I have really enjoyed my Series 3 Superb since August 2016, and thank you for all the advice and suggestions held within this wonderful portal. I have been waiting patiently for the Hybrid Superb to actually materialise, but my dealer has no sight of when they will get a demo vehicle and are limited to placing ONE order before June, so I have bitten the bullet and purchased an E Golf instead. I may be back at some point, but for now, Adios.

Loose chrome window trim (again)
Finchbee replied to Rainmaker's topic in Skoda Superb Mk III (2015 - 2023)
Well, took a few days to order in the chrome trim and rubber channel, but all fixed, free of charge. Actually really well handled by Marshall’s in Reading, great service, kept well informed and enjoyed buzzing around in the Citigo courtesy car. Happy punter.- 29 replies

Loose chrome window trim (again)
Finchbee replied to Rainmaker's topic in Skoda Superb Mk III (2015 - 2023)
Just started to suffer from this problem, obviously the hot weather isn't helping. Called up my local Skoda Service centre this morning (3rd July) and been given a slot on 20th August ! No recognition of the 64E3 recall code and was told it would be the std £128 inspection fee unless they deemed it was a warranty issue. Not the best customer experience, but we will see what transpires.- 29 replies

Another thumbs up for the Uniroyal Rainsport 3’s here. Quiet, comfortable ride and plenty of grip too.

Skoda OneApp - One app to rule them all
Finchbee replied to rumiexile's topic in Skoda Superb Mk III (2015 - 2023)
I really like the latest version of the One App. I now have four pages of self selected widgets that tell me all sorts of things. Passengers seem to enjoy the live visualisation of torque and power, and the g meter is mesmerising. yesterday I set a 8.5 sec 0-62kmh time with only a little wheel spin, which is pretty decent for a 150DSG petrol. -
Thanks, I tried a different 32gb USB stick and the terminal process seemed to have it cleaned up enough as the Maps then updated in the car. SD Card is in the bin ! I appreciate the valuable support provided by this forum’s members.
-
By any chance it is indeed 64Gb. Is that the issue.?
-
Thanks guys, tried and failed with both those methods. Beginning to suspect a flaky SD card now, will try again with alternate media.
-
Hmmm, struggling with this, also a Mac user and have cleaned the sd card of invisible files with an app. But, the Columbus can not find the update, here is the sequence I see. https://ibb.co/cvDFD6 https://ibb.co/cykZ6R https://ibb.co/f1P5D6 https://ibb.co/hFtMmR

Columbus CarPlay, iPhone 8 and IOS 11
Finchbee replied to JQLR's topic in Audio, Electronics and Security
Hi David, when you say “works perfectly” does that include the voice button on the steering wheel waking up Siri? That used to work, but has stopped since updating to ios11. -
Adaptive Lights (AFL) question?
Finchbee replied to FloatingBrick's topic in Skoda Superb Mk III (2015 - 2023)
Hi you probably want to read this thread, I had the same question I also discovered that the steering input following is dependent on the drive mode (most effective in Sport, less dramatic in Normal and fixed in Eco) -
1.4 ACT DSG Driving Mode / Fuel Efficiency
Finchbee replied to Starky's topic in Skoda Superb Mk III (2015 - 2023)
Well, well, well ! Thanks for this post. I tried it over the past couple of days and yes, in Sport mode, the car stays in a lower gear but is much more often in "2 Cylinder mode" when just cruising about at less than 50 mph. Marginally more efficient, with the benefit of a more lively pull away from rest. I'll be sticking with this in future now. Top tip ! -
If you had that list of niggles and complaints with a Jaguar, the dealer would be congratulating you on having a "good one". I was SO happy to turn my back on a 10 month old XE and pick up a Superb. Fair enough if you want to change, but avoid anything from LandRover Jaguar, their software engineers must all be nine years old i reckon!

Over sensitive ambient light sensor?
Finchbee replied to Finchbee's topic in Skoda Superb Mk III (2015 - 2023)
Thanks, that all makes sense. I have now changed to the "late" setting, which has helped a bit, still seems over sensitive to light and shade on bright days though. I'll learn to live with this. -
The Columbus display in my SE L seems to swap to night mode very readily. On a bright day, even the shade from an overhanging tree can change the map display to white on black. Anyone else notice this? Is the sensitivity adjustable? If so, how? This is my only, over pedantic, niggle with the car after 2 months of ownership. At this stage with my previous Jaguar XE, I had a two page list of faults and snags with that car.

For a great comparison, have a look here. http://lifehacker.com/turn-by-turn-navigation-showdown-google-maps-vs-waze-1761550298

Well, I am not a zealot, but. . . . . In some ways I agree that CarPlay functionality is redundant because of the excellent functionality of the Columbus system. However, if you spend a lot of time in the car and rely solely on your iPhone to go about your day, then it is incredibly intelligent. Maps automatically directs you to the next appointment in your calendar, hit Messages and it assumes you want to text your next meeting contact etc etc. I also find the natural language of Siri more useful than the car's voice recognition. I was also a Waze user but this won't ever be part of CarPlay since Google purchased Waze. Apple Maps is getting better and better though, I don't miss Waze as much as I thought I would. For Music, obviously you could just stream via Bluetooth or USB and see your phone as another audio device, but via CarPlay you are more connected to your iCloud playlists and podcasts. It isn't for everybody, but it is excellent if you really embrace it.

First question, Light Assist
Finchbee replied to Finchbee's topic in Skoda Superb Mk III (2015 - 2023)
Thanks BillyJim, most comprehensive. Cleared up my question, and you are right, I was confused between what AFS does and what Light Assist should do. I am not worried about getting what I haven't paid for, just making sure that I do have what i should have. Cheers -
First question, Light Assist
Finchbee replied to Finchbee's topic in Skoda Superb Mk III (2015 - 2023)
Ahh, I do. But I have no idea what VCDS is. I assume I should ask my dealer to sort it. Appreciate the response. -
Trust me, just traded in a 2015 Jaguar XE for my Superb and the build quality is way, way better on the Skoda. The front wings line up with the doors AND bonnet No visible unpainted spot welds The centre console actually appears to be fastened to the car Doors close with a solid 'thunk' No gap between the bottom of the doors and the sills Boot / hatch area is fully trimmed. None of this was true on the Coventry Cat.

First question, Light Assist
Finchbee replied to Finchbee's topic in Skoda Superb Mk III (2015 - 2023)
Right, thanks guys. I thought I should have the light assistance package where I could switch on the automatic high beam /dipped beam option. Appears not. -
First question, Light Assist

Had my new SEL Executive for less than a week so forgive me if this is a dumb question, but I do not seem able to activate the Light Assist function which should be included on this model. Attached is a screenshot of the settings page and there is no activate/deactivate tick box against Light Assist. I made sure I wasn't in Eco mode and checked all the other pre-requisites in the manual, but cannot get the "auto" light on. Any thoughts gratefully received.

Delivered with Continental tyres, which have served me well in the past. Running in right now so not ready to explore the sporty options, but I am sure it will be more than adequate. Weird thing about the photo is that it uploaded fine in the Superb111 picture forum, and the gallery. Just upside down here. That will be the Internet then !
