I've had four VW DSGs over the years ranging in age from 2004 to 2016 and find them to be the best auto gearboxes I've ever driven. Of course some people will have had issues or preferences that differ from mine, but that's life. **** fails from time to time . I would say you'll probably be absolutely fine. If it's not a sealed DSG (I think 2013 would be?) then make sure you get it serviced at the correct intervals.

Am I the only one who smells something really fishy about all this. It no makey sense.

Horrible customer experience from Cars-Equipment.
DaryllH replied to kjolly's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
I hope you get it sorted. I'm really sorry if this sounds harsh, but I have very little sympathy for your method of complaint. Pick up the phone and call the seller next time, doing it all by text is impersonal and can look like harrassment which I'm sure wasn't your intention.- 27 replies

Done too much, much too young?
DaryllH replied to DonDan27's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
If you lot are like me, you drive rentals like you stole them. For that reason, I wouldn't touch it with a barge pole . -
I bought contract hire gap insurance with my PCH for I think £199. That covers the rest of my lease should the car be written off in an accident. Additionally, I put £5k deposit down and pay £158 a month over 2 years for a DSG VRS with the black pack plus. I had the money, so why not make my monthly outlay less? Next time around though, I think I'll shop around more and am VERY tempted by silver1011's scout, that is a great deal...

Vrs Estate - Meteor or Quartz Grey?
DaryllH replied to Smert's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
I've got a Quartz Grey VRS, just over a month old. I thought Meteor Grey looked ugly at first, but as time has gone on - I wish I'd got it! Looks really different and cool IMO. -
I was offered a very good part-ex price for a deposit right off the bat from Simpsons Skoda. Ended up selling privately for £1k more, but that's the luck of the draw! I'm 1.5 months into my PCH and really happy with it.

Brilliant post - that is so true with me as well. Mind you, had this exact symptom with my last MK6 Golf, which I put down to my paranoia (experienced saw-toothed tyres which made me hyper sensitive to noise). Anyway, I eventually found that I had a leak in the boot seal and the spare tyre well was full of water .

How I voted is not really relevant now is it .

Looks good mate . I really have grown to like the meteor grey.. Mine is Quartz but I think the next might not be -
Sorry to read about your door. I must say I would be utterly horrified if that happened to me. The uniquely British comment annoyed me if I'm frank. Please don't put our nation down at the expense of a few ****s that couldn't care less or jealous. I lived down under for 3 years and experienced far more of it than here. There are so many variables at play like 1) the local area 2) how you act/drive 3) where you park that affect how stuff like this happens. Rule Britannia lol

Fascinating post - thank you for the updates, and I wish you all the best with your injuries. My wife's parked Golf was hit 2 weeks ago by a ****-head who immediately (through his mother as he wouldn't come out of his house to talk to me) admitted liability. The damage was nowhere near what happened to yours, but as you said, we're the ones chasing everything up (interestingly apart from Enterprise funnily enough!). The sheer level of inconvenience this kind of event causes cannot be underestimated, and is only compounded by injuries.

vRS230 to be dropped very soon..
DaryllH replied to marko's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
I was told by my dealer - and this is after the sale - that the vRS diesel is going up to 245bhp and the 230 petrol to something like 280 (Can't remember the exact figure for the petrol VRS). What I don't know is if these are new Mk3 engines or if he's talking about a possible MK4.I was too excited in picking up my new car to ask any more details lol.
