  1. @GaSelle Anything new on the list for the MY19 ?
  2. That's because in the Mk II you had a halogen bulb beside the Xenon light for the long beam. It was brighter and spread around the light because of the halogen bulb. With the bi-xenon you only have the same source for short and long beam which is well defined on the horizontal. On a bad weather, like rain, the halogen has its advantages being warmer. You may try to use the fog lights and a pair of yellow glasses.
  3. From what I've heard there will be a usual MY2019 in 2018, week 22, with minor upgrades and the FL will show in October at the Paris Auto show and in showrooms at the beginning of 2019. The FL should bring: Slightly updated design Front Led lights (with matrix ?) Active Info Display Hybrid technology (same as Passat GTE) Better integration of Infotainment 1.5TSI engine, with GPF
  4. In my country, only on the official VAG forum, there are hundreds of broken DSG7 (DQ200) cases. And these are only the known ones by the community. In reality off course there are many other cases. Those things happen under 20-60K miles too, on average. The cost after warranty for the clutches and mechatronic are way too expensive. Off course the DSG is pleasant to drive but the problems after warranty made me choose the manual GB. Good luck !
  5. I almost forgot. Are you running a DSG transmission ? On the 280PS model you might have DSG6 DQ250 or the DSQ7 DQ500, right ? On the 1.4/1.5 you'll get the DSG7 DQ200 with dry clutches . The fun is over. That DQ200 is all but problems and troubles especially if you drive in the city, bumper to bumper. Even now the 1.8TSI is mated to the same DQ200 dry clutch gearbox, limiting the engine from 320Nm down to 250Nm, that being the maximum torque supported by the GB. I hope the 2.0TSI 180PS Budack to be paired at least with DQ381 (wet clutch).
  6. I think the downgrade from 280PS to 150PS is harsh and currently you're already running the Superb 3, The facelift should bring the 2.0TSI 180PS Budack cycle (the same as on the Kodiaq). But a recent rumor didn't mention any replacement of the 1.8TSI, only the 1.4 with the 1.5. The new 2.0TSI Budack cycle is said to be fuel saving as it can be, performing very well. But the story repeats again, it is a new engine. Hard to say which you should choose. If you really want the facelift then you don't have that many choices but play your luck.
  7. Even if the 1.5TSI ACT eventually is an upgrade to the 1.4TSI ACT I wouldn't wait to buy this engine. VAG has a dark recent history. All there TSI engine were tested in real life on real buyers. The first 1.4 with 122/140/160 was trouble. The next generation was the same. The 1.2TSI was another trouble. It seems only with its final two iterations the 1.4TSI (ACT) was a hit. The new 1.0TSI seems to be a hit too. So VAG tested on us for about 6 to 8 years until they've found the right engine. Stay with the 1.4TSI ACT and let the others to test themselves the new 1.5. Anyhow on paper both engines share the same performance , so why wait ? The 1.5TSI is due to 2019 facelift. It'll show on Paris and being on sale early '19. PS. I placed an order on the 1.4 too. Still waitin'.
  8. The 2.0TDI is rated around 105 g/km of emissions with DPF. The 1.4TSI is around 120 g/km without GPF. The 1.5TSI is around 120-130 g/km without GPF. I'm not talking about 2.0 TSI 220 bhp or the new Budack cycle 2.0TSI 180bhp because these are high emission engines, around 170 g/km and greater. Imagine that those gasoline engines to reach a pick value of 100-105, like there diesel counterparts, will have GPF. Don't be surprised to see AdBlue on the 2.0 TSI 220/280bhp. The particle filter is one of the reasons that even a hight torque engine like the diesel seems to be less brutal than its previous generations. In the end I bought the 1.4 for the simplicity comparing it to 2.0TDI. If you look at the acceleration intervals these two engines are on par. The diesel has the edge when it comes to towing something or heavy luggage with 4 people. And we are talking about a gasoline of 250Nm torque and a diesel of 350Nm torque. It seems that those extra 100Nm are allmost in the DPF.
  9. Don't worry . I've just bought the 1.4 knowing that the 1.5 is coming and the FL. I'm pretty sure the 1.5 will have particle filter on the MY2019 because of the new emission (EURO 6c/6d) regulations. The 1.4 proved its reliability with the last iteration; it solved all the problems that previous generations had. The only weird thing is the ACT which turns the engine into 2 cylinder mode at low power. All of that for economy and environment. Those days I don't want to be part of the beta tester program; you know what I mean. VAG has done it a lot in the past years.
  10. @Awed The 1.4TSI is paired with the DSG7 (DQ200), which is a dry dual clutch. I know DQ200 is the worst of all DSGs that VAG produces. It brakes usually in the first 20-70k miles. It also depends on the driving style. Do you have a heavy foot ? I'm in a situation like you but I'll choose a manual transmission paired with the same engine, 1.4TSI. If you really want a DSG than switch to a diesel power unit because since this autumn those are paired with the new DSG7 (DQ381) which is a wet clutch. Reliability is questionable these days but at least the wet dual-clutches are less prone to early damage, statistically speaking. Hope it helps! Cheers!
  11. I think the 1.8 TSI engine will be dropped for the 2.0 TFSI 190hp. The latter is on the A4 now, uses the Miller cycle and it targets fuel efficiency. The 1.4 TSI will be dropped in favor of the 1.5 TSI Miller engine. The same efficiency it's targeted. Time will tell.
  12. Congrats for the car! Keep us to date with any info you have. How's the engine feel in short overtakes ?
  13. Great to hear that. I would have love it to make short overtakes on twisty roads but that's enough if it fits the bill 95%.
  14. After all these months with the car how is your experience with the 1.4 ? How does it feel on a long run ? What about the mileage ? Do you have some king of journal topic with the car ?
