Octavia Mk4 door mirror glass and covering removal?
Has anyone here had the need to and success at removing the door mirror glass and housing on a Mk4 Octavia? I have a creaky door mirror on passenger side (UK so left side), the same noise as the guy in the video below. The video below is from a Mk3.5 Octavia so just wondering if the process is the same or not?

Constant Software Update Notification
I still have this issue, I've reset the infotainment several times by holding the power button for 20-30 sec and I've also done a factory reset and it's still stuck at the installing stage for 2-3 weeks after getting daily notifications. Will try another factory reset tomorrow and take it from there if they've now tweaked the software package and I need to force my car to re-download it.

MK3 vs MK4 spare wheel well shape/size?
Are you getting a 74 plate? They are coming out of the factory defective with starting issues so be aware of that. It's also affecting Superbs and Kodiacs as well. It was a lovely car but let me down twice but after 3 months got all my money back. Hoping that pre-facelifted 24 plates aren't affected so got a 9 month old/4000 mile car today, so far so good.... MK3 vs MK4 spare wheel well shape/size?
I kept my 16" spare from my previous car and that just about fits and is just ever so outside the 3% rule so a 17 probably would fit but not tried it. Anyway rejected my 74 plate due to a known software bug that prevented it starting and just picked up a used 24 plate today that pre-facelift. Not put the spare in it yet.

MySkoda App can't add new car
You might want to start a separate thread on that as it's not directly related. But for anyone finding the original post I should update the thread that I finally solved my issue by deleting the affected account, creating a new one with my work email address. Registering the car with the new account and closing the old account. Then changing the work email address in the new account for my own. So it was an account issue all along, I think I created the account years ago so for some reason it wasn't the same as a new account. Should have tried this much earlier, but there you go.

1.5 TSI E-tec (MHEV) 12V battery issues
I don't have a dashcam or anything else plugged in. Mine has been sitting for 48 hours now and the battery is going down 0.4V+ per day. I need to go out in it in about an hour so fingers crossed it will start with just about 12V in the battery. Do you have a multimeter by any chance? If so could you measure the voltage in the 12V battery after it's been sitting a few hours please? My local dealer can't fit me in until 18 November so if it doesn't start I'll be on the phone to the supplying dealer tomorrow to do something better!

Thanks but none of these address my question and two are related to the IV which I don't have hence my post.

1.5 TSI E-tec (MHEV) 12V battery issues
Anyone else here with a 1.5 TSI MHEV/E-tec struggling with their 12V battery? I bought mine new in September (74 plate), and with only 200 miles on the clock, on Monday, it would not start 48 hours after an 80 mile round trip at the weekend (yellow battery symbol on dashboard). Skoda assist came out and tested the battery to be normal with a battery tester, but could not test the battery via a laptop/ODB as the test wouldn't run. After getting the car running for 2 hours whilst he did various tests, I risked a round trip overnight from Manchester to Oxford area and back Monday/Tuesday. ~16 hours later and my battery is measuring 12.2V with a simple voltmeter, and info I can find on the web suggests anything less than 12.6V shows the battery isn't fully charged and <12.2V would represent 50% charged. The verdict from Skoda assist was that something was keeping the car awake and it was slowly discharging overnight (body CAN sensor?). Needs to go into a dealer for further testing, earliest I can do this and get a courtesy car is 18 November. I WFH so most of my mileage is relatively local, with longer drives every other weekend or so. Currently travelling with jump leads, a battery charger and 20m extension cable in the boot!

MK3 vs MK4 spare wheel well shape/size?
Dealer did finally call and for 17" wheels Skoda no longer do a 17" spare so it would be a 18" space saver and cost almost £300 with a toolkit so I've passed. This would explain why the new toolkit is square as the space saver will be narrower so there's a larger gap to fill above it. For the MK3 the wheel was standard size so the toolkit was circular and fit in the middle.

I've decided to stick with the the 16" spare and toolkit from my MK3 for the time being as the dealer hasn't called me back to order. Another online dealer has quoted £320 for a wheel and toolkit which is a bit too expensive.

Have you logged the error with the developers?: [email protected] They are looking at my issue as we speak

MySkoda App can't add new car
When did you add your car to the app / did you have any problems?

MK3 vs MK4 spare wheel well shape/size?
So for anyone else stumbling across this thread, my 74 plate SE L came on 17 inch rims and does have space in the boot for a spare tyre which I've ordered from the dealer along with a toolkit. By default the wheel well is filled with a large round rigid foam insert, a can of foam and a compressor which I am not going to rely on!

MySkoda App can't add new car
Has anyone else acquired a new Skoda in the last few days and been able to add their car to the MySkoda App? I keep getting an operation unsuccessful error despite trying both android and iOS and uninstalling and re-installing the app. I've also tried logging in via the car but no joy so assuming an error at Skoda's end? Picked up a 74 plate Octavia Mk4 facelift 1.5 TSI e-Tec on Saturday and this is driving me mad. Both car and phone(s) have full bars mobile reception.

You are correct, fingers crossed then

MK3 vs MK4 spare wheel well shape/size?
Thanks. In the UK it's an optional extra, can of useless foam is standard and I've had my fair share of punctures over the years. Just checked, my current Mk3 car has a full size 205/55 R16 spare wheel & tyre which does fit in the wheel well so I'll keep that and see if it fits (if the dealer doesn't reply) and otherwise re-sell it on ebay. I did pay extra for it to begin with. From images on AutoTrader Mk4 SE L cars seem to come with 205/55 R17s as standard so the difference is only a few percent and enough to get me out of trouble.

MK3 vs MK4 spare wheel well shape/size?
Thanks, hopefully someone else will reply. I'm assuming that the 48V battery in the MHEV is a lot smaller than a PHEV battery but not sure where it's located.

That's what I was concerned about and the dealer is poor at responding to emails, will chase them

MK3 vs MK4 spare wheel well shape/size?
Has anybody owned both a Mk3 and Mk4 Octavia (estate if it matters) and can comment on the size and shape of the spare wheel well in the Mk4? I have a 66 plate Mk3 Octavia estate which I'm trading in for a Mk4 Octavia estate next weekend. When I ordered my current car I ordered a spare wheel and toolset and I'm wondering if I can lift this out pre-trade in and if it will fit into the Mk4 wheel well (and of course on the car!)? A quick search of the internet led me to this: https://shop.wingsskoda.co.uk/products/skoda-spare-wheel-set-octavia-iv which is a completely different shape toolset and possibly suggests that a Mk4 Octavia doesn't even have a round space for a spare wheel or space saver? Don't like the idea of just a can of foam. I'm getting a Mk4 1.5 TSI SE L e-Tec MHEV which comes on 17" rims, my current car is on 16" wheels and 205/55 R16 tyres and the steel spare wheel or tyre is possibly of a lower size as when I had a flat the full size wheel wouldn't fit in the wheel well. My wife is out in it at the moment so I need to check the spare later today.

First Edition vs SE L?
This is what the sales guy came back with but even he had to think about it. Even using the Skoda configurator it's not clear. Anyhow a 74 plate SE L has enough bells and whistles for me compared to my 66 plate SE so I've gone for a new SE L and picking it up in 10 days time. Same thought process for me pretty much

First Edition vs SE L?
I'm about to trade in my 1.4 TSI 66 plate Octavia for a low mileage ex demo 24 plate / un-reg 1.5 TSI First Edition or SEL. However, based on the Skoda website, dealer website descriptions or autotrader I cannot for the life of me work out what the differences are between these two specs. The SE L is a bit cheaper, so what will I be giving up from the first edition if I went with an SE L?
