What to do about a brake pad wear alert?

Featured Replies

The maxidot yellow brake pad wear warning started showing after renewal of rear discs & pads, but the garage insists that only front pads can be sensed and that I should have the mapping changed to defeat warning display. Is this sensible & reasonable? The warning is intermittent, typically lasting a second or so, but often displays just as I'm pulling away for the first time.

They are about correct, except that it's only the LHF inner pad that has a sensor on it.

Thanks for the confirmation. So aging wiring may be responsible for my alerts and there's nothing reasonable to be done except to permanently defeat the symptom?

I can't see how you can get a warning for something that's not fitted!

But as you know it's wrong and goes away quickly then live with it.
