Intercooler Pipe Popping Off
Hi. On my mk1 Superb tdi at the bottom right of the car (facing from the front looking at the car) there is an intercooler pipe that comes from the intercooler (or near it). The intercooler pipe keeps popping off and it looks like the plastic box it connects too has a damaged part on the plastic where the pipe clicks in (pipes are new as changed recently). I dont think it is the intercooler itself but a black plastic box that the pipe clicks into. Does anyone know or have a diagram or pic of what this black plastic box is? Thanks,

White fuel smelling misty smoke from engine bay
My fear (along with a slight intermittent scraping noise when listening under the bonnet and a whoosing sound after taking foot off gas peddle is it is the turbo which is on the way out. Are there any tell tale signs of a turbo failure?

White fuel smelling misty smoke from engine bay
Hi All, Superb mk1 Awx engine with 172k on. Lately the emissions light had been on and reduced power mode I believe is being enacted. There is also a whooshing sound after accelerating, normal.turbo joist then like an anti turbo noise. Today I've looked under the bonnet and seen misty white smoke coming from either the turbo or the exhaust but it's not possible to tell where it's coming from. The misty white smoke is a strong fuelly smell (and can be smelt in the car when running). A code reader says maf sensor reading incorrect which is the cause of the emissions light. Any ideas what this white smoke may be? I've asked before re the turbo being on the way out as the whooshing sound after acceleration only started a month or so ago.is this likely or is it something else that's likely to be the cause? Any advise appreciated

Skoda Superb Mk1 vs Skoda Superb Mk2
Whilst the brakes m ay work, it sure doesnt feel like if I put my entire body weight on them it would work, the peddle is just too stiff to push down hard. This is at 30mph, let alone higher speed which I think would be a major issue as the car would not be able to be stopped easily.

Skoda Superb 2.0 TDI Pure Drive
Ok, After a bit of research on this forum it appears its either a CR140 or 170 engine. Is there any known issues with this engine? Oil pump issue on one engine I beileve I read about on this forum? Thanks Again,

Skoda Superb 2.0 TDI Pure Drive
Hi Everyone, Can someone please advise what the 2.0 TDI Pure Drive is in a Mk1 Skoda Superb? Is this the CR engine? Does anyone know what the engine code is and whether it has a DPF? I assume as its on an 08 Mk1 Superb it will have? Many Thanks again,

Skoda Superb Mk1 vs Skoda Superb Mk2
Thanks Chimaera, It wasnt the DPF I had the question on but the Tandem pump (brake vacuum and diesel pump I believe). Do the new Skodas M2 onwards and Octavias have this Tandem Pump for the brakes which is a bad design. Thanks Again,

Skoda Superb Mk1 vs Skoda Superb Mk2
Do all the Skodas use the tandem braking system. Seems to be a major design flaw as you have no brakes when it plays up. Does the mk2 superb/ocatvia have the same front suspension as the mk1 or is it a simpler set up?

Skoda Superb Mk1 vs Skoda Superb Mk2
Thanks All. If I do decide to sell would anyone on here be interested in a 172k awx? Needs new sususpension parts on front and had tandem pump issue on occasion with brakes as well as emissions light and maf issue at present.

Skoda Superb Mk1 vs Skoda Superb Mk2
Hi All, Im weighing up whether to spend the money on repairing my Skoda Superb Mk1 AWX 172k or putting the money towards a newer superb. I believe there are issues with the 2.0 Diesel in the mk2? Is this correct? What is the specific issue? Is it worth getting a diesel post euro 3 regs due to the DPF and over complexity of diesel engines post euro 3? I beileve there is also an issue with the TSi petrol engine in the mk2? What is the specific issue? Is there any other petrol engine that is recommended? Are the engines the same in the Octavia range and what (other than space) is the benefit of a mk2 superb over a similar Octavia? Many Thanks,

Advice Needed Skoda Superb Mk 1
Thanks Big John, Appreciate you taking the time to reply. I am also getting a "whooshing" sound after accelerating, is this the turbo on its way out? If I accelerate and then release the gas peddle then there is a definite whoosing noise which never used to happen and it seems to be getting louder recently after starting about a month ago. If not the turbo any idea what it could be? Thanks again,

Advice Needed Skoda Superb Mk 1
Hi All, I have a few questions I hope someone can advise on. I have a Mk1 Superb (AWX) on 172k and just had timing belt changed and full service. 1, I have an emissions light on the dash which after a scan is coming up as MAF sensor issue (before and after service) and the car is running in what seems like restricted power mode. Does the sensor need cleaning or replacing in anyones experience? Where is the sensor and is it easy to change? Are there various versions or one anyone can recommend? 2, Ive had creaking coming from the suspension on the front offside (all original suspension) and the garage advised a lot of parts need replacing: o/s/f upper rear suspension arm o/s/f track rod end o/s/f lower rear suspension arm n/s/f upper front suspension arm both n/s/f lower suspension arms Total for all this is £715 fitted and will need it to pass MOT They also said they cant guarantee that they can seperate the old parts and if they cant new hubs will be needed at £400 plus fitting per side. I love the car and want to keep it running and have seen this kit and wondered it anyone has used it and if it is able to cover the parts above but not sure on its quality: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/185005552006?fits=Car+Make%3ASkoda|Model%3ASuperb&hash=item2b1330b186:g:HU0AAOSw1PlhHcgl 3, Finally the brakes are on occasion very hard as the vacuum assist seems to fail (no obvious corrosion on the brake master cylinder) and plenum plugs removed. Will the braking continue to deteriorate over time with loss of vacuum? Is there any recommened solution to this other than a new part? Thanks,

Gearbox Oil Replacement?
As an aside, how would I know if the gearbox oil is getting low (if I had a slow leak) on it? I have seen a small leak from somewhere but it is not coolant or engine oil? Would the gear changes get noticibly notchier? Is there a way to check the level on the gearbox? Thanks Again,

Gearbox Oil Replacement?
Hi All, I have a 2005 1.9Tdi (AWX) Superb. I've noticed in the last few days that the garbox is getting harder to change gear sometimes and feels notchy where it hasnt before. IS it worth getting the oil changed in the 5 speed manual box? (Its never been done as far as I know) The car has done 165,000 miles. Also, how is the clutch etc lubricated? Is this a different source of oil from the gearbox? (Clutch and Flywheel were changed about 4 years and 50,000 miles ago) I nortced today on a steep incline that the clutch didnt seem to bite for a few seconds and there was a smell of burnt clutch material after pulling off from a stationary position. Any advise greately appreciated,
