Thanks for all the advice Think it’s really helped me make my mind up, something about the MK1 I like, I think a bigger and more luxurious car might take some of what I like away. The earlier mk2 vrs seems to fade into a lot of other traffic, especially silver, but mk1 does stand out a little more. Dare I even say I prefer it to my very rare 2000 civic type R X that I put a 1.8 into.

That’s my fear! My mk1 is a super car, 16 years old, 193k miles and nothing wrong with it, walked through its last NCT (mot) with 0 problems. And like you said I’d probably need buy a car and put almost €1000 into it straight away for piece of mind ☺️

Have a mk1 vrs, looking at maybe getting a mk11 2.0 Petrol, looking at a 2006. Would this have the TSFI engine? Read the thread on the TSI failures above and should I be scared off? Also a list of 5 buyers questions to ask seller for anything model specific I should look for? thanks.

Anyone use one and have any horror stories with fitting? https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B00TPZWCJI/ref=mp_s_a_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1514359470&sr=8-2&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=auq+exhaust&dpPl=1&dpID=519FI7CZXJL&ref=plSrch

2002 vrs with 190k+ miles on it. Never missed a beat as long as I have it, sailed through the nct (mot) last week. Decided to get a little more power out of it. Brought it to Joe Power here in Ireland who is an absolute gentleman I should add. Pipercross replacement filter Forge recirculating dv Slightly larger SMIC with a vented wing thingy lol so a standard car really is what I told Joe. Result from today is fuel pump let me down joe left it at about 200bhp with 40 more ft/lbs but said there’s plenty more there!!! Just ordered a Sytec pump and once fitted Joe made me a fantastic offer to tweak it fully afterwards so I’ll be back to him after Christmas.

That's what i was hoping for Thanks.

Suppose it's too late for the question but i took a punt on one of these - http://www.direnza.co.uk/volkswagen-golf-bora-mk4-1-8-1-9-tdi-aluminium-alloy-side-mount-intercooler.html Got it new on ebay for €90 delivered (£70), obviously someone didn't want it. I don't want the cost and fitting hassles of a FMIC and not paying for a forge one cos when i do get a remap i'm only after about 200bhp and more driveability really. So did i waste my money? Really mixed reports on them, obviously a big FMIC is the way to go but not for me, i still need to do 600 miles per week and not after more lag or big power. I'll fit it myself so no cost there and same pipes can be used so was it worth the €90 or should i just stay with standard? Would i be right in googling that the standard core is 64mm? Saw somewhere else 80mm ish mentioned? Thanks

Run the wires and join them to the back of the radio, Earth, live on ignition and constant 12v there. Radio fuse should be plenty still I'd say. Can put an inline fuse to the cam as well

Google tells me the nearest Revo dealer is way too far away in Ireland :(

What did you do to your Skoda today pt2

After 14 years the wheels had lost most of their but covers but thanks to a whopping spend of €1.50 delivered I picked up a set of 20 off eBay -
They're everywhere lately alright, I see at least 2/3 every week. Just haven't managed to find a driver of one with a heavy right foot

I changed mine, panel was hard to get off and lined up properly again, but satisfaction in using the mother in laws vacuum to clean out 14 years of leaves and dirt under both sides made it all worthwhile lol

Thanks folks I'm always weary that the newer vrs's all have more power than i do and Ireland is now full of them so need a bit more than i have lol

A sheet of gasket paper from motor factors, I paid €2 for one a few weeks ago. Use a ball hammer to "cut" the shape out, videos all over YouTube

Basically I'm looking at a remap, will only have a pipercross replacement filter and an "eBay special" side mount, don't want the mounting hassle or expense of pipe work for a fmic. I Don't drive too hard anymore as I'm old now so with a remap I'd be looking at a safe 200bhp? Seen people advertise 212bhp from standard engine with just a remap, just seems a bit high on all standard.
