  1. Hi All, It is sad news that I had to say goodbye to my 15 reg Roomster recently. I traded it in for another brand and even though the Roomster is only 9 years old (owned it since brand new/ pre reg) had covered 110k of London miles (not used for taxi but commuting and used it for work) the car has been a very reliable work horse until recently. 3 months ago, the throttle body failed and Skoda garage quoted £1500 for the job but as I had all your knowledge in the forum and also I have a small knowledge of the engine and I like to work on my cars sometimes so I just bought a compatible throttle body and installed it myself in under 30mins and also only cost £75, not really sure where the £1425 difference is going to for the Skoda Garage. Then recently the water pump failed again making a growling noise when accelerating ( previously the water pump was replaced at the same Skoda garage 2 years ago under 30k miles of use. Thought it was the chain rattle/ chain guides needs changing but went to a VAG specialist and they said it just the pump but this will cost £550.00. Since I bought the car for below £9k at the time (Extremely good deal) and right now its only worth around £2.5-3k, i think the time is up to part ways with my work horse. Had a lot of fond memories in that car. This was my wedding car, the car I drove my new born back home with it, went to Europe with the family in it, how I got my first 2 ever speeding tickets with it in Wales when only having owned the car for 1 month, had been my trusty steed moving house with it and a whole lot more. Dont think any other car can compete with the intelligent space it has for such a small car and how useful the car has been to me and my family. My Roomster should be auctioning off now but I hope it will live on giving memories to the next owner (hopefully good ones) and it may pop back up in this forum who knows. It is Goodbye for the Roomster forum and for Skoda, but maybe I will be back.
  2. Hi All, Have been on Briskoda for a while now with my 2015 Roomster. but just bought my wife a Fabia vRS DSG this weekend (actually her first car - lol). Added family car for taking my baby girl to nursery runs. My wife doesn't really know what the vRS is or the power of it, but it feels amazing driving the vRS (the sound and the acceleration - simply crazy) comparing to my Roomster which is my daily for work. Official Briskoda Fabia II vRS Register Date of registration: 2010 Colour: - Candy White with Black roof Options fitted: Not sure, have to find out (Just wanted to also check with fellow vRS owners, are the Eibach springs original for the vRS from factory? As this has it on all 4 corners and the car seems quite low.) Photo(Optional) As below:
  3. Hi all, just an update on my Roomster which is now 6.5 years old from new (2015 deal) and 82000miles on the clock and counting. Mostly driving in and around London's smooth glorious roads (not private hire, lol just saying) Very recently the car developed 2 worrying noises. First noise is from when starting the car to driving, whenever it gets to around 1200-2000rpm, it develops a growling noise coming from the engine. No matter what gear is on. Second noise is when driving in London's lovely and smooth cobble roads, there is a clunking noise coming from the passenger side. First noise I thought is from the clutch or flywheel (still same set from when the car was new). Second noise I thought is loose heat shield. Took it into Norton way Skoda in Wandsworth, they had the car for 3 days and found out that it was in fact a failing water pump (first noise) and a spring hitting the brake caliper (second noise). All is fixed today and the car sounds new. So quiet and pleasent to my ears finally. Would like to thank Norton Way Skoda for finding the problems in a relatively good time frame. Good manners and explanation from the staff there. I hope this helps other Roomster or Skoda owners on trouble shooting noises if you have any similar like mine. Cost was around £550 total for the job. Stay safe everyone!
  4. Hi again all. Hope all of you are keep well and safe. I recently bought a PY21W DRL + indicator LED Kit for my Roomster as I wanted to see how it looks. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07RJFGTYC/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I have no clue on which fuse to use as there are 2 fuse boxes, 1 underneath the steering wheel and 1 on the battery. The guide ask for an ACC fuse and I search Youtube on how to find ACC fuse with no key in ignition and test, but all the fuse on the battery fuse box turns the LED on when I put the cable on the top of the fuses. Has anyone installed anything similar and if so, please would you be able to guide me? I never tried connecting anything to the fuse box before and want to avoid damaging the car electronics. I have attached the fuse boxes that is in my car in this post. Thank you in advance and much appreciated.
  5. I have the RCD330 which is from VAG, I tried other third party ones and they have a problem of not turning off completely when the ignition is turned off and drains battery. The RCD330 I bought is from ebay uk (imported from China - tax was only a few pounds on top) and it has apple car play and android auto, bluetooth, sd card. pretty much the whole deal. (no CDs though) The connectors at the back is direct replacement of what you should have in your roomster.
  6. I am using H7 LEDs for the headlights from amazon with the mount fixture for the housing also bought from amazon. MTEC T10 Cree LEDs from amazon for the sidelights. I use my car as a daily and always drive at night going home and the LEDs are much brighter than the halogen (already tried nightbreaker - still not so bright), with the projector headlights cut off, it doesn't blind others. The job is around 10 mins to change all of them. Hope this helps?
  7. Direct replacement of the original head unit I had. The connectors at the back are exactly the same. I bought mine from ebay posted from china.
  8. Hi all, Haven't been here for a while, but I thought I will post about some upgrades I have done to the car and share with you all. Bought it brand new back in 2015, the last ones out of the factory and I've been using it daily for my job in London ( no, not Uber or private hire if you were wondering) Upgrades done are as below: -K&N air filter -Skoda RCD330+ headunit -MTEC LED side lights -H7 LED Headlight with adapter ring (on projectors so doesn't blind on-coming traffic) -Skoda Kentaur 17" rims Generally, most of the things I want is done, but a bit of lowering will be good. Any good options for this car's lowering kits? I don't want a harsh ride as the 17" wheels has already made a bit of difference. Hope you all enjoy this post.
  9. Thanks for getting back to me, but HID installation looks like a big job. The headlight angle switch is on 0 and seems a bit low. Also finding a friendly local garage in central London is near impossible. Might need to go to Kwik-cheat Lol
  10. One thing I forgot to ask, does anyone know how on earth do you manually adjust the headlight leveling? The turning on in car is on highest level now, but still seemed the beam is shining low ( top bit of beam is on people's bumpers) Thanks in advance.
  11. So as we all know. The roomster comes with some dim yellow factory H7 bulbs and they ain't pretty for shining the road from the projector lens. So I have tried 3 different low beam H7 bulbs that I wish to share with you all. First off, (Osram Cool Blue Intense). Much brighter and whiter then factory bulbs, range is apparently longer, road legal (quite important), passes MOT. Short life around 10months for me. Second, (MTEC Cosmo Blue). Better white effect than Osram, but on closer inspection the beam colour has some blue and brown colour, maybe due to the tint on the bulb. Brightness is dim, worst than factory. Definitely not road legal. Dont know the life of it since I only used for 2 weeks and gave up. Lastly, (PIAA Stratos Blue 6000k), first off this is off road use only. But, they are very pretty. Very white with faint tint of blue, close to xenon. Price is high. Using it for 1 week now so don't know the life, will have to wait and see. May not pass MOT? Who knows For the parking light I am using Amazon bought LED T10 COB Filament. Hope you find this post interesting and useful. For prices of the bulbs, just copy the name and Google as price seemed to change often.
  12. Thanks for letting me know, been googling alot about this. So to play it safe, I guess old ones (yellow halogen) needs to go back in. Funny enough, LED is pretty much taking over all other bulb types for efficency and we in the UK is still quite behind on this.
  13. Hi All, Been too long since I have posted here. Should do it more often since I have found so much useful post here. My roomster is now out of 3 years manufacturer's warranty and is running as it should (I GUESS). However the headlight H7 bulbs are starting to fail and I have replaced both of them with the Osram Cool Blue Intense (4200k). Road legal and makes the light a bit whiter from the projector lamp and also looks nicer. However I had a look at my front side light which are the blue bulbs w5w (originially fitted i think) and they are still very yellowish when turned on. Today I put in the Philips t10 - w5w LED (4000k) (photos attached for comparison of the older ones. They are much whiter, but doesn't look blue at all (i have chosen the warm white ones which are 4000k). I think road legal needs it to be 4200k or below? I want to see whether these led are OK to use on the road at all? They are not bright enough to blind anyone oncoming, but they are whiter than the originals. Pictures should be helpful (sorry "potato phone camera" so the pics are not very clear, but don't have the money to buy a new phone) Any advise or recommendations will be appreciated.
  14. Hey all, Thanks for your comments. Much Appreciated. Just an update since I just manage to bring my car in for the annual service and check up, now the car is finally 30k on the clock. Took the mechanic out for a test drive this morning and he confirms even he heard the weird awful noise. (thought i was going crazy) Just got a call back from the Skoda dealer and they said they took out another Roomster to test drive and has the same noise when low rev going over bumps or broken UK roads (lovely potholes that build our nation). Now have to go back to pick up the Roomster feeling defeated as i cannot think of anything else to do that can get rid of the horrible noise. :(
  15. Hi all, So its coming up to 2 years owning my 15 reg Roomster, it has already done nearly 30000miles. It recently developed a bad suspension noise. When the car is cold, going through those damn speed bumps, the front of the car clunks, sounds like metal hitting. But when it warms up, going through those bumps, the front makes a weird squeaky noise, sound like something is loose. Just took it to the dealer today, they took the wheels off and calipers, but said everything looks fine underneath, all bushes and mounts looks fine and nothing is leaking, bent or broken. I really need help if someone has had this problem before and know what I am talking about. Driving in London is full of bad roads (speed bumps and potholes) and the noise is driving me mad. Thanks in advance
