepting his word as “the turbo is weak so tough luck”???! (And pay me more to revert back to the map you already owned....)
  14. If your local “specialist” has any integrity he would’ve firstly done a full health check on the car before mapping it and should be willing to warranty his work beyond 200-300 miles that it’s not gonna blow the engine up! there are so many people on here and other forums that have remapped these engines to stage 1 and beyond yet yours is the first one I’ve heard of that’s blown the turbo afterwards. I’d be looking at getting money back or the turbo rebuilt at his expense - how did you pay for it, credit card?
  15. Tried it but button 3 just moves the seat to its memory position as before. don’t know if you need to do some sort of reset to activate it or if it’s just not going to work.
  16. I’ll try and have a go at coding it today then and report back as my controller is a slightly different version to yours
  17. Yeah keep the heavily upgraded octy for now until you can get a superb 4x4 280 or 272 you know you want one!
  18. Judging how easily I destroyed a 64gb micro sd when taking the back cover off my daughters Amazon fire tablet a while back without removing it I’d be surprised if one was capable of doing any damage down there. More likely to just get munched up and forgotten about.....
  19. I know this wasn’t aimed at me but I’d just like to say the 280 is an awesome car and a brilliant sleeper even in standard form. I’ve lost count of the number of times I’ve had someone pull out to overtake me on the motorway at the end of a 50 zone and I’ve just booted it once the national limit signs are past and left them for dust! Scarily quick acceleration and I recently discovered putting it in manual 3rd gear just before the end is even more instant and brutal. sport mode seems to drop down to 2nd then hit the redline and bog down for a split second while drive only goes to 3rd but still has a minor delay due to the kickdown but if it’s already in 3rd it just takes off like a scolded cat
  20. Can’t help you there but I feel your pain - I managed to get the usb connector from my VCDS lead wedged in between the drivers seat guide rail and the door trim the first time I used it and removed the plug from the diagnostic port and it took me ages to get the damn thing out! Good luck removing your sd card, I reckon you’d be easier to cut the losses and buy another unless it has irreplaceable data on it?
  21. How does this work then if it was a factory fitted option? I have the drivers memory seat with the three buttons so I’m happy to try coding it in with VCDS if that’s all it is? my controller part number is 5Q0 959 760 C if that’s any good?
  22. I run my individual mode acc setting in sport and the only thing I’ve noticed over the standard drive mode is the way it accelerates when changing speed (say coming out of a 50 zone to 70). in eco it very slowly accelerates, drive is slightly better and sport is somewhere in between drive mode and full on giving it a boot full of the throttle. braking seems to be the same in either mode and is generally quite late and hard at speed depending on the distance setting which I usually run between minimum on a dry road to plus 2 or 3 when the conditions are not ideal.
  23. Don’t buy one on eBay unless you are certain it is a genuine one as more than likely it’ll be a clone and you get no support on the forum! gendan U.K. sell the official VCDS leads starting at £225 delivered (I recently got one there) or you could look at something like Carista Bluetooth dongle which is around £30 and works via a phone app. if you get one of the latter you get a months free “pro” (£35 a year ish) and if you send them a diagnostic dump they will give you a months beta access which currently has the hill hold functionality (I also have this and used it to enable on my wife’s 2016 Fabia 1.2). It does depend on having the correct version of abs module I believe (I found this on my last superb mk2 when I discovered I could enable the same feature on that which then led to doing the Fabia as well)
  24. My wife’s car is a 2016 Fabia 1.2 estate with just rear sensors and it displays a graphic of the back of the car with 4 (I believe) sensors which have bars like Wi-Fi that light up as you get closer to objects along with an audible tone that pulses quicker until it goes continuous as the closest distance.
  25. That must be a very heavy right foot and a big grin I seem to regularly get 22-23 mpg out of mine when I decide to just enjoy the power and let it rev!
