  1. Well, it should, but it doesn't. That's exactly the problem.
  2. When it is supposedly locked, you can spin it freely in the closing direction. When you try to spin it in the direction to open it, it will still offer some resistance, you know that tac-tac-tac-tac sound, but will keep spinning and eventually open.
  3. The lock on my fuel tank cap stopped working, you can just unscrew it by hand when it's in the lock position. I don't know what could be wrong, or if this can the cap be fixed/replaced without changing the key.
  4. The battery was just about to hit its fifth birthday, so on that side, I wasn't surprised. I was just surprised how suddenly it went from operational to dead, car batteries were previously dying on me much more gradually. That got me thinking what was different this time. And since I doubt I'll go back to my regular driving schedule before summer, I need to see how to best take care of the new battery.
  5. I've been scarcely driving my Citigo, so my battery had started having difficulties starting the engine since November. Then in February after a spell of cold weather and about two weeks of non-moving, I turn the ignition key and nothing happens. It didn't even try to spin it up, I was sure it was something more serious, but when help on the road mechanic hooked on the battery boost, it started like nothing happened. So I took the car to the local garage asking for battery replacement, but the repairman said let's try to charge the old one first. After that I was determined to take a car for the spin every week, to avoid the same thing happening. First week car starts, second week car starts, third week - stone cold dead. I had the battery replaced. Now, I had my share of car battery problems through the years, I still vividly remember push-starting my father's Yugo, but this is the first time I've seen battery go from serviceable to dead in a week without an external cause, so I'm curious about some things. Does Citigo have some sort of battery reading that would tell it not to try to start if battery is bellow certain threshold? Has anyone encountered some bad circuitry that would drain the battery on Citigo? I've had on my Hyundai Getz a faulty open 5th door indicator that would slurp up my battery in a matter of days, made my life miserable for months until the cause was discovered. Finally, what is your preferred method of battery conservation during these days of lockout? Do you take it for a spin, how often, how long? Or do you prefer to run it in place?
  6. Nope, never found the cause. Just stopped on its own.
  7. Just had the fourth year service on the car and I was again following my old mantra "replace everything". The mechanic was like "Brake pads are good for another 3000 km" and I was "Replace!". Windshield wipers are starting to leave lines, replace! Skoda says spark plugs should be replaced every 60k km or 4 years, replace! Etc. And I'm starting to think that perhaps I'm acting a bit wasteful, it sounded like the mechanic was actually trying to save me a few bucks and I didn't care. My Citigo only has about 33k km on the meter, if spark plugs are good for 60k, perhaps I should have left them for another year? I'm curious what are your thoughts on this?
  8. During regular service it was discovered on my Citigo that the same thing has started. They replaced the whole heat shield under warranty, but it is a bit worrying that it happened after only three years of ownership. I believe Skoda should have secured it a bit better.
  9. Skoda informed me about this by email last year, just before a major trip, so I was a bit worried. But it was nothing, service point simply got a new towing eye for me.
  10. No, starting the engine without the belt on does not cause beeps. Must have been some software nonsense.
  11. I always put on a seatbelt before turning the key. But I'll check this out.
  12. Took it to the service point today, there we tried different scenarios to reproduce the problem, but none of them could cause the warning beeps. In the end we gave up, I'll keep monitoring the situation.
  13. All fluid levels are fine. Don't know about windows washer, but I doubt it's very low. The issue is rarely happening, the car started just fine this morning.
  14. Quoting from Citigo user manual: The warning light  lights up when the brake fluid level is too low or there is a fault in the ABS. if the warning light flashes  and an audible signal sounds three times, stop and check the brake fluid level ⇒ . CAUTION If the warning light  comes on when driving and in addition the warning light  (cooling system fault) also comes on in display, you must then stop the car imme- diately and switch the engine off - risk of engine damage! If there is a fault in the ABS which also influences the function of the normal brake system (e.g. distribution of brake pressure), the ABS warning light  comes on together with the brake system warning light . There are three beeps, but no warning light stays on. There is no other mention of sounding off three times in the manual.
  15. So wait, there are the service indicator AND the inspection indicator?? They are separate? Because I've already opened a discussion on this when I had just one ping: https://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/450085-ping-when-starting-engine/ This time it's three beeps, but there is no INSP letters. Wrench light does not stay on. Also, keep in mind that I don't get this on every startup, only sometimes. It's definitely not a cold weather indicator, I've already seen those and the weather has been very mild here. If it's indeed a service reminder, can I reset it somehow like I did the other one? Is there any serious risk that this could be something more serious and I need to have a professional look into it?
