  1. Has anyone removed and replaced the turbo on a 2010 Oct VRS TDi ? My car goes into limp mode under heavy acceleration - and the fault code clears after turning the ignition on and off. Very typical of sticking turbo vanes. So far I've tried Innotec cleaner, had the actuator replaced and checked twice and have replaced the Boost Pressure Sensor. The only thing left is to remove the turbo and either replace it or get it refurbished. Has anyone here ever removed and refitted a turbo on one of these engines? If so, how difficult is it and is there anywhere online with some good info that may assist. Many thanks
  2. I've tried forte turbo cleaner and it made no difference. I've tried the Mr muscle cleaner too and that didn't work either - although I'm not certain I did it properly. Does anyone know how difficult it is to remove the turbo.....if it's doable I'll take it off and strip and clean it myself.
  3. I've owned a VRS 2.0 TDI CR for about 9 months and ever since owning it I've had issues with the turbo. Basically the car goes into limp mode under high load and from my own research on here, appears to be indicative of sticking turbo vanes. I took it to the dealers who ran a diagnostic on it and stated the vanes were indeed sticking and then made up a figure to replace the turbo. It's got to the point where I need to do something about it - so to that end, does anyone know where I can find the engine code in order to confirm the turbo I would need. I believe it's a borg Warner but would need to confirm. Secondly, can anyone recommend a reputable independent around Manchester area that would be willing to take a look at it......and lastly......and you ideas on cost for a straight awap
  4. Yeah I think I'll have a go taking it off and stripping it myself first. I've found the online workshop manual for it and it doesn't look that difficult. There''s very little info out there about VNT issues on the CR engine
  5. So far I've tried Forte Turbo cleaner and that made no difference. I tried Mr Muscle but thats not worked either. I'm now looking at having the turbo replaced. Any idea what a reasonable cost would be for this at an independent?
  6. Ive already posted about this problem - but this thread is about solving it. Purchased a 2010 Octavia CR VRS on Saturday morning, 9th July. 77K miles, one lady owner, full dealership service history and looked well looked after. On that same evening, I put it in manual and booted it up an entry slip onto motorway. As the revs maxed out, the car went into limp mode. This was cleared, but sadly returned under the same conditions. Over the course of the next few days, the problem kept reappearing, but seemed to be more and more difficult to recreate. I'd tested the actuator, and that was holding a vacuum. I popped into the dealership tonight and they ran a full diagnostic on the car for me - cant thank them enough for fitting me in on the spur of the moment. Anyway, as I expected - P0234 error code stored in ECU. This relates to an overboost condition. From my research - i'd already pretty much established this, and I believed that it was the turbo vanes sticking inside the turbo. The dealership have concluded the same thing, i.e. mechanics report states replace turbo - intermittent fault, turbo sticking internally. Now in all honesty, I cant afford to have a new turbo fitted. And so, I am going to try as many other options before I do - the turbo works very well, it just sticks, so I dont think it needs to be replaced. I am going to try FORTE Turbo cleaner first. I have read about Mr Muscle - but dont know of anyone that's managed it on the CR. If anyone has, how did you do it? Failing those two, i'll have the turbo removed and i'll send it off to be looked at. How easy/difficult is it for a mechanic to remove and refit a turbo? Anyone aware of any other techniques of unsticking the vanes?
  7. P0234 Fault Code - Boost pressure has been logged
  8. I've contacted a member on here who has agreed to read the fault codes on Wednesday night. In the mean time, my reserch has continued and ive looked into the problems with the actuator. I attached a pipe to the inlet nipple and it appears to be holding pressure, so i dont think the diapragm has gone in there. I know the turbo vanes might be problem to consider. The EGR vavle is apparently very difficult to get to - so hoping its not that. Any other common causes, such as specific sensors etc? Thanks again
  9. Picked up a 2010 VRS today. Dsg, TDI, CR. Under harsh acceleration in higher gears (4th or above) car goes into limp mode and coil light flashes. Restarting car clears the fault - but it immediately returns under the same conditions. Amy common causes? Does anyone around Manchester have the means to read the error code?
  10. I am looking to buy a Mk 2 Octavia VRS 2.0 TDi. I have seen a couple and wondered if I could ask for people's opinions on here. First one i've seen has DSG gearbox, 75K, full skoda service history, full leather interior but the outside is a bit rough in places - the odd scuff and dent here and there and all 4 wheels need refurbing. Price reflects this and so would put the difference towards getting everything put right, Is there anything that I should be wary of when looking at this age/mileage of car? What are the DPF issues? And what about the DSG at this age? When are DSG's prone to start failing? The other one ive seen is same age, higher mileage, lower spec, but is in much better condition. This one is manual. Is it worth considering the DSG on a 5/6 year old Vrs? Or should I only really consider a manual? Other thing I was thinking about is diesel v petrol? I previously owned a 2010 leon cupra that had a stage 1 apr remap - point being, I know how lively the 2.o tfsi engine is, and how thirsty it can be. My avg mileage is 10k a year - so on a car this age whoch do you guys think would work cheaper to live with Any opinions welcome P.S. - I was a previous member here in 2006 when I had a fabia vrs - infact, i arranged a group buy of AMD remap units, if anyone was here then.
