  1. The map was from Shark, it was a claimed 300-320nm although I never had it on a rolling road. I had Nokian Line on the front which I thought were decent grip, you still had t be careful though. Im not sure any tyres would keep the front from spinning when you plant your foot
  2. Yeah both mine are/were 7sd DSG, Really happy with the fuel consumption on both. I deliberately went for the 16inch wheels for ride comfort also, may swap for bilsteins when I've got some money!
  3. Hmm, think I just need to get used to it, still pretty annoyed about the car being written off I suppose. Hope no one was injured in your incident
  4. Yeah true but the stock torque was meant to be the same. I've noticed a big difference in throttle modulation I found my MK2 to be very sensitive and responsive, I'm finding I'm having to work the throttle a lot more. I gave the dash a good wipe yesterday and it's not so bad, I still prefer the MK2 cabin and I'm definitely site at having less equipment. I am impressed by the 5 star safety rating though and the steering feels good and light.
  5. Had a mk2 FL 1.8TSI estate (stage 1) and i loved it! unfortunately someone arse-ended me at a set of lights and it was a write off... Just bought a 2015 Hatchback 1.4TSI SE as its replacement as this was within my budget. Well Ive got to say i prefer the MK2!! I honestly think the MK3 feels cheap inside, and its no where near as quick, I know my previous was mapped but its not a patch on it... Just needed to get that off my chest! Phill
  6. I use Thule 9503 (I think) which is tow bar mounted. Its the best option for safety in my opinion especially at high speeds, I personally haven't noticed any decrease in mpg (Although there is a little due to increased weight of bikes and passengers)
  7. Hello, noticed one of my bump stops has partly disintergrated. I looked for replacements on eBay and found a lot of choice! Are all bump stops pretty much the same? Are they one size fits all? Oh yeah, gonna get some MAD helper springs too if that will make a difference? Many Thanks Phill
  8. I asked for a break down of parts used and cost so I could try and tailor the quote, but they just replied with this Parts: £ 491.86 Labour: £ 599.99 ( 7.9hrs @ £75.00 ) VAT : £ 218.37 TOTAL: £1310.22 So, my next question is is anyone able to provide a list of minimum parts required so I can tailor the quote? Provided Skoda co operate with my request.
  9. Hey @Julian1001 was quoted £1310.23inc by Mitchell's Skoda!
  10. Cheers @AwaoffSkireally useful info, did the search - no relevant recalls
  11. @TheClientCheers, no record in service book, car had minimal use and was looked after by one dealer. It would be in there if it was done I think
  12. Awaoffski, not aware of anything regarding service campaign or software update, car is an 11 plate. Is this a free service, can I get it done at MOT? will they do it automatically or do I have to request it? Many thanks
  13. Hello, after doing some reading on the forum I noticed it suggested that timing chains should be changed every four years or every 140,000 miles. I contacted a few garages for quotes including Mitchell's Skoda who advised the chain is for life and doesn't need replacing, I am now very confused. Does the chain need replacing have i read wrong? The car is a MK2 Octavia 1.8TSI with the 7sd auto box. Many thanks in advance
  14. Sounds like it doesn't matter, think I will just carry on topping up with long life It will probably be a bit thirstier after its remap Thanks for your comments
  15. Hi there, My car was on a variable service schedule and I was happily topping up with VW long life. After a service at a non Skoda garage I seem to be on a fixed service schedule. Does this mean I should start topping up with the VW 502.00 stuff? Does it matter? Many thanks in advance Phill
  16. Still waiting for the remap unfortunately due to dealer not paying subscription on the hardware to install the map and apparent lack of communication from shark... I'll be waiting until Revo Technik have a sale, they limit the torque at lower revs in lower gears for the DSG7. thanks for your very informative replies
  17. Thanks @Awayoffski and @themanwithnoaim some useful info there. My mind has been put at ease, which is lucky as it's booked for a stage 1 map on Saturday! Also got a response from Shark stating that the clutch will be fine
  18. I see now that the title doesnt reflect what im getting at which is will it affect the car dramatically?
  19. Hi, thanks for your reply,I was looking at shark as there is a dealer up theroad. Website suggests the map will increase it to 330Nm The reason I ask is that ive heard that this gearbox can only take 250Nm
