  1. Help! When opening my combi tailgate the removable light don't illuminate or the driver matrix display show other than a closed fifth door. Presumably a door switch is sticking, but where is it? FWIW the removable light does charge and can be manually operated.
  2. Thanks for the reply. My concern was that the car is suffering from a failing thermocouple that will need replacing sooner or later. So the CC weirdness isn't a known 'thing'?
  3. Hello all, Alas I haven't visited the forums for a year since I was encouraged here to buy a used Mk2 Superb 170 DSG combi Elegance. 12 months on the car the now 4 years old and approaching 40k miles, and is due its first MOT and service. The experience has been mostly agreeable - the driving position & comfort has been particularly good - but I'm coming to end of the manufacturer warranty and want to make sure that anything necessary is caught, and would appreciate all comments and advice. FWIW I average 39 miles brim-to-brim in Glasgow commuting and intend to decline the offered 'fix' at the service, since I don't see any upside to getting that done. Issues have been: one instance of engine run-on after parking and key removal (solved by restarting and re-stopping the car); my somewhat kerbing the silly low profile wheels when reverse parking, and completely unrelated slow puncture in one tyre; seemingly slow wintertime clearing of the 'heated' wing mirrors (compared with previous cars); and, most importantly, the climate control system trying to cook me. Is there anyway of discovering what temperature the car thinks it is inside the cabin? Occasionally the CC wants to take off for the extremes, particularly in winter. Cheers
  4. Am I doing any harm by driving the car in the meantime, with a lower left hand than the right when holding the wheel at 9 & 3?
  5. Thanks. So there's no coupling between the steering wheel and driving wheels that can slip? I wonder how the speed-variable steering is implemented The steering wheel is about 5 degrees out.
  6. Hello fellow owners! I've collected my new 3-years old MK2 Elegance combi and find that: my brolly is missing; the MFD shows 'Check deadlock! Owner's manual!' whenever the engine is stopped (whereas the manual states that this occurs when the doors are locked); and (which I hadn't noticed before) that the steering wheel is misaligned a few degrees anti-clockwise. I can deal with the umbrella, but is the error message of concern (or merely imperfect manual translation) and can the wheel easily be straightened? Cheers
  7. Thanks for the replies. I won't mind using the handbreak if HHC can't be enabled. I was simply surprised that either the box wouldn't hold the car or else that if it didn't that HHC wasn't the Skoda-provided alternative. At least the consensus is that the gearbox is working as intended. That said, I'm grateful for any Superb advice & I'm in Glasgow for what its worth.
  8. Hello all. 'First post. I've paid a deposit on a 3 year old Mk2 DSG 170 Elegance estate to replace my venerable Audi A6 automatic; I was looking forward to the coming of the Mk3 but it simply isn't as nice & spacious as the older model. Anyway, when test driving the Superb I was surprised to roll backwards when stationary on an incline upon taking my foot off the brake pedal. An automatic wouldn't do this of course, but it this normal for the dual-clutch box? Cheers
