  1. Should also add no codes thrown up and not down on power.
  2. I've a 2007 octavia vrs with the pd 170 anda stage 1 remap. Tonight the car decided to make alot of Vibration that came right through the seat and noise that sounded like a blowing exhaust. I stopped turned of the car then restarted and the problem was gone. Half a hour later and 5 min from home it starts again. Left the car running on the drive to get my overalls and a head torch as it sounds like it's under the car and when I get back the noise has gone again. Any clues. I hate intermittent issues!
  3. The guy came out with a magnetic digital paint thickness checker and on the door thats going its twice what it should be. Which he did verify on the car next to mine. That voids the warranty as far as hes concerned its been repainted. Parting commet was those things don't rust haha.
  4. My local dealer is actually the one it came from and being a coastal city hopefully they see more corrosion. Will give it a bash anyway.
  5. Previous owner of mine put disgusting team dynamic black wheels on it. Watching ebay for a good set of silvers for it!
  6. Ive a 2007 Octavia estate with just under 100K miles on the clock and my driver side rear door is rusting quite badly it seems. Someone I know mentioned they thought some else had an 06 Golf with the same issue and even at 10 years old managed to get VW to warranty it. Anyone know if this is actually possible? Thinking I might phone Skoda tomorrow but wouldn't mind having my fact straight as it seems a bit to old to me.
  7. I'm in Aberdeen. Drive a bright yellow 57 plate Octavia VRS estate on lowers springs black alloys and usually a good dusting of road salt.
  8. No pedal stayed firm just lost some bite and stank when I stopped at the end. According to google the road is 8 miles but to be honest the middle bit is a straight cruise and would cool brakes off. I was driving casually quick, other people in the car etc so I wasn't pushing it. Pads seems the obvious answer so will do that but seeing as I proposed to the misses I think money is going on a ring just now haha.
  9. If memory serves that side is a Nexen of some sort. The other side Zeetex HP102. Ok in the dry but a bit rubbish in the wet. Its got a right mix of tyres on it all with lots of tread but cheap, I will replace with something else when i can. Always enjoyed the Goodyear Eagle F1's on my Megane 225. Think the dealer has replaced parts as cheap as possible. Managed to get the brakes stinking last night and fading a bit without driving all that hard. Pretty sure cheap pads are the culprit as the pedal stayed firm.
  10. Nice above! I'm often at Loch Morlich and Aviemore myself. This is mine bought just over a week ago.
  11. Sorry I was away all weekend so not managed to reply. Direct line said it was modified suspension. I await the new certificate to make sure its all above board. The car is on red springs and I'm now 100% its lowered. I have another question while I'm here though. Tonight was the first time I have driven it remotely hard. Its finally been dry on a twisty road I know well thats full of sharp corners with hard braking before them. At the end I felt like the brakes were not as good and at the T junction at the end when I stopped there was a strong smell of brakes. So my question is how good are the standard brakes supposed to be? To add some perspective my old car was a Renault Megane 225 with the standard Brembos. I drove that harder and never had any hint of fade. What I'm hoping is maybe cheap and nasty pads as the dealer changed them before I bought the car? Quite happy to spend some money on pads if the stock brakes are up to it.
  12. Cheers guys. (think I put this is wrong section.Sorry!) I have declared the wheels which they are fine with as they are 18's which as far as i can tell is what the car would have come with. Going off the tyre size on this link http://www.tyre-pressure.co.uk/skoda/octavia-ii Just phoned Direct Line. They want £8 quid if the car is lowered so thats OK. Just need to actually check it is. Hopefully manage this weekend.
  13. Hi I'm new here. Bought the car pictured last week and loving it so far. However i can't shake of the thought that its been lowered and I don't want to be screwed by my insurance. Anyone able to tell by looking at the photo? Or better yet how would you check for sure?
  14. Hi, I'm Matt and own a Mk2 Octavia VRS PD170 Estate.
