1.5 Tsi Power Cutting Out
Issue with the EVO2 engine and the manual gearbox, easy way to tell it comes without an engine cover. Introduced maybe late 2022, also reports on other VAG car forums, ie T Roc etc with same EVO2 engine in manual.

1.5 Tsi Power Cutting Out
Understood, I’ve been doing similar. Mainly popping it into neutral before the revs drop too low in a higher gear on the approach to a junction or roundabout and then select the gear I need from neutral, shouldn’t need to be driving like this though! If you find yourself on an empty piece of road, iI’d be interested to know the outcome if you slow down in higher gear and shift down to 1st or 2nd, ie if it still stalls when the revs drop as you press the clutch to shift down.

Well done if you have cracked it, I assume you have tried slowing down as if approaching a junction or roundabout in 3rd or 4th gear, dipped the clutch to change down with no engine cutting out.

1.5 Tsi Power Cutting Out
interesting! I’m assuming you have or are going to try to replicate the behaviour that would have caused the car to cut out previously, would be great if it cures it. I’ll wait for the full results of your testing before I get too excited though, fingers crossed though!

Electric Tailgate
Straight kick in under the centre of the rear bumper then step backwards away from the car. You need to step backwards otherwise it doesn’t function, presumably for safety reasons.

1.5 Tsi Power Cutting Out
Almost all of us reporting this problem seem to have a mid to late 2023 or 2024 1.5TSI manual Karoq, so this will be the evo2 engine, ie new version without the engine cover. So I think Bigjohn may be on to something linking the issue to the evo2 engine.

1.5 Tsi Power Cutting Out
yep, I think you are spot on. A bit like Ken2 I have tried to adjust my driving to move down through the gears anf keep the revs up. But slipped a couple of times today, slowing down in 4th I think at a roundabout, dipped the clutch to change to 2nd, cut out and had to pop into neutral and press button to restart. I don’t think so much it is the slowing down in a high gear that causes it to cut out, but when you dip the clutch to change gear in those circumstances. If you have a look at the rev counter when you dip the clutch it drops significantly. Ie. Slowing down in 4th, revs down below 1000RPM, dip the clutch to change into 1st or 2nd, revs drop below 800 and it cuts out. In terms of demonstrating the issue to the dealers though it is just a shame it only does this intermittently. Ie today after it cut out I tried to replicate the same manoeuvre and gearing but didn’t get the same outcome (didn’t cut out).

1.5 Tsi Power Cutting Out
I am sorry to say but unless I can replicate the issue then I think my chances of success at the dealers are very low. If I have some time on my hands I might spend some time experimenting like the person did on the TROC forum I quoted on the first page. For now I have been making a conscious effort to change my driving and keep the revs up by changing down on the approach to hazards. Interested to hear how you get on later this month, I hope I am wrong and they take it seriously. I suspect it must be a software issue, ideally you want to be able to take a member of staff from the garage out with you, and be able to replicate the issue to them. Ie, certain gear, slow down on approach to hazard and get it to cut out on demand whilst the car is slowing but still moving. If I could do that I would be booking it in like a flash!

Likewise, Jan 24 delivered new from factory

sounds like a good outcome, hopefully they gave you a good price for yours and a decent discount on the new DSG one so you are not too much out of pocket, regardless, as you say though safety comes first!

1.5 Tsi Power Cutting Out
Being in too high a gear on the approach to a hazard, be it a junction or roundabout is actually the opposite of engine braking, slowing down by using the gears would be engine braking. That said rather like Ken2 I am going to make a conscious effort to keep the revs higher and will report back in due course.

1.5 Tsi Power Cutting Out
I am fairly certain it is related to this, issue occurs for me when slowing down to a near stop from a relatively high gear, ie in 4th or 5th and slowing down for a roundabout or lights. Revs are obviously low in 4th or 5th when slowing down to 10mph, when I dip the clutch to select 1st or 2nd revs drop below 800 and engine cuts out. Annoying thing is it doesn’t happen every time and is hard to replicate.

Removable items to check
I wouldn’t worry too much about those three things myself, however, alloy wheel locking nut- make sure that is there and for peace of mind I’d check it’s the right one.

1.5 Tsi Power Cutting Out
Engine cutting out suddenly while still moving does sound like a serious safety defect by this definition. I’ll be interested to hear how you both get on with your local dealers and Skoda head office in particular.

1.5 Tsi Power Cutting Out
yep, mines still the same. Like you regret not buying the DSG. I don’t have the time or will power to get involve with the dealers or Skoda HQ to sort it, looking at other forums it is a VW wide issue with this engine and the manual gear box. I was hoping the car would be a long term keeper but now will probably just hand back at the end of the PCP contract. All this said if anyone does raise it with Skoda and makes some progress I’d be very interested to know the outcome.

When to buy a new Karoq
PCP deposit contribution offers are also on factory orders, ie they still honour it when the car comes 6 months or whatever later. Unless there is something specific about this particular offer, excluding factory offers, which I doubt.

When to buy a new Karoq
I don’t think it is likely the deposit contribution will go up from that level, movement more likely down. Also you should be able to negotiate a dealer discount which is quite seperate from the VWFS deposit contribution. No exact science but towards the the quarter or year end is usually a good time for that, with the, having sales targets to meet etc.

Breakdown cover
I didn’t get any paperwork either with my either so called them to confirm. The lady on the phone took my reg and checked, yes, 3 years cover still including europe and she confirmed they don’t issue the plastic cards anymore.

That’s a shame re the E5. Report back please if you do give it a go.

1.5 Tsi Power Cutting Out
I assume you must have a manual 1.5TSI like the rest of us? Keep us updated with how you get on please, I have had mine exactly a month from new as well now with exactly the same issue….

1.5 Tsi Power Cutting Out
Exactly my thoughts re taking it in to a Skoda dealer. Re fuel when I first read the thread I got the impression a few people had solved their problem by changing fuel, but I reread and it is one person banging on about fuel repeating his comments. The person with the really long post about the impact of engine revs was quite interesting, very thorough monitoring his revs with a dashcam to replicate the issue, like a scientific experiment! I might try his recommendations, he seemed to make some sense.

1.5 Tsi Power Cutting Out
I have had it turning at a junction and going slow over speed humps primarily. This is an interesting read, same engine and same issue. https://www.trocforums.co.uk/threads/engine-cuts-out-when-driving….3254/page-3?nested_view=1&sortby=oldest

1.5 Tsi Power Cutting Out
I have had mine a month now from new (1.5TSI manual) and noticed something similiar maybe 2 or 3 times, just cut out at fairly low speed. Press the accelerator and nothing happens, have to restart by pressing the ignition button. Like you I have not been able to replicate the issue, seems to only happen at low speeds though, 10mph ish. Given the ignition doesn’t start when I press the accelerator I am not sure it is linked to the stop/start function.

Karoq Tyre Sizes
Sorry, please can you point me in the direction of the current Michelin cash back offer please? I have had a search of their website and couldn’t see cash offer on tyres at present, thanks.
